London 2012 Olympic Competition

this conlon lad looks good in the ring for Ireland, so quick on his feet.

12 -5 after 2 rounds. Looks good for the win if he can avoid a big hit.

What a great win for Murray. I just ran to my tennis coach nighbor's house yelling and jumping up and down. (It's okay, he knows I'm eccentric).

What a finish to Norway - Denmark... Phewww! Get the feck in, Karoline Dyhre Breivang, what a goal. Terrible match by Norway though.

The GB vs France womens basketball match is actually well exciting. Really enjoying it.

Over time, 10.4 seconds left, GB have two free throws down 76-77

Now 77-77... and she misses the second.

And France just hit a three to basically win it 77-80.

0.2 seconds left.

I suspect you won't see tears from whichever player loses the final. The Olympics is viewed as being fun but not quite up there. Usually it's just another box ticked.

Certainly didn't seem that way today. I've never seen a more animated pair of players than during that Murray/Djok game. Not to mention Del Potro in tears and looking completely crushed after his defeat.

Yeah? Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

But yep, they'll need to improve significantly if they're gonna have a shot at the gold.

Looking forward to the tennis final now. I've had Federer to win it since the start of the tournament but Murray may just have the edge for me now after Federer's long match today.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are tears from the loser though, especially if it's Federer. He's desperate to win this before he retires. I wouldn't be surprised if he has winning this up there with a grand slam this year. We know that he does like the occasional bubble when he loses as well. Then for Murray, he won't want to lose to Federer on the same court again in a relatively big event.

Do you disagree? Norway were very messy I thought (and Hundvin did too). And I'm no handball expert, but I enjoy watching the NT in the big tournaments. Løke is a beast, I love her.

No, I don't disagree, they were quite shit.

And I don't like Løke, but that's for personal reasons which I cannot disclose :p

I don't care who you are - it's an Olympic gold medal at stake.

There's no doubt it is important. Everyone would like to be a Gold medalist. Huge thing for any sportsman. But it's nothing compared to a GS in general. Murray would rather have won Wimbledon I reckon and by a distance as well.

As for the final itself, this is Murray's best chance to win something major. Federer hasn't looked in the form he was in at Wimbledon. But of course he can easily turn it on for the final.

At least a silver.

A win on Sunday really could be a game changer for him psychologically when it comes to the slams.

Really? He has beaten Federer quite a few times in three set games it is the five set games where his arse fall out.

100m mens heats on now, always good to watch.

Can someone explain why Pistorios isn't running in the Paralympics?

Ah so you're allowed to compete in the Olympics if you're good enough, despite disability? That's good.

I like the sports that receive relatively little coverage in the build up to the Games, and then it turns out we secretly have a fairly decent shout in them e.g. the triathlon on at the moment.

wtf is wrong with you Brits. Resorting to gamesmanship for a re-start in rowing too now?

They were going well, no reason to want a re-start in this instance. Just bad luck.

e quelle surprise - The brits are off to a much better start the second time around.

They had a pretty good start for the first 50 metres and then I think the seat came off
