The only thing that has changed is that we put the ball in the back of the net twice. It's a carbon copy of how we have been performing for a while.
I think the majority can see that the players have got more freedom and are pressing more than before. Yes, we have burned a couple of decent chances in the previous games but the overall play is much more eye-pleasing, relatively.

We can keep on complaining, moaning, stomping .... but I think its clear the board will not sack him yet. And Im glad they are trying to ride out the crisis.

Is it not better spend your valuable energy being supportive and trying to find joy that way?

I think LvG reign has ran it's course. From now on it's damage limitation.

Wouldn't you have preferred Moyes to be sacked even sooner before we lost every chance to get into top four?

From what I've seen this season, the lack of strikers as well and that we're one injury away from being even more impotent in attack that we're now I think it's a better idea to sack him now and get a competent manager that could get us into top four position(or at least have a better chance of doing so) and not ruin the next season as well.

I think having a new manager now will not be only good and better for the team right now, but also beneficial for the club in the long run.

Would've you been on the same stance if that Fabianski header went in?

 that was abit mad!!! Very unlucky for them.

The first half was up there with the worst this season. De Gea must have had the most touches of all our players.

2nd half was better but still pretty dross stuff. Still needs to go.

The over reaction on here is just too excessive.

Despite not winning a game the entire month of December and forgetting how to score goals, we are still 5th and only 1 point behind 4th place team.

2 excellent transfers and a few more wins in January, and we'll be right in the mix again.

Are you sure you are not under-reacting? What makes you think we will get 2 excellent transfers in (considering January is difficult to get in top class talent), and more importantly, what makes you think we get a few more wins in January? The evidence before you is that we have one win in nine. Of that free fall, we played absolutely horrendous football. We didn't deserve to win against Chelsea and we barely squeaked by Swansea today. You are placing your view on assumptions and the LVG out folks (I'm one of them) are placing their view on fact. We are 5th because other teams are equally inconsistent and due to our own performance.

won a game, storm's over, close thread?

who's first for an angry response?

Yea exactly, still for me 0 wins out of 8 is still huge alarm bells that cannot be understated, perhaps people should wait until February before saying we will do this and that, because many seem to forget we got to go to spurs, chelsea, liverpool and city

Everyone banging on about what if Fabianskis header had gone in.. Well it didn't! What if one of the shots against Chelsea had gone in.

What matters is the result and the fact that our 2 forwards scored, people want to take any negative they can to beat lvg down. Just be happy we won and looked brought on the attack.

Did you see that first half? The only possible explanation is that they're not all 100% behind him. Why else would they look so disinterested and shit?

They didn't look disinterested. It's a team sorely lacking confidence and heads seem to drop if we don't get the early goal. Fortunately we did get that in the 2nd half.

I think it was an even match that deserved to end as a draw. Really can't draw any positives from this game today. Swansea did more than enough to get a point today and DDG once again was one of the best players on the pitch.

IMO LvG still has the dressing room and the players want to play for him, yet his tactics are still not working. If he loses the dressing room it could be really ugly.

From what I saw today from Newcastle and United I think the former team is the favorite in the next league tie.

I honestly don't think we played that good today as some are saying, we just got the result(which of course is important).

We could be realistic, given what we've seen in our last 20 games or so or hide our heads in the sand after one narrow win against a side that is without a manager and 2 points off relegation zone.

Today we fielded our best team possible. I can't see attracting a top forward this window. What happens if we start to pick up injuries?

But a goal in the second half is not an early goal. Instead, the team kept its shape, and even when Swansea equalised, they just rolled up their sleeves attacked, and came back to win the game. Rooney's flick was full of impudence and confidence, if you ask me. Which heads dropped? What team are you talking about? What match are you talking about? What sport does your post refer to?

May or may not be relevant but here's Tampa Bay Buccaneers annual win/loss records in the NFL. Glazers have owned the team since 1995. Our board of directors are made out of many Glazers.

It's very difficult to draw any conclusions from that comparison for a few reasons.

1) The Buccaneers historically have been among the worst teams in the NFL since their inception
2) They are one of the least supported teams nationally
3) There is no real penalty for losing. No relegation and the team still makes tons of money, and then gets the best young players in the draft

FIRST HALF v SECOND HALF: "I think the first half was a better half than the second half; the difference is that we scored the goals and everyone is saying the second half is better. We scored two fantastic goals and you only win by scoring goals but, as a team, our performance in the first half was better and we didn't give any chances away in the first half."

Of course he liked the first half better. We created feck all and it was 0-0.

Exciting times ahead, lads.

We're going to have to put up with this shit till the end of the season... If he can survive through a run of 8 winless games, then he can survive anything.

I can very easily see him being here next season.

Most likely we'll improve just about enough to inch into a top four place, given a couple of expensive January signings and the relative dross above us. We'll then overlook Guardiola and Mourinho (having already overlooked Ancelotti) and talk this summer about building on this year and putting together a real title challenge next year given our improved form in the second half of the season. Then we'll struggle to another top four finish at which point he'll be replaced by Giggs or perhaps a Conte/Mancini tier type, and we'll go through an extended period of time of being like Chelsea in the interim between Mourinho's management spells.

Some of you remind me of Newcastle fans under Pardew when they won.

Just so desperate for him to be sacked you become a parody

We got told the same shit by folks like you when it was December 2013 under Moyes, after he had lost to Everton and Newcastle at home.

The writing was on the wall and we knew it was headed for disaster. But some decided to take 'one game at a time' and 'look for the positives'.

Sorry, I'm not an idiot and I'm not impressed by short-term moments that cover up another 'bleh' performance. This season is a total waste.

Remember we played Swansea who sacked their manager and are in relegation zone, and if it wasnt for a 19 year old, we`d have drawn or lost another game

There was probably less bum twitching for him in the first half, so I can see why he preferred it :p

This sums him up.

So basically the players are playing however they want. From now on every win will be credited to LvG and every loss will be blamed on the players, calling it :smirk:

Didn't that random poster say on another thread that his girlfriend's hairdresser is pals with some of the players WAGS, and that we're sticking with Van Gaal, and bringing in Pep in the summer?

Sounded legit to me.

Folks like me...riiiiight. Because i am not one of the sheep, clamoring for him to be sacked?

Sorry but comparing Van Gaal to Moyes is ridiculous. Under Moyes, every game was 50-50 or not even favorites
Under Van Gaal results may not have gone our way but I still think United should win every game

The time to sack him was after Norwich at home. A terrible run without a win, out the league cup, out of champions league, record numbers of home 0-0s, and topped with that horrible Norwich loss.

Now we're obviously sticking as we are, the pressure has eased a lot, and it'll take time for the next wave of gloom to build.

But we don't, this is the first win, and a very close one at that for ages, I have absolutely no confidence along with a vast percentage on here that we will win any game, it's probably worse under LVB because we know what we're going to get, under Moyes it was unpredictable so yeah 50/50, I can't stand either of them by the way because one ruined our club and the other one is trying to out do him!

Very large yawn
