Louis van Gaal | Manchester United manager

4-0... Hope Utd have some dosh left, may need to save some to get Pulis in Jan to keep them up!

Why? People criticized Moyes for looking clueless and that's what LVG looks

Stupid then and stupid now.

Still I really don't get what Van Gaal is doing in this match. Fair enough wanting to persist with his 3-5-2 but then it gets mangled with players once again playing in positions they are not really suited in. Januzaj ends up as a wingback again, Anderson and Pereira is hardly a balanced midfield and we've got 3 strikers up front. Especially worrying was we were really struggling to create anything of note and his solution was to bring on another striker in addition to the ones we had on the pitch.

Honeymoons over for van Gaal. One of the worst performances I can ever remember from a Manchester United team, and I don't care what competition it is.

I honestly wonder what LVG must of thought when he joined us and saw the absolute state of our squad. Seriosuly for arguably the biggest club in the world and the richest, our squad is embarrassing. Two thirds of the players in our squad should be nowhere near 'the biggest club in the world'.
I'm not trying to say LVG isn't to blame for anything but feck me, it must of been a bit of a shock for him when he started working with the squad.

Probably but then when you're coming to a team which has been struggling to move the ball well centrally and to threaten from wide, does seem odd to then settle on a formation that exposes those flaws even more. Unless he's just trying to show Woodward how poor the squad is to get some extra investment...

He's the manager, he is responsible whether we win or lose. This is an absolute abomination.

I think he's had enough time to evaluate the team and know which players have to leave. Some of the players have been downright embarrassing and do not deserve to wear the United shirt again.

Needs to start moving this pile of shit in the right direction because our first three games have been absolutely shocking. No excuses.

It's okay people, he told us it would take a few months. His philosophy is flawless, just a few months we have to wait.

Fecking pudding brain. I don't care whether it's the formation he wants us to move us towards playing those lads whilst also in a new formation against a spirited league team is disgraceful management.

3 weeks in and we're left with the FA cup, sigh

People on here said Moyes was wrong when he said the squad wasn't good enough, and cited winning the league the previous season as the reason why. Myself included. The bolded bit is exactly what you're trying to say. I'm no Moyes apologist, I came round after the Fulham match, but he would have had his head being called for last season after these three results, against much easier opposition than Moyes had in the start his season.

I don't blame him or the players. I just don't want to stop watching United game early ever again. If the performance like this happens ever again i am having meltdown.

I think saying that is pretty insulting to our players. It's acting as though they're a group of 8 year olds who only chase the ball, when in fact they're all grown adults and have been playing football all their lives. It's not hard to switch formations like that, players do it in training literally all the time or when they switch from 5-a-side to 11-a-side. Any decent manager would adapt his strategy to the strength of his players, our manager seems to expect our players to adapt to his strategy whether they are suited to it or not. I called it after the Sunderland result, LVG looks clueless in his belligerent attempt to leave his mark on the club and team. The man thinks he's bigger than United, he's not.

It's a shocking scoreline, but there's a lot of young players out there, mixed with squad players that will probably be sent packing soon. Getting on LVG's back for giving some players another chance is downright daft.

Agreed.

Though I wish he'll scrap the 352. One mistake at the back and the centre backs are too far apart to do anything to stop an attack.

I wanna see more passion from him rather just sat in the dugout throughout the match.

His selection and subs struck me as someone who's desperately searching for something within this squad.

If tonight doesn't convince him that this 3 at the back bollocks doesn't work then nothing will. Totally unacceptable. If this was a David Moyes side tonight people would be calling him all sorts.

I am yet to see any improvement this season.

If he continues to persist with this fecking 3-5-2 formation even after the arrival of Di Maria, then I'll really start to worry. I know he said it takes him a few months to get going at each new club he joins but 3 months of this will be utterly intolerable... so far we've drawn against a mid table side, lost to a bottom table side and now we've just lost 4-0 to a fecking league one side, where will it end???

He got the selection all wrong today. Classic case of a foreign manager underestimating a lower league team. I don't think SAF would have played so many young players at once with no real experience around them. And even if he did, he would definitely have had some experience on the bench in case things started to go wrong.

Did YOU criticise Moyes for the way he say on the bench?

Moyes easily spent more time on the touchline than on the bench but I'd be surprised if he actually struck any fear into the players with his shouting. Maybe the young'uns but not the experienced players.

He is responsible. Clearly the formation wasn't working and I expected changes at half time. However, given our rather severe lack of midfield options today (Powell/Ando/Pereira) it was understandable for him to start with the 3-5-2. The fact that we looked so narrow and disjointed in the first half should've been a clue for him.

Have to say not been a big fan of his substitutions so far. Hernandez had a really poor first half, just didn't make sense to keep him on and we were steadily loosing more and more control of the middle but not doing anything about it.

Tbh what worries me more is that we're going to persist with this even with ADM. If we weren't then I don't see why we'd need to play it today. I don't think there's an inherent problem with that system I just don't think we have enough players and enough confidence to actually play it as a steady formation for the whole squad.

I hope people don't completely blame the players. He was at fault too.
Of what exactly??
First goal - Evans feck up
Second goal - Keane gives the ball away after running to right wing.

Third goal - James gives it away, and Vermaijl Evans didn't react.

This was bullshit.

3 months of poor results in the PL will see us out of any potential race for 4th. It's the nature of our league and I'm sure LVG will come to realise that there is about 7 teams all challenging for that 4th spot.
