Manchester United's Federico Macheda Has Inter, Juventus And Lazio Showing Interest In January Loan - Report

Federico Macheda has been told he can leave Manchester United on loan, and the big guns of Serie A are ready to pounce.

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda looks set for a return to Italy after being given the green light to leave Old Trafford for the remainder of the season on loan.

Reports on Fiorentina.it suggest there are a number of clubs willing to land the talented youngster, however the deal would likely be a temporary one with player, manager and agent, all ruling out a permanent move from the EPL leaders.

Inter, Juventus, Fiorentina, Lazio, Genoa and Udinese are all reportedly lining up a move for the 19-year-old, who has played both in the league and the UEFA Champions League for the Red Devils this season.

if he goes back to Italy he won't come back

It's realistic though because he's good enough to be a starter for any mid-table side like Genoa or Fiorentina there, and he'd probably be able to get into Juventus side as well. That would get him closer to an international call-up. Besides, the way Serie A has been lately a team like Lazio or Genoa may soon find themselves in Champions League anyway, it's not the strongest league in the world but the quality of those mid-table sides is impressive and they mostly seem to play good football as well. Oh, and another thing is that there are plenty of transfers going on there so a good season or two at a mid-table side would probably grant him a transfer to Milan or Inter.

It'll be tempting for him, no doubt, as he's not going to get much playing time at United in the next couple of years. I've pointed that out a week or two ago that there's a possibility of him joining an Italian side sooner or later because he might not be able to win his place at United, I stand by that.

Yeah I can't see him getting in ahead of Rooney, berba and Chicharito either.

He could be ahead of Hernandez because I think he has at least as much potential and is a different sort of player so he'd be an option, there's no way he's going to beat Berbatov or Rooney though and in Italy he could become a first team player for any side. A month ago, when Rooney wanted to go, I thought Macheda could be his replacement but Rooney stayed and it's the same old stuff again.

He's probably worth about £8m in the market which could come handy to us too.

would be good for the lad , but I would rather he stay in this country.
A Championship team would be better , if he goes to Italy I don't think he would come back , he could easily get a regular first team place in most Serie A teams and I dont think he would want to come back and fight for his place at United.

I dont see him getting games consistantly on loan with a premiership side so my preference would be for championship side if he is to go on loan. Someone like Forest or Derby would suit him.

I think a return to Italy wouldnt be ideal unless Fergie has made a decision on his long term future.

We should loan him to Fulham. They are really struggling for a goalscorer and he could get valuable experience there, while also meaning Fulham don't have to shell out from their limited resources

Or Birmingham, makes sense that if the lad is getting limited pitch time he should be getting it elswhere, plus the fact he might bag a goal or two against our other title challengers.

Loan him to Leeds - they could use him for the promotion push (and leaving aside the fan sentiment, United have done plenty of business with Leeds).

I was actually thinking the exact same thing. That'd give us a good indication of his mentality if he went there and did well. I quite like Leeds where they are though...

Having said that, I don't see the point in sending him out just yet while Welbeck and Diouf are also on loan. I'd wait till next season.

Federico Macheda’s agent, Marcello Bonetto, has revealed that the young striker may well be on his way to Italy on loan.

“Federico could leave United, that is true, but only on loan,” he said. “The club and Ferguson have absolute faith in Chico. With the return of Michael Owen, confirmation of Wayne Rooney, plus fine form for Dimitar Berbatov and Hernandez, the space for him in Manchester has been reduced. We talked it over and were given the all-clear by Ferguson to go on loan for six months in January to gain experience. If we do decide to leave Manchester, then Italy represent the most likely destination. Up until now we have not been contacted by anybody, but will only choose a club that can guarantee Federico consistent playing time. That’s the only reason for leaving Manchester

Kiko Ready For Loan To Italy

Ipswich & Keano could do with him too, he could play a big part in getting them up via the play-offs. I'd rather him go there than to Leeds.

Where ever he goes i hope he doesn't end up going back to Italy, he could get fond of the place.

I really hope he doesn't move to Italy. What he needs is redular football in this country even if that means in the Championsip.

The only Premier League sides I could see him getting games are Blackpool, Wigan or Wolves.

Dont like the idea of sending him back to Itay tbh, surely another English team would jump at the chance of signing him? Villa could do with him even if it is so he doesn't score against them again this season :smirk:

If this does go through i'm finding it hard to see how this would not be permanent.

Why would we not send him somewhere in England? If he goes to Italy I can't see him being back here again as he is only naturally going to feel more at home there and probably more settled. He could start for a lot of the teams in the lower end of the Prem and gain some valuable experience, as well as probably have a good effect on thier season.

Yeah, I would agree with most of the lot here that if he does go out on loan, a way back looks bleaker given Rooney is now settled and is first choice, so is berba, none of them are retiring anytime soon and we have Hernandez as 3rd choice who himself has done well given the lack of pitch time and lack of familiarity with the team and the league.

Another thing that might instigate a permanent move is Welbeck flourishing immensely for another team in the PL which gives him the edge over Kiko in the fight for 4th spot.

I really see this ending in Fergie having to make a hard call in choosing one of either Welbeck or Kiko and as of now, Welbeck has a healthy lead on Kiko. Though I do feel that Kiko just needs more gametime in the PL to flourish himself.

He needs a kick up the arse - getting sent by Fergie on loan to a Championship club would be good for him.

I can't see any point, at this stage in his United career, of playing temporarily in Serie A. Far better to get some games, and a dose of real life, at a lower leagueclub in England.

Why would we send him on loan to a second division side when he's good enough to play at more than a few Premier League sides and most Italian sides? He'd probably not be too keen on such move anyway and I don't blame him.

I suggested this exact thing a while ago - that he could go on loan to Italy soon as he is not playing and he may never come back, strange that hardly anyone agree with me back then but then again most go with the voice of the rest.

A successful loan to Serie A would be a nightmare in terms of us keeping him.

If he plays well in Italy he'll be advised on how to make himself a regular Italy international player and the first thing he'll be looking for is lots first team starts. Like with Rossi.

If he plays well in England, Spain or anywhere else he'll be kept out of that kind of limelight in Italy a bit longer and will be more likely to accept a squad role. Rather than looking to be fast tracked into the Italian team.

Because he's likely to sit on the bench at most Premiership sides.

I just hope we get good money when we sell him, I reckon around 10 million pounds would be more than sufficient

Why are you muppets talking about selling him!! The kid just needs games he's bloody 18 for frig sack!! He's got plenty of time to build a career here... Jeezzz. I think a loan move to a mid table italian team will do him well.

I find it a bit weird that all the stories about this in the press refer to Owen's return to fitness as a reason for Macheda going out on loan for the rest of the season.

Personally, I think SAF has stopped using Owen in his plans. He's clearly been behind Macheda in the pecking order for some time and often doesn't even make the bench.

I doubt SAF is planning to use him much for the rest of the season, and his physical state has reached the point where it surely doesn't make sense to rely on him to the point that you'd send Macheda to Italy for the rest of the season.

I wouldn't want to get the muppets too excited but as Owen isn't a reason for letting Macheda go, something else must be...

Unless it's to another Prem side I don't think a loan is such a great idea, we certainly don't want him getting settled back in Italy.

Seeing as Diouf is doing pretty well ( certainly his first touch and passing have been improving ) a loan wouldn't do us harm...

Hernandez hasn't been playing that much either and we all know he can do a good job, Owen is back soon too, not to mention we usually use 4-5-1 for big games...

Berbatov has been awesome :)

So a loan wouldn't be a bad idea... We can always use Obertan in the hole.

Given his age and stage of development, he desperately needs to play in more competitive games and at a good level to generate consistancy in his performances.

Everton is a very good choice given the excellent inter club relationship that exists, the quality coaching structure in place as well as the mentality and character of their manager. He would do well as their back up striker and could even form a deadly partnership with a fir and on form Saha.

Im all for a loan deal with Everton and would prefer to a move to Serie A where he might get yearnings to 'go back home'.
