Lucas Moura - (Caf decides he’s naff again) Spurs bound?

But Lucas Moura has more natural talent and he hasn't exactly failed yet. His opportunities at PSG have been limited. He will get better at Spurs if th deal goes through. He's got pace and trickery which is what's needed in the PL for a winger.

He does have more natural talent but he has failed at PSG otherwise they wouldn't be selling him to a club like Spurs for much less than they bought him for 5 years ago.

He's had plenty of opportunities (more than 150 appearances!), he's just not been good enough for them. Lower standard at Spurs though.

When Real sold Robben and Sneijder and bought CR7, Kaka and Benzema, that didn't make Robben and Sneijder bad players, now did they? Both went on to win the CL and treble with their respective teams.

Same way Moura has been performing well enough to post decent stats. He's no Neymar and Mbappe but he's not Walcott for sure that people have been comparing him to on the CAF. This guy has what it takes to be a better player and I really hope he shows it wherever he goes next.

I didn't say he was a bad player, just not good enough for PSG and has not fulfilled his early hype.

I'll bet you any amount you like that Lucas won't win a CL or treble at his next club!

Lol. I'm not saying he'll win the CL or treble but I find it absurd when people call him the Brazlian Walcott. The guy has a lot more talent than Walcott who still hasn't figured out whether he wants to be a striker or a winger.

Both very fast, hugely hyped & broke into their national sides as teenagers then fizzled out to the point of not starting for their clubs. Obviously Lucas Moura has more time but I do see a similarity in their career paths.
The the similarity then is that both are/were very fast. However, their playing style is quite different. Moura likes to dribble and take on his man. Walcott was never able to dribble past anyone, bar that assist against pool; he was never good at that nor running with the ball. If anything, Moura is more similar to Lennon.

Not true. 16 trophies in his 5 years at the club while playing an important role every season. People are forgetting just last season he was keeping Di Maria out of the squad. People say Lucas flopped because unless he does what Neymar is doing now people would not rate him. So a lot of people call him a failure even though he has played well every season and steadily improved every year. Of course he hasn't reached the heights people expected him to when he was a teenager but comparing him to the likes of Walcott makes no sense because Walcott couldn't hold down a first team spot over the likes of Ramsey and Chamberlain whereas Moura was actually starting over the likes of Pastore and Di Maria. Only out of the squad now because they went ahead and signed two of the best wingers in the world, while Pastore, Di Maria and Draxler are more suited to the squad because all of them can also play in the midfield if needed.

Difference is Robben and Sneijder featured heavily in Madrid shirt before they got sold. They were also a regular for the national teams. Lucas was far from being starter prior to Neymar and MBappe arrival.

Lucas stats last season ain't all that as like half of them were in the domestic cups against lesser teams. He didn't feature as main starter for PSG.

Really? Are you sure you were watching PSG and not Paris FC?

We don't need him now. Let Spurs have him, that's probably more his level.

Possibly. Who knows?

Edit: Looks like Arsenal is rumored to be in for him at latest gossip on twitter

I love how Mou used Lucas as a smokescreen for Sanchez. Don't think we were ever serious. Let North London fight over him!

Think its a good signing for them, wouldn't have minded him here.

25m gbp is dirt-cheap in this market.

Not sure he will be a hit there though (Too much competition)

I agree it appears to be a great deal - I think he will get plenty of first team action as we are really lacking pace in the attacking third.

If you're playing Champions League football and competing on all levels, then I guess theres a reasonable amount of games for him to develop in.

He's currently on Lamela / Sissoko level if you ask me, but has way more potential. Needs continuity and games. Fits your playing style, could be a scoop.

It could be a good signing for Spurs, it's a risk but could pay off. So many questions over Moura, it was a strange decision to move to PSG years ago. He clearly needs a kick start to his career, not sure how he will adapt to England. So glad we got Sanchez, it's so reassuring to know what you are getting on the transfer market sometimes.

Yah, it's a good signing for a decent price. Don't think he'll be an immediate hit given his lack of playing time this year he'll be short of match sharpness. He'll give Spurs a bit more threat on the wings which is what they need.

Gutted we missed out on him tbh. Glad that we got our number 7 but Sanchez and Lucas would be the perfect January window for me. We still need an out-and-out winger on the right imo as Mata and Lingard like to drift inside and Lucas was probably the best traditional RW option out there. 25m in this inflated market is absolute bargain for a player like him too and we will seriously regret that if he adapts well to the league and shows his real quality.

Good signing for them.

Apparently we were never interested in him. Just our name being thrown in the contest as usual while we were targeting Sanchez.

I think he’s a good signing for that price, worth a risk. They’re getting a talented player in his prime who’s been a decent part of a pretty successful side.

He’s not top tier and it’s obvious that the likes of Neymar and Mbappe are better than him and for a club like PSG with a bottomless pit of money they can afford better, but he’s far from a ‘Brazilian Walcott’. He’s got his flaws, but he actually has some end product and can beat a player which is more than Walcott’s ever had.

When we were linked to this guy before the Sanchez links I was keen, and I reckon he'll turn out to be pretty good for Spurs, good for them, and glad we play them before he signs.

I'm still to be convinced but I really hope I'm wrong.

I actually think he's a better fit for your style of play than ours. He'll like being in a team that dominates the ball and has a world class CF to feed. Our attacking play is at times very erratic while you have a clear gameplan most matches. He's got that technical ability that Pochettino will like and probably improve as well. It's a very good signing for the price.

Quite gutted to be fair wanted someone who could actually play on the right who is actually comfortable there and prefers that position. Good price and well worth the risk. I bet Levy will turn a profit on him if he doesn’t succeed so a win/win for them.

Even though I wanted Lucas at United. I slightly prefer a left footed right winger.

Mahrez could be an interesting and realistic option.

Good signing for spurs. He's a good dribbler, nice and quick - depends if he can deliver with assists and goals. He's got all the right skills.

Yes.

I've no idea whether it'll work out for him at Spurs or not, but if it doesn't then we should be able to sell him for at least as much as we're paying for him.

It's actually very rare for Spurs to sign someone in January and have them arrive in the same month (as distinct from being loaned back until the summer, like Alli). I can't remember the last time it happened.

Agreed. The pace should gel well with Eriksen's creativity.

Good for him and Spurs. Would've been even better for PSG if the club got €10m more but that's still decent money for a player who became surplus to requirements.
