Liverpool's inevitable q̶u̶a̶d̶r̶u̶p̶l̶e̶ tr̶i̶p̶l̶e̶ dibble/ The Hala Madrid Thread

Will Klopp be fired? Surely Liverpool fans can't be happy with 1 league in 8 (31) years despite having the best squad ever assembled?

Couldn't care less about what type of treble it is though, it's still a treble of trophies whereas we've had a miserable season.

And if they win the CL again they've got more than double the amount we have, which is pathetic when you think of how long SAF ruled England.
Exactly.

As nice as it is for Liverpool to have not gotten a quadruple [when will the media learn you don’t start talk about these things so early], they’ve 2 domestic cups in the bag & are favourites for the UCL & then losing today gives our city rivals another title.

We used to laugh at RAWK for celebrating these kind of ‘victories’.

Talking of fired managers, I've just finally taken an interest in the league table tonight below 4th place. Utd have finished 35 points below City and 36 points above Norwich. Dayam.

Thoroughly delighted to see City turn that around today, and the Anfield crowd going beserk thinking Villa equalised, was the cherry on top. haha

What I'd give to see Carra, Phil Thompson and John Aldridge's reactions as Gundogan stuck the 3rd in.

Yeah, a remarkably bad period for United and a remarkably good one for Liverpool. Guess it makes no difference now that City have popped you to it. Nobody remembers the runners up, do they? :)

well done for winning the second place trophy. Again.

With this remarkably bad period I can't see you in the CL for another few seasons. Too much rebuilding and Ten Haag is a huge gamble from a nomark league. Conte and Tuchel won't be giving their places to you.

@Giggsyking you need some second, third or fourth placed trophies mate. Urgently. The Glazers need their dividends.

When we were 2nd and 3rd last two seasons, we still called for the manager to be sacked. Right back at you.

You would have to be the biggest cretin in the industry to fire a manager like him at this moment. No manager out there would make Liverpool come so close to City both times they lost out on the league was with 1 point. Taken them to 3 CL finals and won 2 domestic titles this year. And could potentially win the CL.

I do think his Liverpool tenure will end like it did at BvB though. The intensity of which his teams play bites them in the arse in the long run also yet to be seen if Salah and Mane stay.

Bad effort but shouldn’t you be takin the piss out of your new rivals….West Ham?

Salah on his way, VVD 30, Henderson 30, Milner 45, Mane 30. This is an aging Liverpool team that didn't really live up to the hype - but look, at least ye won that one title during covid - well done! :)

Hope the rebuild goes as well as our has so far !

People want @Klopper76 and @Dumbstar banned, at least they don't write shite like that. Actually I probably never seen anyone of the more serious Liverpool fans write that type of crap.
The only Liverpool poster who actually deserves to be banned is @njred and it’s not because Liverpool are doing well, it’s because he’s a terrible poster. @Dumbstar is the biggest WUM the forum has ever seen but it wouldn’t be the same without him.

Never mind them not winning the league, this supposed 'Greatest Liverpool team ever' couldn't even manage consecutive 5-0's against us.

5-0 and 4-0 is not quite the same as what we did to them back in 1946 in consecutive matches...

Anfield - 16th Feb 1946
Liverpool 0-5 Man Utd

Maine Road - 11th Sept 1946
Man Utd 5-0 Liverpool

9-0 isn't as good as 10-0 is it? :D

Failed quadruple isn't as good as the proper Treble is it?

Maine Road?

Don't know if it was mentioned, big thanks to Spurs. They cost them the title.

Were you at that 1946 game out of interest? I’ve seen you bring that up before.

Whether I was there or not, my beloved United recorded a 10-0 aggregate score in back to back games against Liverpool.

This current 'Greatest Liverpool team ever' only managed a 9-0 aggregate score in back to back games against United.

Yeah you’ve got me. I was gutted after our 4-0 win against you at Anfield when I checked back to 1946 and noticed that we were a goal behind United’s infamous double (so infamous that I had definitely heard of it before you brought it up). I’d trade everything we’ve had under Klopp if it meant we could beat that memorable double (seriously I was aware of it).

A bit of optimism:
The last two times that Betis won la Copa del Rey (1977/2005) Liverpool were European champions.
The last time Madrid lost a European Cup final was in Paris, and against Liverpool.
The last time Spain was third in Eurovision (1984) Liverpool also won the European Cup.
:nervous:

*The Betis cups also coincide with the death of the pope, so Francisco may have to be careful.

Well with trophies mate we've won more FA Cups than you and without checking I think we've won more since Fergie left you. Liverpool have won far more CLs out of English clubs, You've won the most League titles though, at least until City surpass you though and then you won't be the top of any trophy stack will you?

I never claimed we've won the trebble. But yes yours was very flukey with the penalty miss, Vieira assists and boot it and hope corners as your crowning moment.
This pathetic excuse for a wum needs a thread ban

Both these teams came pretty close and with the depth of squads I'd say it's a matter of time. But that said, it show's what an achievement it was. Also hats off to that Arsenal team that were breathing down our neck domestically,

Yeah, Liverpool were a goal away from being favorites to do it. Not sure why people think it won't happen. City I think have the better odds though.

Liverpool won't get a better chance than this season (be it 'the' treble/quadruple) but people are underestimating how rare they are. The luck you need along the way is close to being unprecedented, after all it's only been done once in Italy and Real Madrid have never done it in their history. That said, within the next decade or so an English side will probably do it -- with City being the far most likely candidate.

God it must have felt beautiful to them when Coutinho scored

That was my worst part of the day because I thought we were going to draw and screw it up.

You guys have been a great team but I’d feel horrible if this season ended up with just an FA cup and Carabao!

It’s hard to be that disappointed with two out of four but I think we need to win in Paris to make it a great season.

The league is a joke. We re dropped four points since January and it still wasn’t enough. That’s the nature of the competition against Pep’s City though.
