Mame Biram Diouf to Blackpool?

Then you haven't seen very much.

Beckford was great for Leeds. And started to grow into his role a bit with Everton last season but needs more time.

I dont think anyone can say for sure that Diouf is the better striker

Off the top of my head Swansea, Everton, Newcastle

You could also make a good arguement that he is better than those at Wigan and Blackburn ---- also QPR don't look to have anyone great to me (i know they signed Bothroyd but he really is the most overrated player) and Norwich because their main striker is unproven outside lower league.

Sunderland have Gyan who does f-all in 95% of games and also paid a very large fee for Connor Wickham, younger I know but what i have seen of him if he is worth 8+ mill then 5+ for Diouf would be a bargain.

But Diouf is unproven too. So you cant say he is better than stikers for all these teams.

Wigan have Hugo Rodallega and Blackburn now have David Goodwillie. How can you say he is better than these players when we really have not seen enough of Diouf?

I think you have a lazy opinion based on the fact he was signed by us.

I would say Diouf is more proved than Goodwillie.
Interesting btw you listed Rodallega in there. He scored 9 goals in 37 matches for Wigan. Despite playing as a striker for majority and a good team.

Mine is a lazy opinion and yours isn't --- arrogance perhaps?

Beckford been around lower leagues for years released by leeds once as not good enough and will be sold by everton if they get any sort of bid.

David Goodwillie -- of course a PL player of proven ability lol

Rodellega -- come on can't you do better as an example?

I have watched them all and from that i based my opinion and its equally as valid as yours.

Beckford was not released by Leeds as not being good enough! They'd have loved to have kept him but he wouldn't renew his contract.

sorry my mistake - they sent him out on lone - I thought they let him go to scunthorpe and then brought him back after he did quite well.

I think the Rodellega one is fairly obvious.

Goodwillie is not proven in the PL, correct. But as I already said - neither is Diouf.

Is it not a bit telling that Steve Kean choose not to follow up with a bid after spending a year with the player and went for Goodwillie instead?

Steve Kean a better judge than SAF? I doubt it. Mame will go on to show why we brought him in. He may not be good enough for us but will go on to be a good striker I think.

You know your argument is a bit pathetic when you are bigging up Steve Kean's managerial stint.

Besides after the Rossi debacle, I thought it was well accepted that loan systems shouldn't be allowed to judge a player. If Sir Alex thinks he is worth keeping and by all accounts always rates him highly in interviews then I'm willing to go with him.

Kean played a very defensive line-up with one up front --- all his forwards suffered from lack of service and support. Diouf was usually played wide right and showed he had enough ability but was in a poor side with a very inexperienced underpressure manager who preffered the experienced Emerton.

Cleverley was left on the bench with Wigan a few times in the last few matches despite his form during most of the season ---again an underpressure manager turning to older more experienced players

That's a useless argument, really. Goodwillie cost less than half of what we want for Diouf. Blackburn aren't exactly throwing the cash around.

And the way Blackburn are run these days you'd best not use them as part of any sort of argument, except those concerned with how not to do things.

If Blackburn would have been interested in him then surely he would have been part of the Jones transfer?

Diouf is the sort of player who has it all physically and just need match experience (which we cannot afford to give him/think we have younger and better options) to become a striker who'll provide 10-15 goals easily in the league.

The main problem with him is that he's one for the near future and realistically speaking, only a relegation team can afford to stick with him throughout the season as they'll have not many other options and yet they'll be unwilling to do a permanent deal as they'll most likely lose out when they sell him once they get relegated.

Injury spells thats why. Nothing else.

This was nothing to do with injuries, he had come back into the team after them --- he was just used as a sub in most of their last few games ........ Managers decision.

Because he can back from injury.... and the team had already developed a momentum. Completely understandable. If he had not been injured and they had picked up a momentum with him in the team he would not have been on the bench.

Plus this has nothing to do with Diouf. Who was left out because he wasn't good enough.

Complete bolux what momentum???

I said Cleveryly was left out because a manager under pressure went for experience and the same happened to Diouf who had a much bigger role under big Sam than he did for kean.

Manchester United are ready to cut their losses on misfit forward Mame Biram Diouf, but are still determined to receive at least £6million for the Senegal international.

United signed the striker from Norwegian side Molde after he was recommended by former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and moved to Old Trafford in 2009.

The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impact in the first team and has twice been sent out on loan to try and prove his ability with spells at Molde and Blackburn Rovers.

Diouf scored just three league goals in his one-year spell at Ewood Park and returned to United in the summer with many expecting the striker to be sold.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson decided to keep hold of the forward and now plans to give him the opportunity to impress potential suitors in the Carling Cup.

According to the People, Ferguson will use the cup competition to showcase the ability of the powerful forward in the hope that they can sell in January.

The £6million price tag could put off a number of clubs, but Diouf is unlikely to get the chance in the Premier League at United with the likes of Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Manchester United Want £6million for Misfit Striker

i don't think he is a misfit, just that it tough for him to get into our side with the strikers we got.

Great job. Make up a transfer story a week after the loan window closes. Asshole journalists.

He should be patient and wait around.

We'll lose Owen and probably Berbatov at the end of the season. Presuming no more come in that would leave us with Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Macheda and Diouf.

We can loan him to a Championship side.

We will never receive £6m.

If we lost Berbatov and Owen, then Ferguson would bring in someone else. He's never going to make the breakthrough at United.

If we lose Berbatov and Owen we will still be left with Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck competing for two spots, plus Macheda who is a useful striker as well. King who is highly rated will come back at the end of season and could be used as an emergency striker, and Keane is supposed to be good as well. I don't really think that we are going to need any more strikers.

I don't think he would. Not unless he decides Macheda doesn't have a future at the club anyway.

I don't think we've ever had the depth of strikers we have now, with a combination of proven names and young promising talent.
