Football is not just an intellectual experience. It's also an emotional/passionate one. When your coaching staff and especially your head coach/manager sits there like a dead feck, it's a problem. I don't know of one other manager who just sits there and refuses to get up and gee up their players. There's a technical area there for a reason. It needs to be used sometimes. The entire coaching staff and manager need to go ASAP.

I attended some of the bad defeats (West Brom, Liverpool and City) under Moyes management and never heard boos like that before.
I'm willing with every fibre of my being that he'll be gone later today.
He will be gone by midweek. This feels exactly like it did after Moyes lost that Everton game.
Lets hope Ed handles it better this time and tells LVG first rather than media.
It definitely feels like a point of no return in terms of the fans. 95 % of us have now turned on him completely. Hard to see anywhere to go from here. And if the board know he's a dead man walking, why wait another minute before making the inevitable decision?

Because I think the circumstances are as much to blame as he is. He's not helped himself at times but he's been unlucky.
I'm not sure if he's lost any of the players, they may not enjoy playing for him but I think his management style and authority means none of them would risk dropping their level to see him sacked. He has however lost the fans and with the media on his back too, there's an air of tension and pressure that makes it very tough for players to pick themselves up and start winning again. It's generally at this point that a change of leadership is the only fix.
He hasn't been unlucky for 18 months.
Actually he's been lucky. People predicted this would happen a few months ago. We rode our luck a few months ago.

Been unlucky how? By not winning in our last 6 games and having 7 shots on target at OT in our last 3? Those stats tell me it's a little more than being unlucky mate. If you mean in injuries, then again it's his fault we are so thin.
If that's the best our players can give, then we have serious issues going forward.
Playing for United alone brings a degree of tension. Winning is a must and that's the pressure the players are under from the get go when signing for United. Pressure at big clubs is always there, and you are not sure the players can pick themselves up because of the media and the fans? What about looking at the manager to pick them up? That's his job after all isn't it?

Patience friend, patience, surely it will happen. I'd be amazed if it didn't happen.
As I've said, if Mourinho is willing to join us right away, then I'm all for hiring him and letting van Gaal go. That only makes sense if we seem as our next long term solution though because I doubt Jose will want to be a short term fix for anybody.
There's no point sacking him until we know what we are doing next. The worst thing for us to do right now would be to sack him without a successor lined up and end up with the wrong person for the job again.
On the other hand we can keep him in charge and continue with the same brand of football that's seen this slump kick in. Let's face facts, his team has been heavily defensive all season, the walls have started crumbling and we aren't scoring the goals to counter the goals conceded.
We need to get rid now, let someone man the post until we get our new manager in. I'd be a lot more comfortable with a temporary manager in charge as I feel Van Gaal has lost this team.
I doubt we could attract the top managers at the moment. A short term Mourinho fix could put us back up there challenging for the best.
I think he will survive for the time being, but I can't see us winning either of next two and you then There will be no option but to sack him otherwise we will be writing off the season and he will go at end of the season anyway.

I'd be content with a temporary solution until we can get the right man but struggling to think of anyone suitable for that role. Giggs would be a big risk at this stage. I think Ferguson is the only man that would guarantee us a top 4 finish as Jose would never take it on a temporary basis
That's what I thought when I read the post. United fans like that are just blinkered.

Oh ffs. José Mourinho is up there with the best managers in the world. When he was head to head with SAF, I thought that Mourinho was the second best in the world with SAF being number one.
