Liverpool - 2017/18

It was a cup game.

I think you miss read my post. The other guy was saying Liverpool’s transfers were inferior than UTD’s and said the table doesn’t lie. I said the 3 points hardly proves the point.

Hes picked up a thigh strain in training days before his biggest test? Another Liverpool fan was advocating not playing him as it could be too much..

Bottle gone!
Players pick up injuries all the time. Van Dijk is making you irrational.

Lovren against City...yay.

VVD wont be there, would have loved to see the worlds most expensive 75 million pound defender shut out city. Alas, looks like city have all there own way this season. It looks like if they play barcelona, messi will be injured, its that kind of season.

Apparently Klopp doesn't believe he is fit enough for the likes of City yet and is using the "Injury" line to cover it

It's the classic non injury isn't it? Just enough to miss a game but non descript enough to be insignificant.
I’ll remember that next time a United player has a thigh injury before a big game.

I wanted to see him play today. I think there was some joy to be had from set pieces against City, and Van Dijk was looking decent at attacking them against Everton.

Remind me when we break the world record for a defender then keep him out of harms way in arguably his biggest test of price tag..

Funny how Liverpool fans were suggesting he shouldn't play to protect him and now he's mysteriously injured?

What Liverpool fans, where, when? I wanted him to play.

I have a feeling he won't start the ManCity game. He's a very good player, but it will take time for him to settle.
Not only he has to adapt to how we play, others have to adapt to him. He's commanding, and I bet some particular Lovrens, or anybody else, may not like a new guy shouting orders at them after being 2 days in a club.

But I'd like him to start, he'll be unplayable for City in the air and could probably upset them more often than he did with Everton.

@Klopper76

Let’s just agree to disagree, otherwise we’ll be at this all day.

I personally don't think he's injured and Liverpool are protecting him. Some of the rumours seem to confirm this.

If you fall for the convenient thigh strain on the morning of the game so be it!

There's no conspiracy. We brought Ox in and despite him wanting more game time we rested him for four or five matches. Injury wasn't used as an excuse even after the pelters everyone threw at Klopp, even from Liverpool fans. That was a harder transfer to justify than getting a much needed class CB in early.

If Klopp wants to give VvD the same settling in rest period then he doesn't need to justify it to fans or media. We're not winning the league and top four is wide open regardless of what happens today. Personally I'm hoping it's mind games and VvD shows up - but that's just wishful thinking.

It's the kind of mindset which has stopped Klopp being a winner.

Bit of a blow if it turns out like that, our CM is looking bereft of players, never mind top quality talent. However they they also said they wouldn't sell him at any price .. before we offered a price they decided they couldn't turn down.

So Klopp believes, that starting van Dijk is the best chance of winning today.. But, since it is more important for Klopp to protect VvD against the risk of losing, than it is for Liverpool to actually win the match, then he pretends, that VvD is injured?!

Some rumours on twitter that VVD has a bad injury, this could come back to haunt Klopp from his rant on Pogba

'If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney,'

What do they mean VVD won't play?!?!?! My life savings depend on liverpool winning today! :(

VVD being out along with the Keita news has curtailed my enthusiasm for this game.
Gone from thinking we had a decent chance if we went at them to dreading them coming up against a combination of Lovren and Mignolet.

Liverpool had the courage to go toe to toe with City yesterday and outscored them. I give Klopp great credit for his approach, which couldn't have been more different from our cowardly tactics in the derby at Old Trafford. They could be title challengers next season.
