London 2012 Olympic Competition

Yep, after a million hours of the tape squealing while loading. :D

Team GB looking set to top 60 medals now. They currently have 52 in the bag with another 4 guaranteed in boxing. Another medal is practically guaranteed in the sailing (mens 470), which might end up being gold. The women are also looking good for a medal in the sailing 470. Both field hockey teams are in the bronze medal match. Plus there are still a few canoeing medals up for grabs.

Would over 60 medals be Team GB's best ever tally?

Not best ever but best in the modern era. Actually they have already set a modern era record.

We have hopes in the BMX, Taekwondo and 5k. Maybe the men's Open Water too but i'm not sure on that.

Out of the two hockey team i'd place more confidence in the women, not only do they really want to walk away with at least some shade of medal, the men suffered such a crushing defeat the Dutch last night.

:smirk:

The option for me [not that i'm an editor] should either have been to go with Bolt or a Bolt themed headline with a picture spread of our golden trio.

Mo Farah will win something (hopefully Gold) in 5000m on Saturday too. Will be great if its a Gold to finish of these games in style for Team GB.

The open water swim must be fecking tough. Doing freestyle for so long would kill my arms, must require a lot of training.

Was at both Athletic sessions and BMX yesterday, hard trying to fit it all in, but queues moved WAY faster than I expected, so left the first athletic session after 4x400(actually the only thing I watched in that one) to go round London for a few hours and have some lunch in Green Park, came back for BMX, which was kind of weirdly awesome......but the crowd for Bolt, unreal, never heard anything like it.

For the 4x400 Brit team it was far louder than TV makes out, but Bolt was another level, really thought he'd break a record though, but no biggie. Electric no doubt.

Great seeing Jade Jones win on the big screen though. Really crushes the whole class thing, if you want to do it, you can! From pictures and stuff of Flint from friends, it was absolutely rocking, good for them, not too far up the road from me.

The main fold, which covers the front of the paper, was of Bolt (as above). They also had Bolt after the 100m final, think he's the only one to have graced the front twice!

Well erm... everyone knows the fold doesn't count as the front page :nervous:

To be fair, I got it off somewhere else... so I excuse myself from giving any mis-information!

Yesterday i was very proud Latvian, today i'm fecking very proud Latvian :D
Maris Strombergs 2x Olympic champion, get in there!

Melo probably wishes he could play for team USA all the time. They keep hitting the 3 pointers for fun - too easy again for USA.

Never realised referees could stop the game when a player's injured. Hopefully Westbrook is ok.

USA v Spain in the basketball final. Hopefully the size advantage Spain has can make it a more competitive game, but I don't think they'll be able to stop this US offense.

It's not going to be like the opening ceremony that's for sure, although to be fair the director sums it up quite well:

"If the Opening Ceremony was the wedding, then we’re the wedding reception. We’re the one where everyone gets out of their cars at the village hall, goes 'Wasn’t that lovely, everyone looked great, let’s put on Blame It On the Boogie and have a laugh.’”

But still, it sounds like it's going to be X-Factor Live. feck that.

Have you heard this story about how a dozen gold medal winning men have been given BMWs but none of them women?

Bearing n mind their central role in our success and being responsible for some of the greatest moments of the Olympics, it is a bit off to say the least. Or appears so.

Yogeshwar Dutt wins a bronze for India. :D

3 bouts in an hour and 10 minutes, and won all. The move in the end was just epic. :D

It's going to be Boris & the Spice Girls singing We're Rich, F*ck Everyone Else from inside a black stretch taxi.
