Salah looks knackered, I'm sincerely hoping that his summer of having to rush back to fitness for the world cup will affect Liverpool in the tail end of the season

Thought we were poor today. Mane couldn’t find a team mate to save his life and Milner looked knackered towards the end. Alisson needs to be less casual with the ball at his feet sometimes.

Firmino and Salah both look like they’re lacking some fitness as well.

Nothing special atm.

Yeah we were good in season opener (altho the Hammers helped us look even better) but last two haven't been great. I think like a lot of teams the WC has played a part with a late start to pre-season for some players. Our front 3 look a bit sloppy and sluggish at times.

Hopefully the Geordies can win tomorrow and its a draw on Monday. That will have been a great weekend.

Ugly game today. Mane was poor and Firmino nowhere to be found. And while Alisson can be pleasing on the eye, he needs to learn when to do his tricks. Positives were the result and Gomez, who looks like he could actually challenge Lovren for the cb spot.

Klopps subs are the weakest part of his management. Sturridge and Shaqiri should have played a lot more than they have done.

That's been his weakness ever since he came here. Mane for Sturridge and Firmino for Shaqiri. I have a feeling Shaqiri may play a bigger role against Leicester.

Yeah, I wondered about Shaqiri too as both Mane and Firmino were passengers today. Hopefully he'll get game time against Leicester.

Not good enough today, Brighton played well and they'll do well this season.

On the plus side, winning ugly is a good habit to have and it's another clean sheet. Gini has made a really good start to the season, the no.6 position suits him quite well as he doesn't waste possession and keeps the play ticking along nicely.

Most of the lads do need to get their match fitness up, they looked lethargic. 9 points out 9 with 3 clean sheets, I would have bitten anyone's hand off that before the season had started.

I'm not a fan of the keepers antics. If he keeps that up he will make a mistake and will be punished for it.

Hes always done it and roma fans say that by the end they didnt even get nervous about it as he pulled it off well enough

We were not that good today. I think Shaq should have come in. Mane was rather wasteful, and Keita was too passive when in posession.
On the positive note, our fullbacks are just good. Robertson is such a workhorse. TAA looks very nice for his age. Also, Gomez seems like a viable CB option this season, I think Lovren might have it hard to start when he's back.
Leicester will definitely play more open and we'll have a better, more entertaining game.

The attack looks rusty as feck but the defence has been solid so far. We'll find out a lot from these next few games.

It looks that they are the true favorites to win the 18/19 season.

Three points secured with less than stellar football.

They've played 3 average/poor teams and beaten them. How on earth does that make them favourites so early in the season?

It's a good start, they'll take it and points are all that matter this early, but we haven't learned anything new from Liverpool yet. We also won our first two fixtures whilst playing pretty poor football, so if instead of United we had Cardiff at home and won, we'd be favourites too? Newcastle away is harder than any fixture they've had so far.

I think they're a very good side and probably will get second, but people are jumping the gun way too early with them, a team struggling to win while playing badly isn't always a title winning sign. City are still very clear favourites at this point and Liverpool now have a couple of tricky fixtures coming up where we can really see their title credentials. At the moment though it's all just media hype because they signed players.

Antics? I assume that you would rather he just blast the ball forward rather then try and keep possession?
There's keeping sensible possession, and then there's repeatedly taking silly risks in spots where you're guaranteed to concede a goal whenever your "trick" doesn't come off. Defend it if you want but Klopp certainly won't let him continue with that stupidity.

Only team with max points???? Can’t argue with that at all.

Well yeah, but only because a few teams who won their first two are yet to play.

Those being Watford (Vs Palace at Home), us (Vs United away) and Chelsea (vs Newcastle away).

Beating the 'poor/average' teams holds the key to winning the league. Three clean sheets indicates big improvement in defence too, which was the key point of weakness in the side.

We probably couldn't have started any better, barring a couple more goals today. It doesn't make us favourites, but the side is definitely showing signs of evolution from last year.

I think they miss Chamberlain quite a lot. Wonder if he’s a reason their attack doesn’t look too good at the moment. They seem to lack a goal threat and dribbling ability in midfield without him, him committing players must have opened up loads of space for others too. When is he back?

I know it does .. but declaring you a clear contender after beating Brighton, Palace and Newcastle is ridiculous. As I just said, we beat Fulham and Newcastle and if you gave us Brighton at home to round it up, I'm pretty sure we'd also complete a hattrick. Doesn't mean we're contenders. The clean sheet point is valid though, and is a clear improvement in your side, though I'd say that's less an evolution of this season, and more a change which can be seen since you brought in VVD/Robertson.

You've started well - nobody is saying otherwise, 3 games 9 points? Perfect. I'm just saying people need to calm it down with the 'title winners famously win games ugly!' stuff, because it's just too early. You've had three easy fixtures and you've done well to win in them, but the real tests will come against us and Leicester away, that's where we'll really start to see how much you have evolved. We'll see that defence/Alisson under more pressure, see if the attack can click a bit more etc.

So we have learnt something new? We beat West Ham, not Newcastle btw.

I think only one person in this thread has actually mentioned the 'title winners win ugly games' stuff, and he's a Man Utd fan.

My original response was to somebody declaring you as title favourites based on the first three games, which is obviously nonsense.

We really haven't learnt much, other than VVD/Robertson continue to improve your defence .. which we've been seeing for ages. You haven't been that poor defensively for a while now. I think you'd have won these 3 opening games without your new signings.

Like I said, this 'evolution' you're talking about will be proven in the next couple of games, where you have some tough away matches, which you've struggled with in the past. Win those? Then we're talking a proper change in this Liverpool team.

Today, I wasn't impressed. You allowed Brighton to stay in the game and towards the end they had a couple of chances to score. Is that title winners luck? Maybe, too early to say.

31s - He didn't need to come off his line for that. 4 defenders back.

1:35 - Takes an extra touch on his right foot, ref blows for a foul.

This was unnecessary at 1 nil up.

Yeh it looks fancy but when one of those go wrong it will look really bad.
