Manchester United 0:1 Atletico Madrid (Sat 30th July, 12:45 UK time)

Malacia doesn’t seem to be running at the players down that left side, quite often stopping and passing back. Go for it son, fecking have it

I don't take their antics personal, but surely it's easy to see why Simeone's Atletico aren't exactly endearing for neutral fans
I think it depends on the game (and people's personal preferences of course). Some games they're so dominantly insurpassable that it's beautiful if you're into dominance/tactics rather than plenty goals. Other games, especially when Lemar and Felix get it going, there's some beautiful combinations in the offensive play that it can be beautiful to see them dominate practically tiki-taka style.

But to be honest, that's not all too consistent, many of the defensive games are more about barely hanging on and then you have to simply like to see a hard working team willing to do everything it takes. That's admirable but last season's got me pretty bored and thinking maybe Simeone's time is over. The consistent team spirit since his arrival is stunning though, so replacing him will be a big big risk at things falling apart. It's just that those glimpses of Felix-Lemar throughout the past two seasons make you long for more, while the Raul Garcia days fit the hard work style way better, so we'll see.

All in all it helps that I'm less about football these days, so if I don't like a game I can easily do something else with my time while it's on in the background or turn it off altogether.

The truth hurts fella
hey now

Popularity is overrated. :D

That's true! :D:D

Here's to a good game fellas! I hope both do well this season and give us many reasons to be proud of 'em!

Joao Felix's technique is absolutely brilliant. Magnificent player, wish he played for us.

When we've got Eriksen, Donny and Bruno on the field our defenders need to stop their hoof-ball nonsense.

Thought this was on at 3pm. How have we been tactically and in terms of playstyle?
Good first half. Fairly crisp passing and excellent pressing/urgency.

Bruno and Elanga worst performers through sloppy passes and poor positioning on Elangas behalf.

2nd half not been quite as good in the attacking sense but Eriksen has been on for 10 minutes and could’ve quite easily got 2 assists. He’s been fantastic.

The passing and movement has been encouraging despite the lack of finishing/goals.

PS Maguire has borderline been MOTM for me despite his sitter.Excellent defensively today.

Nice pass by Pellistri to release Rashford there. And then he follows it up with that weak effort.

Played really well for most parts. Nice passages of play like pre season. Malacia has looked brilliant creating some key chances. Martial looks sharp and unlucky not to score. Positive in general. But you wouldn’t think it with some of the posts here.

I expected a painful start to the season but this is definitely not looking good.

Nice feet from Rashford! With a first team player instead of Pellistri there that's a goal, but his movement was also great.

So obvious that we need competition and depth at the right wing position. One injury and we're fecked.

Do you need to make them kinds of challenges in a friendly?

Could've been serious injury to Pellestri

Feel like Pellistri should be given more minutes and a better chance at United, especially in the Europa League.
