Manchester United 0:1 Atletico Madrid (Sat 30th July, 12:45 UK time)

Head to head:
23 Oct 1991 Atletico 3-0 Man Utd (European Cup Winners Cup)
06 Nov 1991 Man Utd 1-1 Atletico (European Cup Winners Cup)

Mad that we haven't faced them in over 30 years.

They dumped us out of the CL earlier this year.

I have been informed that in the first time in history that one player will play half of the game for United and the other half for Atletico. That player is....

Not sure if serious.

You conveniently wiped out your memory eh.

I dont blame you for that, my blood boils everytime these guys come to town. Its like playing against thugs. Good thing we only see them once every 30 years (hopefully!).

So whoever starts this match will be the starting 11 for next week I assume.

What is this Rayo vallocena match I see on google fixtures on the 31st?

No Ronaldo, but new signings included.

Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Bailly and Shaw also missing.

Could mean Malacia is first choice then come next week. Might just be a red herring.

Probably a fair few youth players in midfield and attack with a fairly experienced defence behind them for the Rayo Vallecano game.

Bishop

AWB
Varane
Bailly
Shaw

Savage
Iqbal
Mejbri/Galbraith

Diallo
McNeil/Mejbri
Garnacho

Something like the above if we are going with a completely different squad.

TRAVELLING SQUAD

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Tom Heaton, Matej Kovar.

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Ethan Laird, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Alex Telles.

Midfielders: Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, James Garner, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri, Donny van de Beek.

Forwards: Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho.

Wonder if that means Pellistri is ahead of our other young attackers? Last I heard he was going on loan. I'm trying to figure out if the non-starters in this squad against Atletico are ahead of or behind the starters against Rayo. If Shaw isn't injured I assume that means Malacia is 1st choice at lb. Interesting.

Shaw injured already ffs and some still question why Malacia was needed.
