London 2012 Olympic Competition

Look away now if you want it all to remain a complete surprise. There have been a few leaks, and Arnold describes a speculative piece I wrote for the Telegraph when the show was first announced as “scarily accurate”.

So I would expect the performances to include Ray Davies of the Kinks singing Waterloo Sunset (surely London’s most beloved alternative anthem), Paul McCartney pulling out another gem from the Beatles canon, the Spice Girls reminding us about when they were just Wannabes, Adele turning on the tears for Someone Like You, Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran doing Wish You Were Here with members of Pink Floyd and a galaxy of other stars, including Take That, the Who, Muse, George Michael, Queen, Paul Weller, One Direction, Elton John, the Rolling Stones and perhaps even the reclusive Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill. But I’m just guessing.

So Mo puts medal number 60 on the board. With three boxers fighting for gold/silver Team GB are going to get at least 15 more medals than Beijing. And the gold count is up significantly.

Not long to go now until the big fight, 8:45pm.

Irelands John Joe Nevin is fighting GB's Luke Campbell for a Gold medal. It'll be a cracking fight and the atmosphere should be unreal too.

Tom Daley gets to do a re-dive because of flash photography from the fans... i dont remember this ever happening before

and its a brilliant dive!

Anyone see the end of the boxing match just then? The crowd booing furiously 'cos the Chinese guy won in the most dodgy of circumstances. Absolutely atrocious refereeing and judging - the Thai was robbed.

The French won't be happy. Le Monde posted a tongue-in-cheek article last week about British athletes receiving favourable treatment during these games.

Campbell never won that first round imo.

I had the 1st round level

But over all the brittish lad won the fight.

Nevin didnt move his head enough, wasnt tight enough and kept his hands too low. Campbell was better, just slightly.

I had the first round level as well, with Nevin shading it if there was a better fighter. Not two points in favour to Campbell. It's a big advantage, and after watching the Ogogo fight where they made a terrible decision I question the judges.

You do realise that they're totally different judges for this fight, yeh?

Campbell won it fair and square. He was the better boxer and deserved the gold.

Although saying that I don't want to take anything away from Nevin, who fought a brilliant fight and well deserves the silver. On a different day he could have had the gold, too.

First round: Draw, or Nevin's slightly
Second: Nevin
Third: Comprehensively Campbell

I think the first round was pivotal, because from that point Nevin was chasing him, and I think the judges got it wrong.

But likewise, Campbell is great fighter, and I hate to be a sour puss, but the judging in some of these fights is driving me nuts.

Campbell deserved it imo, boxed the better of the two.

The American ladies destroyed our national team in the basket ball final. They won the last 5 gold medals and are so in fecking run in the Olympics.40 wins (or something close to that) in a row...

This race walking thingy is completely dodgy. You could see clearly in the slow motion replay that the leader of the 20K women's race had both feet off the ground at some point on every step. Another sport the olympics should put on ignore.

Sushil Kumar through to the next round after beating Beijing's gold medalist.

What do my fellow Indians on here think about our performances?

I think we've done very well.. fancy a medal here in Wrestling
