why isn't he taking set pieces for our club? Ole better tell Rashford to let Luke take all left sided free kicks.

He does take for us. If memory serves me right he has taken a bulk of set piece for us last season.

Need to check stats to confirm though

What a turnaround by him. Just brilliant. Honestly Ole must also be credited for his improvement.

I want him to have a go at direct free kicks on goal. Said it numerous times last year, I reckon he could do it.

Mans is making statements. I thought end of the season he had dropped off a little from his early levels but right now showing the rest of Europe and the world he’s the best LB there is.

Tied beckham for most assists in a tournament or something now.

A little obviously for just trusting and believing in him... but this is Shaw. This is carrying on the trajectory he was going in before the leg break. After seeing that and all the stuff in between (weight, form, Mourinho, etc) it's great to see how he's playing now.

 ffs if he’s had any problems this season it’s been overconfidence and nonchalance this season, hasn’t looked nervous for a single minute. Just a class player these days, can’t believe how long he’s got left in his career to be banging Prut these performances

Yes it was important to show trust but a player doesn't automatically improve based on trust. Surely Ole must have done something more than just pep talks

so happy for him, he deserves this more than anything

This last 12months its great to say he has finally become the player we hoped he would when we signed him from Southampton, as lets be honest the vast majority of us have doubted him.

I never wanted us to sell him though many did, but did wonder if he would ever turn into the player he looked he could become or even keep his jersey fo rthe left back role...excellent season and like some pundits have metioned what with the injury and Mourinho treatment, great mental strength to turn things around

It makes such a difference having a fullback that is confident and decisive on the ball. His technique and balance is out of this world. Fantastic player.

Top class again tonight.

Really hope be keeps this form up and manages to stay injury free. Starting to really live up to the promise he showed early on in his career.

He’s so consistent now. Didn’t even look like he broke a sweat all game.

The poor fella taken one too many punches to the head in his boxing career.

Its tough to argue against his claim of being the best LB in the league and possibly the world.

A lot of fullbacks today are pretty average defenders or have atleast some glaring weakness. With Shaw, there aren't any major weaknesses. Defending is top class, can tackle, reads the game well, is intelligent, going forward, his runs are timed well, his overlapping runs are classy, knows when and to whom to cross the ball. Add to that, his passing range is great and is pretty press resistent

Best left back in the world.

We tend to be reluctant to say this kind of thing about our own, but he probably actually is at the moment. Dominates his side of the pitch in most matches

I actually thought he wasnt great in the first half, to his usual standards. A few underhit passes, where he was lax. But still fine.
Second half was another level..

I might be wrong here and he might still do it but one thing I think I've noticed with Shaw is..

Back when he was really struggling for form, he used to constantly tug on his jersey. Like he'd tug it down even though it was already on, he did it constantly. It always gave me the impression that in the midst of a game he was actually consciously thinking about his weight and about how be looked. That's obviously a massive and unfortunate hindrance, and tbf if that is / was the case who can blame him given the abuse he's gotten about his weight in the past.

Anyway, I don't think he does it anymore. I haven't noticed it anyway. It just occurred to me when I saw that he actually took his jersey off and throw it into the crowd tonight. I'm not sure he's ever taken his jersey off without underarmour on underneath either.

He could be good for double figure assists next year. He should be taking the corners on the right too. Wrong thread but Maguire is definitely going to start banging in a few set piece goals for us next year. Said he’d do it last year but I think it’ll happen next year. He was missing free headers all over the shop. He’s really hard to stop once the cross is good, I think he’s definitely a confidence player and this tournament is a far better kickstart than the drama of last summer

I really fancy our chances next year if Cavani can stay fit

Delighted for him. Sensational season and 2nd half performance today. Long may it continue.

He's become a top player. Really happy for him after the leg break and the form struggles that (understandably) followed.
