Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Don't worry....I'm the same age as Di Maria with the same body type, except I'm going bald.

Granted, the women think I look about 17 but least I'm skinny :D Who needs muscles?! :nervous:
You're got a friend in me buddy. I say muscles mean extra expenses.

"Ewing Theory: A theory hashed by ESPN.com writer Bill Simmons and his friend Dave Cirilli. It that explains the reason why teams inexplicably become better after their star player leaves the team for any reason (trade, injury, etc.). Two elements must be present for a situation to be explained by the Ewing Theory: 1) The team has a star player who receives a lot of attention but never wins anything, and 2) The star player leaves the team and everybody writes the team off."

Liverpool won the CL with Gerrard, but watching Rodgers' 3-4-3 work well and Ibe, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Coutinho and Sturridge (with Sterling not even out there) looking sickeningly youthful and talented and Gerrard compete with Sakho in a battle for worst footballer on the pitch by a country mile, it was tough not to think about this.

I've been impressed by Can. Could turn out to be a real bargain for the scousers. Can't believe he's only 21.

Same here, he's very strong, has a good close control and passes the ball quite well. And looks like a leader.

Sakho is terrible, isn't he? I am sure they can find someone much better than him with not much trouble.

Knew they were never as bad as they played at start of season. Kudos to Rodgers for turning it around, but still a long way to go.

Do wonder what "Ego-Con" Rodgers is currently at though.

We did, supposedly, Lovren - but that is another story....Sakho is hit and miss, he can be clumsy with poor distribution and he can also be strong, quick and good in the tackle. Jury is still out to be fair.

Sakho is horrendous. Any time he gets the ball he shits himself under the slightest bit of pressure from opposing players.

Sakho appears to be a bit Marmite right now, but what cannot be disputed is that his regular inclusion has helped sure up a very leaky defence. He operates very effectively in the back 3 and commands strikers. His mistakes come with poor decision making but it's exaggerated by some.

He's a good defender. I think people underrate him because his playing style is ungainly.

He's not rated highly because he's a disaster. The ball goes anywhere near him and its laughable.

This. Id rather have him in the team than out of it that's for sure, even if he does give you a heart attack every now and again. I think he gets into tight spots every now and again is down to our reluctance to hoof the ball when nothing is on, a bit more decisiveness there and he'd be fine.

Genuinely, people just see what they want to see. He has had a great couple of months. If he is so bad why have Liverpool virtually shut up shop since he got into the team regularly? There is a correlation.

Agreed, he's still fairly young and has time to mature as well.

Slightly worrying how good both teams looked last night.

Sakho reminds me of Lescott in that he looks petrified when he has the ball but in general he is actually decent enough on the ball and usually composed. Although I do remember in Liverpool's 3-2 win at Anfield last season there was a period of about 10 minutes where Sakho just constantly misplaced his passes to the point where it was just ridiculous. Reminded me of Savic at City, coincidentally also at Anfield, in the League Cup semi-final where he everything he did found a Liverpool player.

Meh, Sakho is ok, he has plenty of mistakes in him and looks as awkward as they come but he's been decent enough the past few months. Wouldn't want him at United though and that's saying something, considering our defensive options.

Yeah, he's had a few moments like that when the cameras are on. And so, whenever he makes an awkward looking pass, which is always, they think he is shitting himself. When in reality, the passes he picks are generally quite good.

He's unnerving to watch, and when he does cock up it is usually in a dangerous spot, but overall I am happy enough with him on the ball and delighted with him defensively. Easy first choice in defence. Snuffs out danger early, makes recoveries others aren't capable of, commits very few fouls and cleans up mess for others as well.

Wasn't great vs spurs mind you.

Brendan Rodgers flew out to Italy straight after the final whistle to watch a game in Europe today – Tony Barrett, The Times

If Gerrard is out, then Can would have to play some midfield minutes you would assume. Big chance for Lovren to rectify his Liverpool career then. Unless Johnson gets the nod ahead of him.

Emre Can should change his name to Emre Does

Gerrard out for three weeks.

He was a liability against Spurs. Lucas being competent defensively or Can mostly doing good things are more useful there at this point, though I guess Can is needed at RCB.

Good performance and great to get through to the next round. Thought Can and Skrtel both had their worst games in a while, but both improved as the match wore on. Allen, Mignolet and Henderson were our best players I thought. Henderson has his tenth(!) assist of the season. Balotelli performed well too when he came on. The referee was shocking.

Almost completely agree though for MoM I'd go 1. Ming 2. Allen 3. Lallana or Sakho

I'd like a home draw against United or Arse please in the quarters !

Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool FT: Shots(OT) 10(4) - 22(7), Possession 34% - 66%

Liverpool have scored 5 goals in the 94 mins that Sturridge and Balotelli have been on the pitch together.

For all the stick Rodgers gets on here, he really has done a great job with that Liverpool side in the last few months. The change in formation has worked wonders, similar to the 3-5-2 we all hated at the start of the season, 3-4-3 has made them very hard to beat and allows Rodgers to fit his best attacking players into the same side. Very effective for them at the moment, and the likes of Can and Markovich are really starting to perform now. With Sturridge back, they barely even seem to miss Sterling (maybe Brenton is making a point, if you don't want to sign, we can carry on without you).

Obviously I hate Liverpool, but fair play to them.
