My favourite part is:

The Mail on Sunday said:
Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Alex Buttner, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia and Anders Lindegaard are due to leave in the summer...

Hopefully someone remembers to turn-off the lights on their way out.

It's a shame for me as ability wise, there aren't many above him in the world, I've seen him hit a dropping volley, pick a pass, he can cross, shoot from distance, you name it... It's just all too inconsistent.

I personally don't see much point in getting rid of him, how much would you get for him and what would you do with the money? I'd be happy to see him stay and carry on trying to cement some form..

Me too as it goes. It hasnt been that long since he looked the part either. Until he got sent off in the Madrid tie he was looking great, for example. Given he is safely under contract he is hardly one of the players I would classify as deadwood. In need of a little TLC for sure but worth keeping.

He signed a 5 year deal at the beginning of the season. Surely this means something...?

He won't leave to Fulham and I don't think he'll be sold in this transfer window.

He probably has the second half of the season to find form, but I'm still unsure over his situation - a few papers stating that he will be sold... We're in a strong position to make money for him, but we should look to keep him. It's unreal how we can make him sign a new contract and not give him game time that coincides with very good/great form.

I just watched the Madrid match and he really was very good up until the sending off - it's the first time in a while that I've seen us with a real identity and clear system to our play, although that has a lot to do with the opposition. Nani and Welbeck constantly giving Madrid problems with their pace - just a pity about the ending, I think if we won that match then he would be in a different position within the squad this season.

What's the point in keeping him? It's abundantly clear the only way you have a chance of getting a consistant Nani is by as good as guaranteeing him a spot in the XI no matter what.

For me it's shit or bust with Nani. Either have him as one of the first names on the team sheet or move him on.

If Nani goes and Valencia stays then im lost for words. Dont get me wrong Nani has been shite for a long time, but Valencia hasnt been any better.

Yup. It'd also be a bit of a sign as to what direction the club is heading, when we value the shit Valencia offers more then what Nani used to do and can potentially do again.

Why is Nani afforded the luxury of "potentially" getting back to his best whilst Valencia isn't? Valencia was brilliant in 11/12.

Because Valencia has been first choice, playing almost every game since that time and has been awful. Even back then, Nani was always way more talented and between the start of 2010 and start of 2012, he was better then Valencia. Valencia was good then too, and was brilliant in the second half of 2012/13 but even at his best, he still only had the one move where he goes outside the defender then smashes it in. Nani was always better at his best, and with Nani, he needs the type of assurances that Valencia seems to have for whatever reason. He's shown that whenever he gets a run of games, that he can start performing well. He's not a squad player, because he'll always be frustrating and a bit shit like that. Give him games, give him time to get some form (its not like anybody has made the spot their own) and I have no doubt that he'd perform again. Fergie seemed to think he was his best winger too, since he picked him in the most important game last season. It was just unlucky that he had so many injuries these last 2 years.

To be honest I don't know why I asked because I knew the answer I'd get back would be that Valencia plays all the time and Nani doesn't get the chance.

There's some truth to that IMO but not as much as the Nani fans are keen to point out. Fact is, for one reason or another, Nani has been pretty shit for a while now and I doubt we'll ever see the Nani that won our player of the year.

I doubt we will too, but I'd love to see Nani get even half the amount of chances that Valencia has had to get back to his form. It's always been a case of one or the other pretty much, and I think the reason he didn't play much last season was because he had a lot of injuries that didn't let him get a run of games, which led to him being pretty shit when he played. You can't really completely rule out that he'll never get back to being a good player though, because he hasn't been given the chance, but considering it's been a year and a half for Valencia, I think most have accepted he's just not United standard anymore.

Nani offers so much more, he is currently being missed in the team. He has loads of creativity and we should make every effort to get him fit and into the team.

Nani has started just 22 games in the last 18 months in all competitions. Just 12 league games. Valencia's already started more league games and as many games in all competitions in this half-season than Nani in the last 18 months. Valencia has been afforded that luxury while Nani hasn't.

I've always been a Nani fan and would like him to regain his form and nail down a first team place once and for all. He is one of our relatively few genuine goal threats - think about that for a second, when we see the likes of Valencia, Young, Kagawa, Januzaj (he is quality but not a goal threat yet IMO) and - aside from the past few weeks - Welbeck.

When we lined up against City and got smashed this season, out of our front four the only player you could really see creating anything was Rooney. So City just marked him out of the game and the other three were useless.

I agree with the notion that Nani needs a run of games and is generally useless as a squad player. There are some players who can come on 60 minutes into a game having not played for weeks, and immediately look like they have never been away - Nani is not one of those. He is like Rooney in that he needs a consistent run of games in order to perform, if we cannot or will not offer him that, then there is no point keeping him.

From Sky Sports transfer centre:

"Reports in Portugal suggest that negotiations are ongoing between Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon regarding a loan agreement for Nani. It is understood that United are willing to sanction a deal if they are offered first refusal on Sporting's in-demand midfielder William Carvalho at the end of the season."

If Moyes sells Nani and keeps Valencia (and keeps playing him every fecking week) then I have absolutely no faith in his ability to develop the squad.

If true, and Moyes lets Nani go on loan whilst keeping Valencia, shittest winger in the world, then I have no faith in him anymore

And Valencia's have usually been consistent runs in the side to build sharpness etc. Nani's have been the odd game/run of games here and there, largely due to injuries, making it even harder for him to get form. He could have done more but he's also had a very rough time of it in turns of getting a chance and staying fit to take it these last 18 months or so. It'll be pretty sad if come the summer we've still got Valencia/Young and he's the one thats gone.

Instead of straight agreeing a deal to bag the kid in the summer...sounds to dumb to be a united type move..unless Woodward and Moyes are at it again...

He probably thinks that's what the fans want, like keeping a struggling RvP on so that he can properly injure himself because he doesn't want to upset the fans.

loaning Nani out while we play Young & Valencia here and keep Zaha on the bench!

:lol::lol::lol:

if i didn't laugh i would have to cry

If Moyes really did give up on Nani because of that spastic booing then he simply isnt cut out for the job.

He gave him a new contract and then started playing him every week, and then the Stoke match happened and he's barely been off the bench since. Might be a coincidence, but it looks bad.
