Mahrez | Signed with City

I hope he joins City. Let's see how he likes it once Sane returns and he's benched. Isn't good enough to be a starter for them when everyone is fit.

I don't think he would mind. He is desperate to join a top club not just for trophies, but for wages in all likelihood. He is not going to lose his place in his national team even if he becomes a bit-part player like Giroud was at Arsenal, and with that salary, I reckon he will be happy getting whatever game-time is promised to him along with winning silverware.

On Bluemoon

Aaaagh my mates journo's dad - i know before you slate me haha - reckons Leicester have said yes to 62.5m + 4.5m in add ons. He works as a well known free lance journo in the east and west Midlands and isn't known for bull shitting, in fact he's a bloody nice chap - he says no replacement is needed as they have bowed to Mahrez's personal pleads and they feel it would be wrong to turn him down after he stayed with them after the league win when he could have forced through a move to a bigger club. Apparently they asked him to stay for a year to see if the club would grow - which it hasn't. The same with Vardy. Could be bull shit but dont think so knowing the chap so well. Still a rush to get it done though apparently, whatever that means. I'll try and find out more. Is this what you have heard

Your argument is predicated on the assumption that City will not blow a fortune in the summer. This is simply an unrealistic and unprecedented assumption. City is likely to spend more than every other club in the summer, as they have done every transfer window since the oil state took over.

What's impressive about Pep is that he has somehow accelerated this spending! PayPal Guardiola indeed.

You're right in your first bit but in all fairness no one knows who's going to spend what in the summer. I was simply stating if we brought in Mahrez this window that the only position of need left is a central midfielder (e.g. Fred) for the summer. I'm sure City will sign some young lads and loan them out elsewhere but in terms of strengthening the senior squad, that's it. Mangala will be off in the summer and Toure's contract is up but other than that the only first teamers I can possibly see leaving are Bravo and Danilo, both of which we have good players out on loan in their position.

If City spend big in the summer it'd be because Aguero's asked to leave, which would almost certainly require another striker coming in.

What about young players from City academy? Doesn't he have any responsibility in developing young players and integrate them to the squad? Or there will be excuses for everything Pep does even signing back up payers for more than 60 Million?

Mate if it was up to me we'd wait until the summer to bring in the new forward and just give the minutes to Bernardo and Brahim for now. I would just say due to a lot of logical reasons, Pep and Txiki want to bring in the forward now as opposed to the summer.

God forbid that Pep plays a youth player instead of getting Mahrez for £65m due to an injury. We are told that the City youth academy is bursting with top talent, so why isn't Pep giving one a proper chance now to step in for Sane?

Cause he wants to win the quadruple and leave for PSG? :wenger:

Is this true that Mahrez told the owner if he doesn't move this January he will considering playing badly on purpose?

Striking players seems a new thing.

City have lots of money so feck it, if they want to spend then it's their choice.

Just seems odd in relation to the Sanchez situation and feels like a bit of a panic buy

I honestly think he will do well there and will see more game time than some think.
Honest answer, by saying thanks in a one word reply. So sassy.

And then laughing when you thought you weren't corrected, when in fact you were.
I know it's the daily mail but a quote is a quote.

To be honest I was trying just to bring it to an end. You really think telling someone they are "corrected" isn't sassy? I dont believe Wenger, I stated that at the start.

we have Vardy, Huth and Wes Morgan training with him every day, if he tries that I guarantee he would get injured in a training ground "accident"

Correcting someone if they're wrong isn't necessarily sassy.

Who could it be? Delph, Mangala, or one of the young guys I suppose.

it wouldn't be a loan deal the player would come permanently

Oh. Well, would be strange to send on Delph when he's really done a job for them out of position and is quite versatile. Given that none of the youth play, would be likelier it's a youngster...anyone there you fancy?

no one has said its Delph and we don't need Cm's we are sending one out on loan as we have too many

Should be Bernardo Silva - good replacement for Leicester and one that doesn't play at all at City

Mahrez cost 400K. They might be making 150 times what they paid for him. Whoever made that decision back in the day should get a little bonus.

Erm you know he has played 34 games this season so far right? well probably not as you say he never plays... anyway:

22 in the league
6 champions league
5 league cup
1 fa cup

He might not start all the games but plays in most and given Sane is injured and that stirling is playing the odd game up front as well I cant see any reason they would let somebody who is playing in the vast majority of their games go...

And to put it in perspective he has played 1571 mins this season or on average about 46 mins per game when he has been involved so its not like he is just playing a couple of mins at the end - he has stared around half the games he has played and overall has about as many minutes on the pitch as Gundogan or Jesus

:D

In some business ventures, investors expect the company they are investing in, to spend a lot and not be afraid to spend, big. This shows that the company has ambition and is attempting to go places (rather than stand still and allow the competition to pass them by).
Perhaps his bosses are using this mind-set and have told him that he needs to spend at a faster rate.

Patrick Roberts is injured otherwise he'd be the one to go. City rate Foden/Diaz so it can't be them. Leicester don't need Mangala and it looks like he's going to Everton. City are not going to let go of Bernardo or any other player in the first team so the obvious choice is Zinchenko or another youth player they don't think highly of (like Celina or those other youth in Girona [Maffeo etc.]).

@sun_tzu would it be fair to say Bernardo Silva hasn't played as much as you'd expect a £50m signing to play?

To say he has played the same amount of minutes as 2 players who've spent spells out injured isn't exactly a great support of his case.

Any other club would be ridiculed for paying that much for a player who has only really been a squad option thus far. However, it was similar with Sane last year too, or at least early last year. And they're reaping the benefits of that this yeat .

A fantastic luxury that you can ease £50m footballers into your team because your first team is doing a great job already.

Do they actually though - have they had any real game time? As in not the odd start in a shitty cup or 5mins at the end of a game?

Genuine question, not trying to WUM

deal is off, according to sky.

It's going to be very tough for Mahrez if the deal is off. Apparently Leicester players are fuming with his attempts to force the move. I can't see any way back for him in that team.
