Louis van Gaal: See you next year!

Yes, LVG, we will see you next year...on the beaches of Portugal.

He's digging his heels in a bid to force the club to pay the rest of his contract

Yeah... plans change all the time, that's why Moyes is no longer here.

 Van Gaal will be suprised that his three year contract can easily be terminated. Nevertheless, it is hard to say how much he will improve next season if stayed. He has some success with our young players and building a good defense. So, if he continues upon that, their is still hope that he can improve our performance.

His rants are always tricky to interpret. But I'd say this isn't what a man who is confident he'll be around next season would say. It's defensive more than anything. He's distancing himself from the club rather than embracing the challenge of continuing and getting things right.

Pretty sure he's gone.

But as others have said, it'll be both interesting and potentially very awkward - not to say ugly - when he's officially sacked. Nothing he says indicates that he's on the same page as Woody. *

* Unless I'm reading everything horribly wrong and Woody has no intention of replacing him.

says the last surviving van Gaal fan. :smirk:
I don't think he will stay, though. Today's result is the final nail in the coffin. With City dropping points now (or about to), drawing today's game is a chance thrown away. We could have been three points off them with a game in hand. Now we're four points off them.

Van Gaal is 100% gone.

You're right, he does sound a tad defensive, but who knows? Nevertheless, it reminded me a bit of Moyes towards the end. He kept talking about his 5 year contract didn't he? And then once we were mathematically out of top four he got the bullet. Not sure what's going on here but it seems slightly similar imho.

Could easily be, yes.

I doubt we'll ever learn all the details, but I hope we'll get at least some insight into how the club have handled this one.

If it's another mathematical decision, as it were, questions must be asked. Put it like this: From a certain perspective the only thing that might've vindicated not sacking Van Gaal months ago was a top 4 finish. Without that, you can reasonably claim that giving it to the tea lady back in December would've been fair enough.

Hindsight, obviously, but there it is. We should have learned from the Moyes situation that waiting until it's impossible to salvage anything, is generally not a wise move. Might cost more to act sooner, but we're not exactly paupers.
