Man Utd to redesign club crest - Rumour

The changes are so small that you will recognize the badge as you always have. It's always good to make little changes over time and the new badge looks good.

We can now ask City what the three stars on their shirts are for...

Why would people think this is for real? Oh it's on twitter that must be true then!

Because its becoming a european dick swinging competition.

We all know we've won it 3 times, but compared to other clubs its hardly anything to shout about?.

When liverpool stick 5 on their crest its going to look silly, what will we do then, put 20 stars around the club crest to show our 20 league titles?

The stars are not needed IMO.

Seems like you have a bit of complex about it, I'm proud of the three we have.

I don't like the stars. I know the European cup is a prestigious tournament but why show three stars for it and nothing for the league or FA cup wins? Incude them all (which would mean just a crest full of stars) or don't include any stars

I'd rather have two stars, each to commemorate 10 domestic titles and for it to be a 1 year thing rather than a permanent feature.

I see a few others have said the same - I think it's right that it is a policy adopted by Serie A clubs.

Strictly speaking from a graphic design poin of view, I prefer this one to the old. Although in reality, sentiments are bound to flaw the judgement. By the way, I barely looked at the stars as I don't consider them to be a formal part of the logotype. Would have prefer two stars for 20 league titles as Juventus have done.

Traditionalists will complain, but the reality is that the crest will change eventually. Sure, do you want us to go back to wearing green and yellow?
If it's true, I think it could grow on me. It's a very European look. The three stars makes City's crest look even more stupid too.

Looks like Bayern?

Not sure about the yellow going, but not too bothered other than that.

Exactly my thoughts, felt like Bayern's, although it is nothing like it other than for being round and the white letters being on a red background.

Not sure about the yellow going either, but it looks fine to me.

Looks better than the old one, to be fair.

Innit.

It's clearly a fake, which is a shame, because our current badge looks like a children's novelty sweep wrapper logo and is one of the shittest looking amongst the European elite. Even shitter when you combine it with Nike's wank cnut out and auto-stich thingy. It looks like something Chupa Chups would design for a tie in Man United goody bag treat.

People will always complain about change. Personally I think we should be calling for it, 'cos the real travesty was the change to this current badge, not a change away from it.

the devil still looks like an abstract Berni Clifton holding a trident

Small time with the stars if you ask me. You don't see Madrid having 9 stars all over the crest.

Not a fan of the stars but I like the rest of it, looks nice.

Doubt it's legit, though.

This whole stars thing is very childish. Why do people feel the need to have a zillion stars? Other teams would have more stars, so what? That's historically accurate, deal with it.

I for one don't mind the stars one bit, they are part of our heritage. Why should we hide or be embarrased by the achievements of some of our most legendary players? It's a cause for celebration, we've won it three times, we've been mighty close a few others but it didn't work out, got robbed a couple of others... That's European competitions for you.

Yes, Liverpool have five, a flukey one and four from an era of consistent domination which took place, was real, and you can only take your hat off to them for it.

There's nothing embarrassing in having more or less stars, what is embarrassing is to prefer to hide the achievements of Law, Charlton, Best, Schmeichel, Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio... than to face potential rival taunts for having less stars on a crest, particularly when that rival has never won the Premiership FFS, not once, to our thirteen.

Grow up.

Agree it looks a bit harsh picking on the one post. I picked that one as representative of a general sentiment from several posts, not just Adam's.

Like the stars element, would be a nice addition

I could do without the stars (do we really need to remind everyone we've won three European championships?) but otherwise it's actually a very nice piece of work. But it's just a completely uncorroborated internet rumor so far, right?

Real or not, I don't see the problem with the stars. If we'd have beat Barca in our two previous finals, I'm sure we would all be begging for 5 stars to be on our badge.

It's already been changed in my lifetime, not the end of the world if it happens. Looks pretty good I reckon but I'd rather we put Football Club back on it or go back to the 68 ECF crest.

I don't think it's real but it looks brilliant in my opinion.

It isn't. It was a concept posted on a facebook page.

As for the stars, apparently they're not allowed in the Premier League anyway. Aston Villa wanted a star above their crest but the Premier League forbid it so they ended up incorporating the star inside the crest as there's no rule against that.

Wonder could we put the stars on the back like the Tyrone GAA shirt have to represent their three All-Irelands

I think that looks pretty awesome, but then the new GAA shirts look class anyway.

When did all this star business begin? I remember the star appearing on England's kit some years back and had no idea why until someone told me it represented a WC win. When did clubs start doing this?
