Shanks really respects you're response there Dancuffe and agress with most of your points fully.
However.
Shanks is a firm beleiver that to play good, attacking football, you need good attacking players. Liverpool lack one or two of them right now. Also, the centre back isssue is an interesting one.
H&H are class. But are slow. To compensate for their lack of pace, they sit deep. if our mids want the ball, THEY have to come deep. Iif not, it gets hoofed long. That's a big problem. Someone like Gallas or Boumsong, who are comfortable on the ball and possess lot's of pace (like Rio and Sliverstre), would make a huge difference to our team.
Then two good, attacking fullbacks are needed to push forward. A fit Babbel is undeniably the best in Europe at this. But his fitness is now looking very worrying. Finnan is a good option. Carra doesn't cut it, Shanks feels, in the final third.
Riise or Vignal then, of course, on the left.

I think JC has it as a defender but lacks the ability to support your midfield effectivly beyond the half way line.Riise though has it all though and scores goals.
I think Gallas would be a fine aquisition for any Premiership team.And with a 7m get out clause in his contract a bargin to. He's fast,good ball skills and versatile.
I think your right in pointing out that it is the wide areas that Liverpool need to build on. To much goes through the middle with Liverpool and it would help ease the enormous pressure that is placed on Hamman Gerrard and Owen.For me Smicer, Diouf the new french guy? Don't seem to have what it takes. Even United have some dead wood though, Forlan,Fortune and May to name a few. It seems that if they (Owen,Gerrard and Hamman) don't perform Liverpool don't know what to do with the ball. I do like the look of Baros (your biggest plus of the season in my opinion).
