Liverpool 2018/19

With Alisson and Fekir in, then on paper they look very strong. Only need a new CB and RB, and a backup for Firminho to have a very strong squad.
As of now they seem more likely to be able to challange for the title than we do... Sadly...

We don't need a RB. I know what you saw from Trent probably didn't look promising but since then he's been excellent and he's really come on leaps and bounds this year bar two performances, one versus you and one versus Palace. If anything RB is one of our positions which we actually have good depth as we have both Clyne and Gomez who can play there as well. I do agree about the CB though but not sure if we will sign one tbh.

Fekir is a Firmino backup. If he comes I'm sure a big chunk of his minutes will be in the Oxlade-Chamberlain role in our midfield but he's probably one of very few players who can play in a similar false 9 style role to Firmino so I do think he'll also be used as a false 9 to help rest Firmino. I think we're more likely to be pushing for a pacey winger to cover Mane/Salah than a striker of any sort. Fekir, Alisson/Oblak and then a pacey winger seem to be our targets apparently according to most reliable LFC Journalists like Joyce. Be a great summer if that's the case.

Rather than spending big on fekir, I think Liverpool would be better of upgrading Solanke and Ings with for example Anderson (Lazio) and Mertens, I wouldn’t want to mess with a front 3 of Salah, Firmino Mane by adding in Fekir
think that lining up like
Salah Fekir Mane
Firmino
Would be an overkill, also probably would have to do a lot of tactical fouling when Liverpool lose possession high up the field like City do.

When Liverpool were 2-1 down Vs Real Madrid they took of Milner for Can (who’s leaving on a free) as they had nothing on the bench who could change it upfront, obviously he didn’t trust Solanke to do anything. By bringing in Anderson & Mertens would give them options from the bench, as I believe the front 6
OX Fabinho Keita
Salah Firmino Mane
Is certainly more than good enough without adding a no10 to the mix
Also I would loan out Solanke to the Championship for a couple of seasons , and keep Ings as a 3rd choice striker

Fekir has played a 1/3 of his career as a centre forward. He's probably one of very few players who can do a version of what Firmino does for us in the false 9 role. I believe he'll be used in midfield as part of our midfield 3 majority of time and then used to rest Bobby as well when we need him to in the false 9 role. He's perfect for the Oxlade-Chamberlain role of picking the ball deep and driving it forward and helping us transition into an attack. He's also pretty decent at tackling and has a good work rate so would be fine in our midfield.

The likelihood is we'll be bringing in another pacey winger as well as Fekir. We keep being linked with Dembele and Pulisic but whether we could get either of those who knows but I'm sure we'll get some pacey winger this summer whoever it may be. That will give us an option of the bench we desperately need as you've said.

I think we may want to loan out Solanke to Gerrard in the Scottish EPL. Standard might not be great but it'll get him used to playing for a side that expects to win every week and start to understand the pressure of bigger games like Celtic vs Rangers for example.
