Is pep being too cute again with no DM?

I fancy Chelsea here seeing the line ups, though I fancied us the other night and look what happened.

Pep will either be hailed a genius if they win or get slaughtered if they lose.

Aw I’m kinda hyped for this now, disgusted with myself...

The two best English clubs of the 21st century. What a showdown

It should be an obvious choice for who we and football fans in general should want to win, Chelsea for sure.

City have so many options from the bench to influence the game defensively, in midfield or attack. The best squad depth in Europe

They both better than gundogan defensively though and fernandinho can foul a billion times a game. Got to exploit that.

Gundogan is better at ball retention, which will be key to limiting Chelsea's chances on the counter.

It's a move that may come off or not. My default is to assume managers have good reasons for their decisions, they aren't idiots (unlike us esteemed armchair managers)

I like the fact we have no ball winning midfielder to play against but I’m shitting it against that attack.

Pulisic hasn’t been great lately but he offers us something different.

Sterling is a gamble. He will most likely get a few chances. Whether he finishes them is the question.

If Pep really does do cocaine this is a very cocaine influenced team selection..

It’s not that cut and dry though. Utd fans: Chelsea all the way. Football fans in general: probably City if they are Pep fans. Some may want Chelsea as they might be seen as the underdog.
London fans: anyone but Chelsea.

It’s not that obvious

His inclusion brings a lot of pace that Chelsea will have to account for in one way or another. That adjustment (theoretically) may create more space for City. Or it may backfire, because instead of one risk taker in De Bruyne you introduce another one in Sterling.

Interested to see how Dias/Stones/Gundogan deal with Werner and Havertz. This will probably be the deepest Gundogan has played in a long time.

Football fans : cancel this year’s trophy !

Based on the starting XIs, I think Guardiola has taken a massive gamble and I’d consider Chelsea a huge threat. City are fortunate, however, should Plan A fail (and it does look like it might), they have a gazillion pounds worth of top class talent to call upon to rescue it.

This is closer to 50/50 than it really should be from City’s perspective, IMO. Guardiola usually befuddles his own players at least once per season in the Champions League knockouts with his tactics/lineups. Today could be the 2020/21 variety. Here’s hoping...

I want City to lose so badly, I even learned the word's to Chelsea's best song.

Chelsea Chelsea
Chelsea Chelsea
Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea

Chuckled.

I think Tuchel is smart enough to exploit Pep's tactics and the game seems fast more interesting now that they announced the lineups.

Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea, Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea! Lets av it Renties!

Gundogan at DM is encouraging. Pep outsmarting himself again?

Kante is my man tonight pinning all hope on him I think he’ll dominate tonight..

Pep is making a big mistake, he can't get through the Tuchel bus that easily. He's made them "hard to beat".
