That is the problem. I think he is a really good full back, but injuries are an issue.
It will be a huge mistake not to buy a left back this period to compete with Shaw. He is injury prone and that disrupts the rythm of the team.

I don’t get this guy. He seems to be in better shape when he’s not actually playing games.

I’ve had enough of the manager harbouring nothing players with a bad attitude. If Ole can’t rid the squad of these bad apples then he should go. Ole out.

Whats Shaw done now?

He'l be fit and firing, which is great. Williams did well to step in when required last year but it's clear he isn't good enough for now at least. I was particularly impressed with Shaw's attacking play after the restart last year, his underlapping runs into the penalty box were dangerous and Rashford noticeably struggled after Shaw got injured.

Did he play at centre back today? If so, you have to wonder if the strong links with a left back are actually true.
That s my impression too. Apparently our defence consisted of Dalot Lindelof Shaw and Williams.

Yeah. With Dalot looking set to leave, it would allow us to play buy a specialist left back, move Williams to right back, where he c
Would rotate with AWB and use Shaw as a left back and left sided centre back.

Having said that, we need to find out how he did first.

I feel like I have this argument with people on here every season.
Grinds my gears. You can be carrying high body fat and still be in the best shape of your life. You can be ripped in your abdominal section and face and be huffing and puffing after 45 mins of football.

Also people carry fat different areas. You can have low body fat levels over all and still have a man boobs and a flat tyre. Meanwhile veins are popping from your biceps and forehead

Did we play today already? I honestly have no idea what's going on in this forum. When is the frickin match?

Exactly. I've just got to a stage where I don't even say anything anymore.

He was good against Villa in the friendly.

If he'd been fit at the end of last season, we'd have won the Europa League.

People on here are saying that Sancho would improve AWB's attacking input but I think he'd benefit Shaw far more on the opposite flank. Last season our opponents could easily neglect our right hand side and instead focus on stopping Shaw/Rashy. Those two would get so much more room on the left if defences are preoccupied with Sancho on the other side.

Our possession game looks so much better with him in the team.

Looked better going forward than he has for a while yesterday, but he still ball-watched to often in key moments which I don't think the coaches are gonna be able to eradicate from his game now, in fact they've probably given up trying, and we still need an upgrade. A useful squaddie at LB/LCB perhaps but you'd expect more from a guy on his wages with his experience.

Looked very good, arguably our MotM alongside Donny. I really like his passing, I wish that he would improve his crossing skills though.

Didn't get a chance to see the game yesterday but I'm delighted to hear Shaw did well. He's so important to us.

Finally watched the game, he was very good both defending and attacking. As usual he was very good in the build up play.

All well and good, but how long will he last until he is out for another couple of weeks/months. Williams is a massive downgrade. At the end of the day, we need another good LB to rotate with him and give him some breaks, otherwise he won't last

He was very good, not just in the build up but all round he was very good. I hope he takes this form into the season and gives us that extra attacking threat from fullback which I believe he's capable of.

He was below average which makes him better than almost every other performance today.

He's usually a pretty slow starter so I'm sure he'll pick up form soon.

I see standards have dropped massively.

He wasn't good at all, doesn't keep with the defensive line to the lead up to the 1st goal, then moves in line and his man then jolts past him and he still doesn't pick him up for the goal. Offered nothing in attack, did any of his 'crosses' even make it to our men in the box?

None of our defends were even remotely near the standard required, I also failed to see them defend as a collective unit once.
