Are you really following this season or what? Don't make much out of this victory. This season is worse than Moyes one. Weaker teams have beaten United.

Of course I’ve been watching this season

Football is a very queer thing

Because your having a hilariously terrible season doesn’t mean I would arrogantly think you guys would be a roll over.

It’s Jose Mourinho and Manchester United

Look at the result Jose’s United have gotten against us in the last 6 meetings

I was thinking we should probably roll you over with what I’ve seen thus far, but I certainly didn’t absolutely expect it for such a huge heavy clash, United players just had zero fight in them which was a surprise considering how massive this particular fixture is.

So you are clearly not following the season.

These fecks couldn't turn up at Etihad, couldn't do shit at Valencia to top the group, can't keep a clean sheet and you just think they will magically turn up against Liverpool.

Talking about last 6 meetings, how many of those happened this season? Things just don't happen magically. You need serious luck and other team to feck up everything(Juventus fixture) to allow united win a big game this season.

And now you cheer on City, after mocking them for more than 30 years. How the mighty have fallen.

I certainly don't cheer on City - i'm just happy watching my team winning 15 Leagues during my lifetime and those who told us 'Come back when you win 18 Leagues' stuck on the same 18 whilst we won another 13!

If they do end up winning the league at least it’s a team full of foreigners. No real scousers in their main squad really.

Would be way more painful to see the likes of Gerrard and Carragher win it.

I’m clutching for positives here.

That's kind of sad really. I like globalization, not in football though. It was nice when the teams had city players. Only a matter of time before the top 6 teams are all russian/arab and the only distinction between them are the colour of the shirt.

I was surprised by their energy levels. The fixture list was brutal as they had to play PSG, Everton, two away league games, Napoli and United within 18 days and they ran like lunatics in the last two games. If they manage to keep these energy levels and intensity, they have a chance to win the league. It's a big IF though. At some point the likes of VVD and Salah will feel the burden of having to start in virtually every EPL and CL game.

I think that City are the better team as they can beat teams without running too much, have more depth and have already proved that they can go well above 90 pts if needed. In 8 out of 10 league campaigns, they would win. But, paradoxically, the fact that City have a great team helps Liverpool psychologically for they have nothing to lose.

It would be a great title race for neutrals, that's for sure.

One of the strangest things about yesterday was Jose' comments about Liverpool in his post match presser. He praised our intensity, physical condition and even singled out certain players for extra praise. It's not that often any manager does that let alone a Utd or Liverpool manager after a game where they have been second best to their biggest rival. Maybe he appreciated the fact that Klopp was quite complimentary towards him and Utd in his pre-match presser. The conspiracy theorist in me says perhaps he is laying the foundations to try to mend his relationship with Liverpool so he can be considered in the future as a manager (Spoiler alert: he has no chance).

Whatever the reason it was a bit disconcerting to receive praise from him. I much prefer when he is having digs at us.

Watching? You mean watched. It's in the past now. Just like how Liverpool dominated before you football works in cycles and we amassed 5 UCLs, doubt you'll be matching that anytime soon.

I didn't watch it but wouldn't be surprised if his implicit point was that your energy levels are a bit suspect.

I did consider that tbh and its possible but I think he wouldn't have been able to help himself and would have made that point more directly. His comment about still being tired after watching Robertson was quite funny. Utd players do run quite a bit less but I think that is directly linked to the fact that he doesn't give his players freedom to stray far from their zones.

it's clear that he highly rates liverpool.... he compared them to his porto team when they won the cl

he's basically say if he had that liverpool team... "then my way would work"

envious... yes. he wants a big january transfer

I doubt José would ever do that, you manage one of United or Liverpool never both. Now if Pep wants to lay some foundations on the other hand....

Goals mounting again

3 against burnley, 4 aganst Bournemouth, and 3 against United. Personally I think they will be fired up and knock Bayern out.

Ahhh so the past doesn't count now!?

And remember that you amassed 1 CL and we won 2. :D

He got massively lucky to score twice yesterday, without the deflections his shots would have been a lot more saveable. Still that game probably was the most impact he's had in nearly all of his career.

In fairness yeah they were lucky goals but if there was ever a time to use the phrase 'you make your own luck' it was yesterday. They had enough shots to warrant some going in off a defenders leg or whatever.

That being said, I wasn't particularly impressed by Liverpool yesterday, they weren't the best team we've faced this season. It'll be interesting to see if they'll gas with the leg work they put in, plus coming off the back of a WC year n all.

He's fecking quality, best left back in the league easily. Incredible how little you picked him up for.

People laughed at me a couple of weeks ago when I said on here that Robertson is the best left-back in the world at present. He's amazing and is so good at either defensive or attacking side of his game. He has very few weakness in his overall game

I haven't watched enough of the other leagues this season to pass reliable judgement on whether he's the best in the world, but certainly there isn't a finer left back in the league this season.

Work rate, athleticism, generally excellent delivery and he's an intelligent defender to boot. Perhaps he's not the most exciting fullback around but like you say he's a player with few weaknesses and rarely puts in a bad performance.

You dont really have to bother about what people on caf has to say about your opinion. Not a good barometer to judge.

Out of interest, who were the best team you've faced this season? Apart from Juve in the CL, as that's cheating :D (they beat you better at OT than we did at Anfield, no doubt about it).

It'll be just as bad next summer when Mane & Salah go to the AFCON. To avoid any sort of serious gassing, I really hope we get a player or two in this coming January.

Ahead of Mendy and Alonso?

Definitely.

Alonso I don't rate at all, as a wing back he's a useful player but defensively he constantly gets exposed as an actual fullback. Mendy is similar, you won't find a much more creative fullback but in terms of his defensive work he's not close to Robertson.

For me Robertson offers the best all round, he was a huge pickup for them considering their other options. Van Djik/Alisson/Robertson were all huge step ups for Liverpool.

City by a fairly large distance. They tore us apart at will during our last encounter and should have won the game far more comfortably than the scoreline (3-1) would suggest. One of the best football teams I have ever seen.

Liverpool is very good side, but they lack that cutting edge in attack and it makes them a little predictable if I'm honest. They were reluctant to play with any width yesterday, which surprised me given how congested the centre of the park was.

Moreso than Juve? Taking into account that Juve didn't really get out of second gear in that OT game. (I know I said not including Juve originally, but I was wondering how you compare the two).

We could really do with more offensive options, as like you say, Salah/Firmino/Mane is pretty predictable at this point, which is why I always end up calling for Shaqiri to come on and offer more from midfield than our standard midfield 3 do. We get away with it a lot because, despite their predictability, they're still very hard to stop players, but against the top teams, it's surely going to be an issue.

Meanwhile, you get used to Mahrez/Jesus/Sane, KDB/Aguero/Sterling are chilling on the bench ready to give you something different

That 343 system that Chelsea are playing this season clearly doesn't favour a natural left back position. Alonso was largely brilliant under Conte's more traditional 451 system for the majority of last season. Mendy is a very typical modern fullback and probably the best on the planet in the role.

I haven't seen enough of Robertson to make a valid assessment in fairness.

According to the stats last season there were 10 other clubs who covered more distance than we did. The 10 outfield players don't run flat out for every second they're on the pitch. The intensity is orchestrated in accordance to the situation. Such as the front 3 or 4 pressing the keeper & defenders when the ball is in the final 3rd of the pitch. Our play up until the past 2 or 3 games has been quite conservative all in all. It's only recently that we've embarked on the high tempo pressing game we witnessed last season. Don't know if this has been planned by Klopp, or whether we just haven't clicked up until now. But the fact is, we've never really shown any signs of tiredness in the 3 seasons Jurgen has been in charge. We've had periods of inconsistency where we've dropped points, but there's nothing to suggest that it's down to the players running out of gas. & I'd also add that we have a much bigger squad this season which would negate players burning out over the course of the season.

Don't know. Our subs have won us the points in our last 2 home games.

Klopp said in one of his presser sometime ago that if we are close come January, then we will start playing our pressing again game.

Impactful changes (with a bit of luck thrown in) for sure, but we've nothing on City's squad. Our first XI toe-to-toe with theirs stands up to scrutiny (perhaps less so in midfield), but our options beyond that, especially with our current injuries, are so far behind theirs it's not even funny.

It's the reason City are favourites for the league. Put Aguero/Sterling/KDB on our bench & we'd be laughing.

Juve was brilliant, but City was far and away the best team we have played this season in my opinion. Then again, we've made a then bottom of the table Newcastle side look like world beaters this season, along with a whole host of others (including Championship Derby), so it's becoming rather difficult to tell the difference between a good team and an average one. Juve and Newcastle playing in identical strips don't help in that regard.

Feck you, Jose, feck you very much.

Sprints are the more important stat regarding energy levels and fatigue. And you probably top the table now.

The Liverpool performance against utd was so hyped up it was unbelievable. When Liverpool always play the big clubs, they raise their game about 15 to 20%. The reason they do this against the top clubs, is that the quality of those clubs should be on par, if not slightly better than their own. So raising their game is to get that advantage to win.

What they didn't realise, was Utd are a top club on paper, but on the pitch they are average mid table team. It's like Liverpool playing at that level to a team like Westham or Bournemouth at home. . They would destroy them. But they never really do that against those teams, because they don't need to.

So all this about how Fabino is now the missing piece in the jigsaw and Shaquri is the new Couthino is laughable. You guys played the weakest Utd team I can remember whos manager wants the sack. Surely their are some Liverpool fans out their who see this.

Yes, we played the weakest Man Utd team in a long, long time. It doesn't matter, we beat what was in front of us.

Jose set up the team expecting to oppose a 4-3-3 formation, but Firmino was playing deeper than he thought and Salah was playing central. We are playing slightly different formations in every game. We are much more unpredictable than last season. Although Fellaini plugged the gap in midfield, we still found a way.

You are basing your analysis of Liverpool on one game. Fabinho has been getting better and better. Shaq has been consistently assisting and scoring goals before the Man Utd game. He is a gamer changer.

Why are Liverpool fans on this forum? I don't get it?

Why would you want to talk with us about football?

I would never want to go to RAWK to talk to your lot ever.

I'm not being a w*nker I'm genuinely interested to know why you are here?

I just don't get it
