So what's your take then?

  • Cheating?
  • Poor sportsmanship?
  • Common Sense?
  • Everything that's wrong with the World is Mourinho's fault?

Well?

What happened?

They were 4-0 up when Alonso and Ramos deliberately got 2nd yellows meaning they miss the dead rubber in the group but their yellow's are then wiped clean for the next stage.

I can't see an awful lot wrong with it. They're going to serve the same suspension as any player who gets sent off and I'm sure they didn't try to injure the other players so it's up to them really.

I personally prefer Madrid to Barca (funnily enough), but it must be said: if Iniesta and Alves had done it for Barcelona, it would have been a tirade of abuse towards them on here.

For me, it's all fair, smart play ... just saying.

They would have been lauded for there intelligence most likely.

No they'll get one game and their yellows will be wiped out for the group stages.

Fair enough, it's what I'd do

It was very clever and smart but an absolute disgrace imo. Jose would be the best person to take over at United but I honestly don't want us to start pulling off this kind of shit if he does come.

fair play, strikes me that Mourinho i the only one with the arrogance to do that kinda thing.

Wish we'd have done similar things in the past tbh

Mourinho seems to be the only one with the balls to do it

I'm sure over the years there will be examples of our players getting deliberate yellow cards in the league to miss an 'easy' game and be back for a more crucial match.

It might be unsportsmanship but its within the rules. The rules can create perverse incentives at times.

There's been examples years back of our players openly admitting getting straight reds so as to get the christmas/new year period off!

I think we have done it, it's as old as the yellow card rue. Seriously, Mourinho isn't the first one to have done this, I did it in an amateur tournament.

And considering how furious Fergie was when Ole took the red card vs Newcastle I pretty much doubt we would ever pull off anything like this under him.

It's a very clever thing to do but rather unsportsmanlike.

I'm pretty sure we have done that, not exactly wasting time to get a yellow card but a little kick when the result is in the pocket, a handball.
