I'm almost starting to believe he's faking it. He seem to be going down with life threatening injuries each and every match. I hope I'm wrong on this one, but hearing José state he's unhappy with the attitude of some players makes you wonder.

I do not believe for one second that Luke Shaw is faking an injury. It's Mourinho being Mourinho.

I hate this culture of letting the players get a free ride and blaming the manager for everything.

On a more serious note, why is Mourinho doing this? If he was wrong then that would ruin his relationship with all his players so he must have seen something, with Shaw and Jones in particular imo.

No one is saying he is faking injuries. Mourinho probably thinks half the injuries the players like jones smalling and shaw suffer are mental rather than fully physical. Similar to what klopp accused sturridge of.

Not manning up and trying to run it off before making a decision or playing with a bit of pain is different to faking an injury.

Must admit, Jose is an absolute fool with some of his comments about injuries unless he knows something we don't. Whilst I have no idea about any other the players mentioned mentality in being injured, I'd argue sometimes Jones has created his own problems in either coming back too soon or equally making tackles that would leave him open to be injuries. Must admit, if it was me, I'd never play for him again if he questioned my commitment to the team in this way. It kind of feels like he's setting them up for our failings....
Maybe Jose's man management doesn't quite work anymore with today's perhaps more mentally fragile fotballers in the say way it used to, and he's struggling to adapt? It seems to have become more of an issue as his career's progressed, beginning with his stint in Madrid. He's always been more comfortable with playing experienced players over youth, and now perhaps more than ever footballers stay 'young' and soft mentally well into their 20's.

I don't believe he's faking injuries, but he's gotta man up. He can't have 5 weeks recovery every time he strains a muscle. It's a contact sport. You're gonna get a few knocks every time you go out there.
If the team can't rely on him to be on the pitch for more than 10 minutes when we are already seriously depleted in manpower, then he's gotta go.

At this stage buying Shaw for any serious money would be a huge risk - he is a player who (admittedly for a variety of reasons, one of them very unfortunate) made no real impact for 3 whole seasons and has been criticised by three very different managers at club and country level. If United decide to let go, he's probably bound for a Stoke-type club or maybe even a return to the south coast.
And half the forum have been behaving despicably towards various members of the squad with little to no justification at all. The man detested, as you describe it, is, however, widely known to have behaved like a bellend throughout his managerial career.
Shaw hobbled off the field injured yesterday and some of the reaction to that has been nothing short of pathetic. I personally hope he recovers quickly, because he's the best we've got.
Compared to when? The glory days of 2006, when the game was littered with hard men whose pride wouldn't accept them finishing a match without a busted nose, detached eye socket and two broken legs.
I know young players have more money than ever, but I think it's a stretch to think there's been that much of a mentality shift in such a short space of time. Then, as now, there were plenty of players who responded to a kick up the arse, just as there are plenty of players that wilt after being on the wrong end of an unpleasant gaze. What Mourinho is doing is trying to fill the squad with more of the former, and that means rooting out those he feels he can't rely on when the going gets tough.
Calling them a bunch of fannies who need to man up is despicable now? It's that precious attitude that's exactly the problem with them.
Actually I think todays footballers are much more tolerant. Can you imagine the reaction of Bruce, Pallister, Cantona etc if they were publically questioned in this way.
I think too many people here are cutting him far too much slack. This guy hasn't produced enough over the three seasons he has been here for the outlay the club has made. We are beginning to overrate Shaw to an extent that an criticism Jose or anyone else makes about him is met with scorn and disbelief. If Shaw is to leave at the end of the season I won't be too disappointed, we have practically played the last 3 seasons without him being a main stay in the squad (yes, I know last season was due to that horrific injury).

Are they refusing to play? Are they pretending to be injured? Are they actively walking off the field after ten minutes because they don't want to be here? I can't even remember these questions being asked of our players, yet Mourinho starts taking a paddy and suddenly all of his online acolytes suddenly hang off every word he says. I said it the other day and it remains true; he could tell some of you lot to throw your granny off a cliff and you'd suddenly start to doubt why you ever cared for her.
Big Sam, Hodgson, Van Gaal, Moyes and Ferguson have never indicated attitude problems with regard to these players (at least Smalling and Jones) yet you feel free to call them "fannies" with so little evidence. I find it all a little bit strange.
We need a new left back. Enough of relying on crocks like shaw, jones and smalling.
It wont really take serious money to buy him now. His wages would be the critical thing, dunno how much he's on.

I don't really know what to make of Shaw. However I would give him one more chance. It's Smalling and Jones who've been eternal crocks that need shipping first.

They can't stay fit; ergo, they don't contribute enough.
I would maybe give Shaw one more season to prove his fitness but Jones has had too many chances already and Smalling is, I think, never going to realise the potential we thought he had.
I've met a good few players and one thing I hear a lot is it's a job. If I had a manager that suggested I'd intentionally not made myself available whilst my colleagues are dying on their feet, that would be the end of my working relationship with him.
I haven't seen many on the forum behaving despicable towards the players.
The majority of these players have over the last few seasons done nothing of note, (we won the FA cup and that was great) so if Mourinho can get the house in order and us competing again I'm ok with that.
I agree, smalling, Jones and Rooney need to be shipped out first. Shaw can have one last season to prove himself. We need competition for the LB position next season as well.... Which is something I'm sure Jose will address.
And remember Evra didn't get back because of a club director opposed it, probably to protect the investment on Shaw.
They are a very frustrating duo. But at least they have managed a run of games without injury in their time here. I'm not even sure Shaw has managed 10 games in a row or so has he?
But of course those 3 would never be missing for reasons that required questioning!
