Television Love Island 2019

Have to agree here. He looked like he wanted to make her feel like shit. Could have handled this all a lot better. Hate Anna though.. ew.

He was trying to provoke her so he could justify his decision to everyone.

Curtis  what a complete wanker!

Amber has the worst personality ever. She also has no concept of it either and just assumes that looks are everything hence the ‘i can tell by looking at her I’m better in every single way’. She’s a genuinely horrible person.

That was seriously so shitty

Michael being a total prick there. Amber might be hard work but she’s handled it well enough and there he is “why you raising your voice?” when she’s pretty calm talking to him.

Yep exactly this.
Really disappointed in Michael’s behaviour

These are all horrible people.

I can tell I’m not gonna like that Ovie already, he was itching to put his oar in there

Feel really bad for Amy, as much as she's been a bitch in there this whole thing is mega snide.

Yeah she seems like someone who should never have been on the show in the first place honestly. The whole thing is set up for couples to fail, thrown into relationships they’d probably never be in on the outside, getting in way too deep too quick and every little concern you tell someone in there gets back to them. Great tv but must be hell for them

They’d probably have been on a couple of dates in real life and sacked it off there

I love how Curtis keeps twisting the knife - “I told her I fancied her. I told her I’d recouple with her. She said...no. I told her I’d keep pursuing her...eh...then I realized that was wrong.”

 He’s seriously messed up.

Yea exactly, it's all dialed up to 12 and absolutely crazy. It must be genuinely shit to go through some of the stuff they're thrown into.

Are they told by producers to go off into corners of the Garden and have conversations? I’m really interesting in the behind the scenes of it all. Has any former contestants exposed anything?

The conversations just seem so awkward. First time watching this series.

I mean, you wouldnt want to talk infront of everyone would ya?

I tell you what though, seasons 2 and 3, some of the best bits of the show was everyone sitting around having a cig. Think season 2 was especially good for it. Then they took it away as it was impressionable to younger viewers (WHO SHOULDNT EVEN BE WATCHING THE SHOW!)

Why did none of them call out Anna to her face for doing the exact same thing to Jordan? I've seen comments on Facebook by people trying to justify her behaviour by saying they were only together a couple of days so it's fine. And now she wants him back hope they both dump her

Curtis is proving to be the biggest snake of all what a creep hope again he is dumped by both, Amy was hilarious the first time he spoke to her think he was expecting tears and hysterics and he got one word sarcastic answers. Then the thing that is apparently missing for him is trust?! Bit hard for her to trust you now if she didnt trust you before!!!! I didn't like them when coupled but gone right off him now, I was also fooled into thinking he was perfect!

Michael is such a prick

Anna is distilled bitch

Amber took it well. She's clearly abrasive, but seems like it's to hide insecurities. Feel bad for her. She is banging.

Took it well? Aye, if she was 16 years old maybe. She started giving personal insults to Michael's new girl, then starts going for reassurance from the other girls. It was almost bully type behavior of the new girl.

Honestly after everything that had happened with past contestants I feel a bit uncomfortable watching some of it these days. I don't think some of these people are mentally strong enough for becoming semi famous or have the emotional maturity to deal with the pitfalls.

She called Joanna a 'dead ting', she's a childish idiot. An unreal childish idiot mind ya.

If Joanna is a dead ting then Amber is a fate worse than death ting. Joanna > Amber.

Well she's what? 20? That's nothing really. I don't think she's as much of a c*nt as everyone else seems to, she's just young and outspoken. I know loads of girls who acted like that at 20 and they're all pretty sound now. Michael is the 28 year old who bangs on about how he's mature and she's immature yet it came across the complete opposite last night. He acted like a bellend to her, didn't even say sorry and just went on the defensive straight away. But on the other hand he got with the 2 hottest women in there so g'wan son.

Amy is 25 or 26 though and she's definitely crazy to the point where she'd have punctured condoms to get Curtis stuck with her. No way should she be in there.

Tommy and that blonde one will walk this now I'd say.

One throwaway insult in heat of the moment makes her 16 and a bully?

And how dare she seek reassurance from her friends after being publicly dumped in front of everyone.

This is a guy who said that he can’t wait for her to meet his family because they’d all really love her and her personality, and his head will never be turned.

If Amber acted the way Michael did last night this thread would’ve been calling for her head.
All things considered her actions in casa amor and the villa last night have been very mature.

I wanted her to burn the place down

Amber and Anna are your stereotypical low level chav bullies at school. The arrogance of Amber saying something along the lines of "just by looking at her, i'm better than her in every way possible" on top of the "dead ting" too.

Anna is repulsive in her attitude - the whole "byebye byebye" thing a few weeks ago that Jordan called her out on. Plus the bitchiness of the women on the balcony when Maura and Elma came in.

Some posters like @altodevil will excuse Amber's behavior somewhat, but she's so snidey / self-entitled and stuck up, that under that "banging" surface there's no substance. Compare to Joanna and she's a bratty child.

The only thing Michael did wrong was probably telling Joanna Amber's flaws so quickly, but you could see that every time he tried to raise it with her, she'd be offended at being called out and either scoff / abrasively laugh it off, or try and remover herself from the conversation. Anna used similar tactics when she had a go at Jordan for calling her embarassing/childish and said that she "had to make it up to her for the rest of the day."

We haven't really seen what Joanna's like yet to be fair.

And yeah, that was dumb.

"she doesn't listen to me"
"oh I always listen to people"
"she's really childish"
"I'm really mature"
"I don't like the way she dismisses me"
"I never dismiss people"
"Jesus, you're like, perfect"

We haven't really seen what Joanna's like yet to be fair.

Agree with this. What have we even seen of her to make a judgement on how she is?

She came in having seen all what had gone before, knowing at times Michael had accused Amber of being a bit immature and played on that completely. Got him talking about what was wrong with Amber and started banging on about how mature she is in comparison. Planting little seeds of doubt in his mind about Amber, and whether they'd have any real future together. It was some text book PHD manipulation and she played him like a fiddle.

You really dislike her don't you?

We haven't seen Joanna's personality yet tbf, she seems a bit boring based on what we have seen so far (but the show is massively edited to create narratives)
Amber also said that people will get over it and go back to being friends like they did with Danny & Arabella, but as the night is unravelling surely you can understand why emotions would be high?

Michael did plenty wrong, if you can't see that then there's no point arguing about it.

"Hate" is very strong given i've never met them but they're not likeable on a personality level.

What was it that Michael did wrong - i agreed that he shouldn't have spoken to Joanna about Amber's flaws. Optically, he would have been better to say that he felt more compatIble with Joanna and less "restricted" compared to than with Amber rather than blame Amber in entirety. BUT when they were together, Amber was childish and wouldnt have had a grown up conversation when he tried to call her out on her childish antics.

To each their own, but i find it interesting how people watching the same show have polarising opinions. I reckon we all must connect with those situations and recall from personal experiences as to which islanders align our views with / see flaws in other islanders.

Yeah I'm generally on team Michael but he was a twat last night. He should've just apologized and said he had a deeper connection with Joanna bla bla but he went into full on defensive dickhead mode trying to provoke Amber.

She is a right little bollox of a thing though but it's easy to forget that she's only 20 sometimes.

Also big respect to Jordan, handled it really well last night. Anna is a complete cnut of the highest order.

Look at the list of things you've listed for Michael that's he's done wrong, and compare that to Amber.
So far, we have her calling Joanna a deadting & saying she's better than her in every way.
For Michael we have - him slagging off Amber in front of someone he just met, him blaming Amber for everything rather than admitting he just felt a better connection with Joanna, not apologising or considering her feelings, calling her pathetic while pointing his fingers in her face.

Also you can't say when they were together Amber was nothing but childish.
Look at them on date, just over a week ago:

He said that Amber would fit right in with his family, called her the female version of him and that getting to know each other has been so natural. Also Amber said that her head would never get turned.
You can't look at that date and tell me that Amber was nothing but childish around him, otherwise that would make him childish too since he admitted that they're so alike.
