He's better than Fellaini.. Would be a perfect signing. More potential with this guy in terms of what he's really good at. Still finding himself.
He had a terrific season at Benfica, quite superior to Defour at Porto. I think he's an extremely intelligent player, terrific positioning and defensive coverage but very good going forward as well. Scored some very good goals this season. I think his most stand out ability is ball retention, he's very good at keeping possession with simple movements and a great reading of the game.
Will be interesting to see how if he keeps improving next season. And doesn't seem like a dirty player at all to me, that atrocious tackle he made in Belgium seems like an exceptional incident.
Such an easy transfer to make up. Real play Benfica in a friendly. Benfica win. Real now wants to buy someone from Benfica.
When we played Benfica Witsel was the player that stuck in my mind as the one who would best fit in our team at this point.
Portuguese papers are saying Witsel to the capital club is all but done...Mou has a nice pipeline to the Portuguese clubs, players & agents
Modric stuck at Spurs?
Modric stuck at Spurs?
The other bit of the Benfica rumour says that Coentrao wants to go back because he's fed up of the criticism he gets from the Madrid press/fans - who basically view him as a 30m pointless signing (aka gift to Mendes/Benfica.

They're now saying we've big €30M for him

Although the author herself later said:
"The Witsel to Madrid storm on here originates from an article in A Bola two days ago. Nothing new."
Tightens the siege on Witsel and say that the Belgian international did not continue the eagle's chest appears to be a certainty ever-stronger with each passing day. Missing, however, know the fate of the player, and now there is a kind of open war in the market for medium-red: Manchester United and Real Madrid player vying for the services, although at levels somewhat different.
In the Spanish capital, Jose Mourinho continues to make Modric, Tottenham, the top priority, though talks with the new club André Villas-Boas are blocked. The Spanish champions will claim to not give more than 38 million by the middle of the Spurs, as they want at least 40.
And it is precisely this point that comes ... Witsel. When it was found that the sweater is 28 of the Eagles, in fact, desired by the colossus of the neighboring country, but only in case of loss of employment of complicated Modric. And if those responsible for the Croatian international madridistas are not open to reach 40 million, the same approach adopted by Witsel.
Have Manchester United as THE GAME said, is even willing to reach 40 million stipulated in the termination clause of Witsel, but until then will try their luck with values below that. The latest proposal unofficially to reach the SAD was 33 million.
Very poetic

If we get Witsel I will be over the moon. Kagawa, Witsel, RVP and Powell. Would be amazing.

Witsel is a CM right?
Not buying it that were in for him then.
Probably the agent making up rumors trying to get more money out of the deal.
Trololol
What is it with all these players I've never even heard of being talked about in term of 30-40m fees? Granted that he could be amazing for all I know, but that's like the fecking norm these days...it's crazy.
The attempts to get him are continuing and the likelihood of him remaining a Benfica player decrease by the day.
