Mame Biram Diouf to Blackpool?

Looking at all this footage and what has been said Mame looks like he fits well in the squad and is a friendly bloke to boot and works well with the other. Maybe he is 'The One' but not the certain 'The One' that has been profited.

He's the Neville Longbottom of our squad.

Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf has played down reports linking him with a move to Blackpool.

The Senegal marksman, who was loaned to Blackburn last season, was reportedly wanted by Seasiders boss Ian Holloway.

Diouf is currently on the Red Devils' pre-season tour of the United States and he has not heard anything from the Bloomfield Road outfit.

The 23-year-old former Molde man wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for a first-team place despite the fact Sir Alex Ferguson has a plethora of strikers at his disposal.

"I've not heard about that one," he said of Blackpool's reported interest on Sky Sports News.

"People are asking me about Blackpool, but no one's spoken to me. It's all just rumours.

"Of course I'd like to stay at Manchester United, everyone dreams about playing for this club.

"When I got a chance to be with them I always wanted to be here. I want to win trophies here.

"I'll do my best, but we'll see what happens after pre-season."

Pointless really, he must know he will never make it at the club. I will be shocked if he is not either loanded or sold before September

I'd be surprised if Blackpool have the money to pay around £5m for Diouf and his current wages will be £750K - £1m. I thought they had a pay ceiling of 500k when they were in the premier league.

They won't pay £5m for Diouf because he isn't worth that. He hasn't proven anything at Premier League level and it'd be reasonable to let him go for circa £1m.

Why do we sign players like Diouf and Manucho when we always make a loss on them only a year or two later

Do we make a loss? We usually come out on top. Players with the touch of United always get a bump in price. Plus Fergie's network of past players always ensures we have a good market for our over price rejects. Richardson anyone?

I'm prettu sure we've made a profit on Manucho who was sold for £2m+. Also, of all these weird transfers Hernandez has worked out pretty well so his arrival alone made up for all the pointless signings we have made.

He was good with Blackburn. They are in the PL. He's quick and strong. I find him better than Benjani, Roberts, Jerome, Zigic. Sunderland currently have one forward. Bolton currently have one forward.

Had a decent 45 minutes and glad to see he isn't phased by rumours and his focus is to fight for a spot. If we weren't overloaded with strikers, I think he'd have a shot to at least play in cup games and some dead rubber European games. Thought he worked a lot harder than Macheda without the ball in terms of tracking back and putting pressure on the ball.

I think he'd do well in the PL - he is strong, good in the air and perhaps with time and confidence can improve on his finishing. If he is sold, I can see us getting 5m for him.

His best part of his game (besides his ridiculous athleticism) is his ability to pick a pass.

Needs to work on his positioning in the box and finishing though.

Loan him I say.

That's exactly what i noticed from his time at Blackburn, some of his crossing and passing was fantastic. His dribbling was pretty decent as well, but his finishing actually let him down.

After watching that Swansea game yesterday he'd be a good addition to that side.

They've got 2 really quick wingers and play good football. He'd do well there IMO.

im sure fergie expected to sell him this window.. But he has not done much wrong since being here.

I just don't see how many chances he'll get this season with the first team. With Rooney, Chicharito, Berbatov, Owen, Welbeck and Macheda, he wouldn't even get near our bench I'm afraid.

I'll be surprised if he's still here when the transfer window closes.

Saw a rumour of him being linked with Newcastle.. Any truth to it?

TBF to him, he hasn't really had much chances in the first team. He scored on his OT debut, he's done well for the reserves and in pre-season. He did alright on loan at Blackburn too.

He hasn't been given much chances, but I don't see that he'll get much more IMO.

He has done well in Preseason, obviously doesn't have a future here but will do a good job for a lower-midtable Premier League side.

It's also worth pointing out that in the last two-three interviews when talking about the young prospects at this club, Fergie has always named Diouf as one of them, may not mean much though.

From the Mirror

Manchester United want a staggering £6million fee for Mame Biram Diouf - after snubbing moves from Premier League rivals to take the reserve striker on loan.

The 23-year-old Senegalese forward was on loan at Blackburn last season and had a hit-and-miss campaign.

He scored a hat-trick in only his third Rovers appearance, against Norwich in the Carling Cup, but managed only three further goals in 29 more appearances.

But United chief Sir Alex Ferguson still wants a sky-high price for him, and interested clubs have been told that he is available for a permanent move rather than for hire.

Blackburn, Everton and Fulham have all checked out Diouf’s availability, but none seem keen on him at United’s inflated valuation.

Diouf's first-team goal

Mame Biram Diouf hopes his flying start for the Reserves this term will lead to more opportunities in the first team.

The Senegalese striker hit a brace in the second string’s 6-0 win over Swansea on Thursday, having also scored in the season-opening defeat to Arsenal.

As one of seven strikers in the first-team squad, Diouf knows he needs to continue to work hard if he is to add to his six appearances for Sir Alex’s side.

“Football is always a competition but hopefully I'll get more opportunities, more games and more experience,” he told MUTV.

“Being at United is a wonderful thing and being one of the seven strikers is only going to help me learn. It's always good to play alongside Rooney, Welbeck or Berbatov.

“I've got two Reserves games under my belt now, I'm working hard and focusing on the next game, so I can be ready for whenever I get the chance in the first team.”

He's easily worth 6m and we should not sell for less.

I like the guy, very athletic, plenty of pace, and works really hard. His main failing has been tendancy to miss the easier chances. IMO a better player than some PL teams have got as their main striker now and still improving.

Jason Roberts out performed him last season

What main strikers is he better than?

He would be brilliant for Everton. He's a good player. Better than any striker they have except for Saha who is injured most of the time anyway. He's most likely not on high wages. I think he'll go on loan there.

Off the top of my head Swansea, Everton, Newcastle

You could also make a good arguement that he is better than those at Wigan and Blackburn ---- also QPR don't look to have anyone great to me (i know they signed Bothroyd but he really is the most overrated player) and Norwich because their main striker is unproven outside lower league.

Sunderland have Gyan who does f-all in 95% of games and also paid a very large fee for Connor Wickham, younger I know but what i have seen of him if he is worth 8+ mill then 5+ for Diouf would be a bargain.
