This trend of knighting people for doing well at the Olympics (albeit sustained) is fecking stupid. Knight him in years to come, sure. But it's all a fecking gimmick. We should send him, Chris Hoy, Steve Redgrave & Cliff Richard on a quest to capture the Holy Grail if we're being serious about it.

Then again, Knighthoods are fecking stupid to begin with.

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, you just moaned about how we only award knighthoods to soldiers who go to war.

I think it wold be more for the Tour de France win on the back of previous Olympic success than today's time trial.

It has been a great sporting day [rowing too] and the weather is fine, where's the happiness Mockney?
 
The whole thing is fecking stupid anyway. But the fact is, if we were as good at the Olympics as the Americans or the Chinese, we wouldn't be doing it would we? Because we'd be knighting 30 people every 4 years. So it's a gimmick.

I think both Beckham & Giggs will be knighted at some point in their lives, but they're not going to be during their careers. So why do it for Olympians? It's not about modernisation. They've been modernised for years. Tim Rice is a fecking Knight of the Realm for writing some dodgy lyrics for musicals.

There's a really good film in there somewhere. King Arthur coming back from the dead to organise a new Knights of the Round table out of Terry Wogan, Bob Geldof and Cliff Richard.
 
This cycling event on now looks bloody stupid. What's the point of them following that little motorbike round for 5 laps if they only start doing something when it leaves?
 
That she did, her and Mears both look on top form. Hopefully things continue to go plan for our Vic.

The motorbike is a pacesetter, gradually building the tension before they let rip.

Great race, thats probably the pinnacle of their careers. Gold, WR, Olympic Final, Home Country.
 
They smashed it. A very dominant display by the men there.
 
Watching the cycling as a Briton gives you a small insight in to what it's like being Chinese.
 
I think i heard that there are plans to get Dave Brailsford to take up a leadership role for all British sport, maybe throw in somebody from the rowing system while they're at it.

Christ, we are really starting to dominate the cycling events. Stunning to break the WR in both sprint and pirsuit. Shame Cav didn't win the road race given that he was clearly the top sprinter, but perhaps he was too fancied and it was one of those races where no-one wanted to get in a sprint situation with him.

Pendleton will do well to win a gold here - should definitely see another medal though.
