Luciano Vietto

Another great deal for Atletico, building a great squad with very talented players.

They're doing some quality business. Greizmann and Vietto over 2 summers.

Good stuff. Hope they keep building and remain a major force in la liga.

I know he's supposed to have a relationship with simeone but this is one of those cases where you just know that clubs will be lining up to pay twice the fee and double his wages in 2yrs time.

Best case scenario worked out for the player, the NT and fans IMHO. Argentina needs an infusion into the attack and Vietto could be that and Simeone will ensure the Bilardo aspect to his game matures too.

Tbf I don't see much wrong with this. Atletico don't have that many forward and he will get enough game time whereas with us we play almost anyone as a striker and just have so many attackers he would be fighting with. There's a very good chance he will develop better there than with us or another club where he would only be 3rd choice. And he is just too good to play 2nd fiddle to our strikers.

If we sell RVP and Chicha, we need a striker. Considering we're going to play 1 up top, its not going to be a big name. A Vietto would be perfect.

But will he get playing time ahead of Rooney? It might make sense from our point of view, but not from Vietto's. And that's even without considering LvG has also used Fellaini upfront.

Vietto and Jackson Martinez + Griezmann? That's a quality attack.

He'd rotate. His versatility means he'd get plenty of games. Much like at Atletico. He's not going to walk into that starting 11 either. But yes, broadly, a move to them rather than us makes more sense for him.

Fellaini will become a squad player this season, shouldnt matter either ways.

Not sure Griezemann is "good business" for £25m but yeah they're obtaining some fantastic players.

I've said it time and time again in La Liga thread - this boy is class already and will become a monster. He's incredibly smart, lethal in front of goal, hard-working and versatile.

Vietto, Martinez, Griezemann and Arda Turan is a frightening attack.

Amazed they are getting a free run at him.

Atletico is everything Liverpool should be in the transfer market. Focused, decisive and a keen eye for value in the market.

He used to play for Simeone before I believe, think he gave him his debut. Also Liverpool are not in the same league as Athletico, they are more in line with an Arsenal

Reportedly Barca got a deal done with Atletico for Vietto. So if this deal goes through, we are going to have another player of 22yrs. A nice investment for future and much needed backup for ST.

Strange move really, you wouldn't think Atletico would let a player with his potential ability move to a rival unless they were convinced he's not what was hoped and isn't going to develop into the player they thought he would... in which case you would think a club with Barca's stature would be smart enough to realise that and look elsewhere?

Didnt Barca do this before? Buy a bunch of rated youngester for backup roles and eventually not have a space for them.

Or more likely the club recognises Atletico are not Barça, in terms of playing style polar opposites

Not sure if Vietto is the ideal option as I believe a scoring winger like Nolito fit the team's needs better. As a talent, like the Argentine very much but will eat Munir's already paltry minutes
