Blackpool have had a bid accepted for Manchester United attacker Mame Biram Diouf.

Rumours broke out yesterday that the Seasiders were in the hunt for the Senegal international and that has since become fact after a number of reputable sources of information are confirming an accepted bid privately.

The fee is not known and it would be difficult to speculate on. Likewise with the player's wages.

Diouf was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009 from Molde after he notched 29 goals in 63 games for the Norwegian side.

He scored on his United home debut against Burnley in January 2010, but like many youngsters at Old Trafford, Diouf understandably struggled to command a first team place.

A season-long loan move to Blackburn Rovers followed last season where he was employed as a winger by Sam Allardyce and then Steve Keen - scoring against Arsenal, Bolton and West Brom.

If the player is able to agree personal terms at Bloomfield Road it would be considered a huge coup for the Pool. After failing to meet Nile Ranger's demands, it remains to be seen whether they can strike a deal with Diouf.

Two players Ian Holloway has tied up - as reported by us last week - are midfielders Barry Ferguson and Gerardo Bruna who are expected to be unveiled early this week.

Makes sense to me.. I think 1 more striker will leave the club.. My money would be on Welbeck to go out on 1 last season long loan..

macheda will get loaned about before welbeck i reckon.

This. Kiko had a crap loan in italy, loan him out to english club to get vital time in the league. Welbeck was fantastic for Sunderland and done well for England U21, would be ready to go for us.

The promenade was this big!

I doubt Diouf would want to go to Blackpool in the Championship. Surely a lower PL club would be better. Can't see him staying with us, though.

I'd be surprised if Blackpool have the money to pay around £5m for Diouf and his current wages will be £750K - £1m. I thought they had a pay ceiling of 500k when they were in the premier league.

Eh?

He will cost nothing like £5m, more like £2m, also his wages will probably be around £10k a week there you'd guess, no matter what he will get a paycut this summer.

Also don't forget the enormity of parachute payments and that 2 of the 3 highest paid players they had (Adam & Vaughan) have left and the other (DJ Campbell) is expected to leave.

We will sell him for cheap and insert a decent sell on clause..

What's the point ? Blackpool aren't going to sell anyone for £15m+ so our percentage isn't going to be worth much. We could loan him out to a premier league side and he would still have a year on his deal at the end of the season. Or do a loan deal up until Christmas then look to sell him during the winter transfer window. If he's a spectacular success on loan we could keep hold of him and use him in the 4th striker role coming off the bench.

We are Manchester United! We care about the players long term future more than a odd million GBP here and there.. If its best for all parties for him to go on loan he will.. If its best for him to be sold on he will.. We will do whatever is best for both parties involved.. We always have done.. That's what makes us better than the rest of the clubs in the world..

Blackpool will have both the Adam money and the parachute payments, but they also have a money-grabbing owner trousering as much cash as he can. Hence why they spent so little when they were promoted.

Were they not just skint?

That's complete rubbish. Jaap Stam wanted to stay at United so we sold him to Lazio. Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool so we sold him to Real Madrid. I could go on and on. What is best for United, what is best for the player and what is best for other clubs interested, are rarely in harmony.

Why should he get a pay cut this summer ? He has 2 years left on his deal. His current earnings are likely to be approx £750K given that Bebe, Welbeck and Macheda signed deals around that figure.

Would make sense for him if its loan or permanent. He isn't going to get many games here.

Really wonder why we ever signed him in the 1st place. Was one of those like Manucho who as soon as you saw them play once had a feeling they would never make it at the club.

Sadly Bebe and Obertan will be added to this list too.

Tosic possibly but whenever I have seen him play since he has looked talented

Agreed.

Makes sense. He'll do well in the championship. Never really looked united quality.

Obertan showed potential to be fair, but seems to have chronic confidence and consistency issues.

Please do go on and on.. Because I am sure there were reasons behind every such transfer..

What information? About the wages and such?

where do these transfer storys originate from.where do you find the breaking news,

Totally different circumstances, those players were established already. Stam left because of a falling out with SAF and was sold to a good club for a good fee. Heinze was a great player for United before Evra took his spot so United didn't want to sell him to a Premier League rival, all pretty simple really.

I think what Chirag is saying is that United generally try their utmost to make sure players they sell on get a suitable club, particularly younger unestablished ones. I'm not sure myself if that applies to Dioufs situation but I can understand what Chirag is getting at. Those examples given are completely irrelevant though.

Why we keep on selling players like Diouf and Wes? What's next? Should we sell PIG, Bebe (who is on loan) and Gibson too? :(:(

I like Mame. He should have gotten a chance.

A player who could not dislodge Jason Roberts from a poor Blackburn side. Who Blackburn have not attempted to purchase after having him for a season and no other PL clubs appear to be enquiring about him.

But he deserves a chance with Man Utd?

He is a Championship standard player or at best a lower PL standard.

Obertan has no consistency issues: he's been consistently shite.

That one good performance at Wolfsburg seems to have been blown out of all proportion by some fans, as a means of proving his supposedly huge talent. I can't see how he's any better than, say, Bellion.
