Liverpool 2024-25 | Inevitably winning the quadruple

If the game goes ahead I feel like we have a good chance of a draw. You only have 2 wins in the last 10 at Goodison.

Just checked that stat out. Their record at Goodison not that great over the past 30 years.

Played 30, Won 11, Lost 4, Draws 15 of which 7 were goalless.

The UK weather forecast for the weekend is grim, especially in Lancashire. Winds of 65mph ,heavy rain and very cold. If the game isn't called off I can't see them playing well in those conditions. Everton should get a draw at least.

Yeah not our favorite ground by any means. Also no Alisson, Mac Allister, Jota or Konate. Tsimikas, Bradley and Chiesa still out too.

A postponement wouldn't be the worst thing for us. Not sure that'll happen though.

Why would the game be called off?

For the derby, the main issue will be safety for the supporters around the ground. The club and emergency services have held meetings on the potential problems on Friday and discussions over the event will continue in the morning.
A statement released by Everton and Liverpool FC on Friday evening advised: "Supporters attending Saturday’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park are advised to allow extra time for travel, and to remain alert to Met Office weather warnings.

"An amber severe wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for Merseyside from 1am on Saturday morning, with wind gusts of 60mph to 70mph likely. That warning for wind is expected to remain in place until 6am on Sunday. Given the weather warning, fans are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to take extra care.

"Fans are also advised to keep a close eye on travel and weather guidance in their area to assist with travel planning for Saturday’s Premier League fixture (12:30pm kick-off)."

Will likely go ahead but there's a chance it could be called off if the city is battered.

Man City is still their main challenger. If Liverpool have another couple of draws or a loss before new years, they'll smell blood and go after it like old times.

Liverpool leading by so much so early smacks of "Oops this team scored too early against City".
Already nine points behind and City will continue to drop plenty of points without Rodri, Pep main objective will be finishing in the top 4 this season and not challenging for the title.

I hope Slot has a special plan in place to accommodate the loss of Chiesa to the squad

At some point Liverpool will play someone decent and will get an injury. Until then, I’ll reserve judgement.

I mean it's his only signing and he's been crocked. Not ideal for a new manager and he would be useful to have for Girona and Southampton in the Carabao. Pretty sure we've had more injuries than "injury stricken" Arsenal.

Sounds like the derby might not even be played tomorrow.

There is no such thing as scoring too early, that is the most ridiculous saying in football. That implys that man city were not trying to score at 0-0, and that man city trying to come from behind makes man city more likely to win the game.

The other team can also park the bus more at 1-0, and also only counter attack without leaving themselves open at the back, which is the only way teams ever beat or draw against man city anyway(maybe with the exception of tottenham this season,or liverpool in past seasons.)

It's like saying that a boxer landed a heavy punch that knocked the other boxer down 'too early.'

Well it do be like that sometimes.

Complacency is a thing in football even involuntarily. Going behind when you know you're good enough to win can shake that off. Goals either way change the psychological make up of a game.
Sometimes, teams really can be better off keeping the snoozefest going.

I am legitimately curious to see how they’d weather a long term injury to either Salah or Gravenberch.
Salah would be the one. Imagine it would be as devastating as Rodri has been for city given their respective importance on their teams. But the fella is made of iron sadly.

An almost perfect weekend for them.
All rivals drop points again.

I think that fulham scored to early today, that's why arsenal won.

While I don't think Chelsea will win the league, the gap Liverpool has on them could still shorten over Christmas.

Let's face it. With their lead and when considering the standard of the Chelsea defence - in particular the GK. If the Dippers do not win the league from this position, it will be akin to that time Spurs finished third in a two horse race.

Liverpool still have to play every single top team away from home barring us and United.

They deserve the top spot ofcourse but when the pressure is on and the big fixtures are all left it becomes harder. No way is this Liverpool side good enough to get anything more than 85 points.

85 points will win the league this season, probably easily.

So Chelsea and City away then? Gosh

Chelsea still has City and Arsenal away, Arsenal probably something similar. Really weird thing to come up with at almost the halfway point of the season since everyone's home/away games versus other top teams will probably look alike.

It depends what you class as a top team i suppose. The only team in the current top half Liverpool have played away from home is Arsenal, although trips to Newcastle & Utd are still big games. You dropped points in 2 of those games. Think your other 4 away games have been against the current bottom 4.

Meanwhile Arsenal have played 5 of the top 10 away from home, and Spurs and Newcastle as well in 11th & 12th.

It's not even just the games vs the usual big 6, I don't think Liverpool fans should be offended by people wanting to see how they do away at the likes of Brighton, Villa, Fulham, Brentford, because they are all grounds where big teams have dropped points in the past season or 2. You might batter these teams, and if you do fair play, you might not even need to depending on other results if City & Arsenal keep dropping points, or Chelsea hit a sticky patch. You still have a nice points gap, you still have a game in hand, so i think most see you as clear favourites anyway regardless.

Shutting down a Christmas Party after "drug use". Oh well, let's continue doing those vodka shots.

Arsenal again not taking advantage of Pool dropping points.

Just give them the title already. :(

Probably RM propaganda... but I hope there's some truth in it. Now Salah and VVD to follow.

They will win the league by 10 or more points.
This. The media are trying to make out Chelsea can win the league. However, with their average age you've got to think they would buckle towards the end of the season if they're in with a shout. In addition, at close to half the season gone on a average point system, the Dippers are on course for a 90 point season, whereas Chelsea are on course for 81 points. So, it is not even close in truth.

Doubt Chelsea will even hit the 80 point mark, once top 4 is 100% confirmed they'll probably fade. Liverpool to get 83 to 86 points I reckon and still finish well ahead of the chasing pack.

I said I'd wait until Xmas to see if they dropped points and Arsenal were able to put a run together to close the gap, and the gap still remains, so can't see anything other than Liverpool winning it now.

I don't see much between the teams, but Liverpool have a world class player on top form at the business end of the pitch, and seem to be enjoying the relative stability in terms of injuries that we enjoyed last season.

There's half a season left to go, and this is a season where going to places like Bournemouth, Brighton, Forest etc seem more difficult than usual, and though I can see Liverpool dropping more points I can say the same of Arsenal and Chelsea.
