Manchester City under Pep Guardiola | Pep on City v Liverpool ref: "He likes to be special"

Probably needs another £250m.

Pep really shat the bed tactically today. You'd think he'd have a plan B against Liverpool after losing their only league game to them.

BBC 5live - ''Fair play to Pep, he's still sticking to his principles''. With any other manager we call this a failure to effect and change the game. :wenger:

The greatest side in the history of English football do not bottle it in huge CL games.

Pep and City can do one.

At 3-0 it’s not over but, if City don’t go through, they will be classed alongside Arsenal’s “Invincibles” as a very good domestic side who couldn’t quite do it on the bigger stage.

I've heard this time and time again when he was in Bayern. "Well he had no other choice, some players were injured so the system he played didn't work". Play a goddamn different system then.
He's a great tactician, but that will remain to be his ultimate weakness.

If Guardiola aspires to win more CL's (2011 was his last one) he has to cut out these odd line-ups or at least prepare his team by using a new line-up a few times beforehand. These sudden changes rarely work out in his favor, just like during his tenure at Bayern.
An English journo was on TV the other week praising Pep and slamming Jose saying he is finished in Europe because the last time he won the trophy was in 2010.

He forgot to state that the last time Pep won it was just a year later with a certain Leo Messi. He inherited a treble winning team at Bayern and couldn’t do it and has yet to do so with a hugely expensive squad at City.

The pre match incident going to be blamed at all?

Nope and it shouldn't, we were shit tonight and that's it.

That incident should be dealt with separately. 3 games behind closed doors IMHO

Gutless seems excessive, 16 points clear in the league must count for something?!

Clown in goal also seems too far, given he's conceded fewer than any other keep in the league too!
It only tells you that the PL isn't that great and that many teams have already lost the game before playing Man City.

He's also faced about 12 shots on target over the course of the season to be fair.

Can't see Poop turning this game around, Salah will score 1 and then City need 5 to win.

The first goal was terrible keeping.

Their season is a massive success regardless. Anyone saying anything else is deluded. However, it just shows that all the talk about quadruple and treble were BS.

I can't even think of how Pep can get at Liverpool next week. Is it wise to take more risks and leave space open for Liverpool at the back? If anything they'd be more dangerous away from home.
What a cock up. Looks like we need Ronaldo to save us.

Yes.

Sitting back will not get City 3 goals next week.

Lets be honest, they need to shop for few new CBs in the summer.
Juventus conceded three yesterday. Do they also need to shop for new CBs? Real conceded 3 against Barcelona and Spurs, maybe the same then? The only team that probably has not been at the end of a hammering this year are Barcelona and Bayern which is to say where are those CBs that all these teams apparently need?

He could come out foaming at the mouth, naked and smearing his shit all over the walls in a blind rage and the media would spin it as ''passion'' and give him props.

Whooooooosh!!

Any time you win the PL it's a successful season. No doubt about that.

But for the money spent over the years they are total failures in the CL.

It's not as if they have been unlucky since they fell into all this oil money. They have been constantly outclassed.

Bayern lost 3-0 to PSG in the group stages which played a big part in getting rid of Carlo Ancelotti

Completely agree, they talk about him as if he's some sort of ***********. Early in the game they praised him for telling his team to carry on attacking, they were already 2-0 DOWN!

It was a joke.

Dude, seriousy?

Pep was awful and stubborn tonight. Literally got everything wrong and refused to budge or be even slightly creative.

Dismal.

Atmosphere at the Etihad will work in City's favor. Liverpool will be rattled. Blue seats will make big noise.
