It's the PSV games that really bothered me - awful team who we should have beaten easily, like the Man City game, they were there for the taking but LVG played it safe. It's not the right kind of attitude for a Man Utd manager. He can't say the players aren't good enough, it's his team, he bought pretty much all of them. I credit him with giving games to the youngsters and ending the long ball nonsense that was Moyes. I'm not ready to give up on him, he'll have to change his attitude, at least today we played to win but that he has to be forced to do so, is worrying. Put it this way, I'd rather lose 3-2 in an exciting game than draw or lose 1-0 to a dire team like PSV.
He won't be sacked though, but if 4th starts to look shaky serious questions will be asked and right now I am looking at the teams below us not those above us. Spurs and Liverpool aren't far away and we are more likely to draw than win games, a few "unlucky" results and we will tumble down the table. We're close to the top because Man City and Arsenal have been so inconsistent, while Leicester are flying. Missing out on the top 4 is a real possibility, people aren't really discussing it and are still calling us title contenders but I don't see it that way, we won't lose many but we won't win many either, one new striker isn't going to solve that (although I still think we should bin Rooney).
I think the festive games and the winter transfer window will tell us which direction the club is heading in and if it's not a solid period then I expect much stronger calls for LVG to go. Right now, I'd prefer to see him stick it out and hopefully he will learn from this and start attacking teams - I won't hold my breath though!
