Doesn't surprise me at all.

He's been woeful for Bayern really, he's only gotten 31 starts at Bayern in the last two seasons and a bit and he's only scored 14.

It's not a bad scoring record but he's never really shown himself to be as good as the hype for Bayern.

A misfiring striker, surely perfect for Spurs?

Pretty good player. His destination if Bayern allow him to leave will depend on where he can get a better chance to be a starter. Dont think Spurs want a starter, i think they are looking more a cover for Bent and Pav.

How long will it take to see Marca linking him to Madrid?

he has been on the bench for byern for the last season or so hasnt he...

probably wont end up there but i imagine he will be linked to city...

not sure where he will end up but if hes not happy at byern being on the bench i guess he will be looking for somewhere he is going to start most games

Scoring record means feck all in that case. Podolski is a quality player who never ever got a decent run of games at Bayern. Klose has been in poor form over 1 1/2 years now but either Hitzfeld and Klinsmann (who has no clue of running a club as manager) have always preferred him over Podolski. I seriously hope City don't get him (they actually bid around £16m for him this summer, but Bayern refused to sell), I could see him fulfilling his full potential in the Premiership.
Beside that Podolski would be the perfect player for us. A gifted left-footed player who can play either upfront or as left-forward (similar to Ronaldo), young and with huge potential. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I do agree that he hasn't been given a decent run of games, but that's been the case under 3 different managers - Magath, Klinsmann and Hitzfield, all of who are pretty well respected. So clearly it's not all their fault, he must not be performing too well in training or taking his chances well enough. Klinsmann didn't hesitate to play Podolski when he was manager of Germany, so clearly he rates him as a player. Maybe he just just fir Bayern's style.

I very much doubt that Bayern rejected a £16m bid from Man City. Any sort of confirmation of that?

They rejected two bids, one in January 2008 and one at the end of the last transfer window. Rummenigge confirmed it just last month if I remember correctly. It was a big story in one of Germany's major sport journals, Sportbild (not the most reliable source tbh, but Rummenigge was quoted), and the Kicker had informations about the bid in the last winter transfer window as well.

See here and here, it's in German though. City apparently bid 20 million Euros.

My money is on real vs liverpool for his signature. Marca talking a lot of crap and Podolski rejecting loads of money from city.

Fair enough, I heard nothing about it before then. I just assumed it was newspaper bollocks as always.

He looked quite good playing wide in the Euros. He'd be more hit than miss with United vice that Nani.

Wonder if he fancies La Liga or the Premiership.

Another German mug that surfaces once in every two years in the qualifying rounds of the international tournaments, the more shitter the opposition the more better he looks. If Bayern disown a footballer more particularly a German he should be really special. Barcodes should latch him up, clearly the level he belongs.

Seconded, i dont blame him for failing with Bayern i blame Bayern as he is clearly talented.

He's a good player and will not be short of offers. He might think he can make more money in the PL though.

I can see him landing in the PL with City the most likely destination. Possible loan move in January and a big transfer in the summer?

Unless Madrid go for him given how desperate they are for a striker.

Not that this is relevent but someone (a German) told me he was mind bogglingly stupid. Can anyone confirm this and give examples?

It's true.

If the footballer makes more money in a week than them in a year, have a fleet of exotic cars to choose from, shag 100s of stunning hot babes a year, have a kitchen bigger than their house then he's stupid.

You my friend are uninformed. He was out injured for a large part of last season which allowed Toni to form a great partnership with Klose. He got bit part involvement and usually not as his preferred striker position but playing off the flank. He was coming off injury but getting very few games, let's see how many of our players can hit full form that way... He's a brilliant player with vision, passing, shooting, a complete striker in my opinion. I'd love to see him at United and think he'd thrive unlike a certain Michael Jackson impersonator turned footballer.

City are a good bet, Hughes would like the kind of player he is.

A complete striker could lead the line. Podolski does not. And his injury didnt "allow" Toni and Klose to form a great partnership. That was the idea regardless of Podolski. He was there to cover and compete with the two established players.

He's a good, direct player as shown for the German national side and clearly needs a change of club and fortune.

All bar the bolded parts is correct. He is a decent talent and certainly at least a level above the Magpies BUT he just doesn't strike me as a top notch player he is sometimes made out to be. A move to level below Bayern might do him good especially as he may get the chance to play regularly and showcase his talents. He is still young and has time on his side. Hamburg, Stuttgart, Spurs could help his career.

Pretty much on the money, no top European club is going to buy him - Spurs beckons.

Could not have described him better....

No great shakes...

I think he's a decent little player, cracking shot on his left foot. Wouldn't mind him on the left for us give us some more threat from both wings as he's more consistent than Nani. Then again i think we're crying out for a natural left footed winger. I shall name it the Giggs hangover.

He's slow as arseholes, he's no long term solution for left wing. He's a decent striker though, but maybe not good enough for us.

He isnt a winger though ? hes a striker whos left footed

He's slow as arseholes.
Except that he is not.

Never really been convinced by him - but if he comes cheap, he's worth a try, I guess.
Unfortunately Bayern never sell cheap. There are a lot of clubs currently rumoured to bid in the next transfer window - Cologne (the club he supports), Stuttgart, City, Spurs and even Everton and Juventus. I doubt the transfer fee will be any less than 15 million Euros.

Löw turned him into a winger for the national team in the Euro, and he played a great tournament. Then he was put back to striker and scored twice against Liechtenstein, but that was it.

He obviously plays better at wing and should get to play there more.

And whoever said Poldi is slow....that couldn't be further from the truth, sorry.

he should move to club where he can play without too much pressure meaning a club like Everton,Spurs,City...prove himself then move to a big club where a talent like his should be...
