He was fantastic again last night and agree with a lot of other posters, arrival of Telles seems to have spurred Shaw on to up his game a little.

Considering the shower of shite playing in the LW spot at the minute, his standout performances are even more exceptional

Really good again - had a couple little wobbles defensively, and I thought he could have crossed/cutback to Cavani a bit quicker when he got played down the line, but another solid display.

He is so important to our build up play, he's genuinely a playmaker from LB.

Hes becoming part of our core of dependable players: Pogba, Shaw, Maguire, Fred. I hope we rest Bruno in one of the games I don´t take Ole´s words seriously he´s not tired. be it physically. Mentally even more so. Rashford too hot and cold but he roduce numbers at least this year. Martial will be Martial unfortunately..

But back to Shaw, he´s probably as fit as never, as always very solid defender but I like his first touch and interplay while not shy to go for a run, only if AWB would be also confident going forward.

I was thinking lately about this 'Decent but not good enough for where we want to be' opinions people express when it comes to our players.

Would you be happy with him in the starting 11 for years to come if someone told you that he will keep that level up till the end of his career? Like not get better or worse.

I would.
Yeah, I think so. He's great defensively and has been desperately unlucky not to pick up more assists.

Something tells me there's still even more to come though.

He's in the form of his life at the moment. All he could improve is his delivery on the longer crosses.

I actually thought he was pretty poor yesterday, considering we were camped in their half, he didn't really have the energy or desire to overlap or move the ball quickly and made it extremely difficult for Martial. I think comparing it to Liverpool performance, it was a big step down, where he was imperious. Probably just knackered though, but would have preferred him to be rested for Sunday.

Really good experienced reilable player.

Did you notice how many times he was nutmegged last night? had to be around 4-5 times, I'm sure he will get a lot of stick for that in the dressing room, lool.

If you are thinking about the same moments I am he was genuinely incredibly unlucky to get nutmegged twice in 5 minutes. Both just seemed like a freak chance. Jenas was trying to make it sound like Fulham were getting lots of joy down that flank but I think it was pretty much those two moments only and they were very unfortunate for Shaw.

Always astounds me how long it takes some football fans to come to terms with what is going on around them. Seems many are just figuring out what I've been seeing for about two years now.

Surprising to see many trying to pretend like he hasn't been good since 2019 or so. The only major improvement I'm seeing is a better delivery at set-pieces and more crosses, which was always the major drawback.

While those were in my mind - the one where loftus cheek got in between Shaw/Maguire and had a shot on target was probably the worst of them

He didn't really track him properly in that situation, but it was good movement by RBL. It was just a funny 5 minutes, but he was excellent apart from that.

Jenas is a bellend btw, can't stand his commentary! saying United had a poor attitude even though we were absolutely dominating them

Ah yes, I did forget that one, probably should have done better. Loftus Cheek is a really weird player though, one moment he can look like Pogba marauding through the midfield with pace and power and then other times he's so wasteful and his end ball is just lacking.

Couldn't agree more, I used to quite like him but once you hear a bit more, he's as clueless as the rest.

Yeah he is frustrating isn't he, I remember when he starred for England against Germany and absolutely tore them apart, then we never saw him again for like 2 years

Poor old Fred was trying his best to track him but getting bounced all over the place.

Jenas has a bias issue it seems, he loves Tottenham and hates United.

I can't think of a fullback who combined this level of technical ability, dynamism, and defensive nous. Ashley Cole comes to mind, but although I remember he was very fast and an exceptional defender, I don't think he had the incredible strength Shaw possesses. Shaw can take several opponents out of a phase of play with a little feint and then explosive run towards the box. You love to see it.

Fred had a couple of moments yesterday where I genuinely laughed. One was the one you were referring to with Loftus Cheek where he looked like a child against a giant . The other one where he was in the corner at the end, scrapping for his life and getting thrown around like a rag doll . He's nothing if not persistent!

Welldone to you and your faith in the players ability has been vindicated.

He's in such good form that I hope we select him for our National Team so he can can challenge for a spot at LB.

You know what is crazy how he again never got freekick for that battle is crazy Tete shoves him off the ball two hands on him and pushes him off. Fred back up after them again and then Tete takes him out with a challenge. Think it was late in the game. Things like this are why I love Fred. Absolutely no quit him doesn’t know when he’s out matched either.

Yeh no idea how it wasn’t a foul, it really made me chuckle though for some reason.

I just thought about that he would be someone who Pep would like.

Shaw can overlap due to his speed and new found crossing ability. He can also underlap and be still effective inside the pitch due to his good technical ability.

His issue always has been injuries and lack of concentration at times. As a footballer, he is top.

Man Utd 3:2 Liverpool
Our chunky boye butt bumping his way into the title of the best LB in the league.

Best LB in England at the moment.

He's absolutely world class right now. Many of our attacks are coming through him, crucial to our offensive play in a manner I never actually imagined it'll happen one day!

Awesome for about an hour and then seemed to drift out the game. It was made difficult for him because our game plan seemed to be to allow their FBs to push on and our wingers not to go with them so often doubled up, having a great season.

Been nothing short of outstanding these last couple of games and long may it continue. Super happy for the lad.

Loving this. Especially after so many, including myself, had given up hope of him ever achieving his potential here. I kept thinking he's going to have to leave to somewhere like Everton or West Ham to rebuild his career. Love that he's managed to do it here rather than another club.

Well done Luke!

Knuckled down, got fit, got confidence back and look what happens. Now we're seeing the left back we paid that money for and had belief in to offer a new one a few years ago when all hope was lost

In the form of his career. He's fit, he's in shape and he has a manager who believes in him. We're seeing why he had so much potential. Well done, Luke!

I think he's our best leftback and is a physical force of nature when he gets going on the wing - but I honestly feel his attacking game was overshadowed somewhat by Salah getting behind him too many times today.

The first goal was a mix of him and Lindelof switching off. The second goal wasn't really his fault, but the chance after that when Salah again went 1 on 1 with Henderson - could have cost us. Still wouldn't swap him for any other left back in the league though

Best LB in the world. Would not have anyone over him at this form

2 games in a row against Liverpool where hes the best fullback on the pitch.

Haters stfu, you're the fat ones

Like I said I'm the match day thread he must be due an injury because he's so good at the moment

Best form since the leg break

Kind of a strange match. Overall he was brilliant, particularly in the first half where he was absolutely dominant to an almost embarrassing extent. But he perhaps could have done better on both of their goals. At first I thought he could also have done better for two of Salah's other half-chances in the second half, but watching the replays I see Liverpool had overloaded that side and were 3v2 and 3v1 for both of them.

Said it after the last game, but it needs saying again, he is easily the best LB in the league.

Saw Roberto Carlos trending because of Shaw too

Except for the goal, his first half was very good. His second half was not as good.

best form since being at the club. Love the way he carries the ball and dribbles in field sometimes.

amazes me that he wasn’t allowed the freedom/encouraged to do this under previous management.
