Listen to 1000 albums.

Having a bit of a trip down memory lane tonight, back to my college days and an album I pretty much had on a loop during that time, Soundgarden - Superunknown.

It's funny how you sometimes forget how great an album is, I hadn't listened to this one for literally years, sounds just as good as I remember it did back then so I thought I'd share it with you guys, although I'm sure most of you know it already but feck it.

I got really, really high one night when this had come out and after being escorted home by my roommate (whogo a glass of water and went to bed and tripped out listening to "half" as I couldn't decide whether the vocals were really high pitched or the guitars were talking to me (I had the speakers on either side of the bed). I quickly told myself "never again" only to last about 7 hours before skinning up and playing EA Sports NHL '95.

Superunknown, great record.

Spoonman always makes me think of Spoony, too.

Hehe, speaking of getting high, continuing my memory trip with a bit of Cypress Hill - Black Sunday now, sadly sober as a judge :(

Yep, know it already. Always preferred their last album Down On The Upside to this one though.

Superunknown will always be the one for me, the album that got me into them in the first place and a trip right back to my glorious college years.

badmotorfinger and Louder than Love are two great records but Ultramega OK will always be my favourite. I almost stopped listening to them after Superunknown.

Can I post this in here? :nervous:

Top album but I prefer Badmotorfinger. Great band though, looking forward to hearing their new stuff when they can be arsed to release it

Here's another pioneering album from the 1970s that may appeal to some of you electro-bonces.

Suicide - Suicide

Suicide - Suicide - Spotify

This was recorded in 1977. Two guys, one on vocals, one on an organ with some fx pedals and a drum machine he claims was actually a modified bowling pin setter. The original tracks are the first 10, the rest is bonus material so feel free to skip it. MIA used a loop of Ghost Rider from this album on a recent single. Don't fall asleep listening to Frankie Teardrop.

Did really rate that Suicide album - it was still interesting and I can see that it was probably ground breaking at the time but I found it difficult to get into and quite samey

Burndogg killed it ;)

I was meaning to bump it at some point but got too involved with the World Cup !

So did you have fun going down memory lane with Sona Fariq?

I haven't had much time to listen to anything recently because I've moved house and all my shit is all over the place. I will try and squeeze it into my hectic schedule this weekend

I don't like Crystal Castles.

Still Corners are one of the very few things I've enjoyed when trawling through various 2010 lists.* At times they might sound a bit like a shoegaze version of Best Coast (not really).

Their best song is Endless Summer, but the closest they came to releasing an album was Remember Pepper?. It's not on Spotify, but can be heard by following the picture link.

Best track: History of Love

*Endless Summer was released in 2010. Remember Pepper in 2008.

Suggestion to improve the thread: Few have the time to listen through all the albums posted, or even many of them. It's a good idea to post YT-links to a song or two from the album. This gives us an impression, and we can decide to shun away from the album or give it a go. I know many have done this from time to time, I suggest we do it all the time.

Alright chaps.

Welcome to the thread, but that's a pretty poor start! Check the thread first. And you should link to somewhere the album can be listened to.

Shit. In fairness I checked the list in the OP and didn't see the album. And I did link to Last FM.

The OP is probably quite outdated. Use the search thread function. Link to Spotify (even if I don't have permission at the moment, I've changed countries too many times, feck off), mediafire or something, last.fm usually don't have full songs/albums. If it's a bit obscure it's a good idea to link to your favourite one or two songs on youtube. That gives the rest of us an opportunity to have a listen before deciding to bother with the whole album or not. There's not a lot of rules, but I suppose it's a common thing to include the album cover. (But you did that, so you know.)

Am I allowed to post or does Sally Cinnamon want to change their pick? If so, I can post this another day, but here goes...

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes

Release Date: April 1983
Genre: Alternative Rock
Run Time: 43:21

Track Listing (Favourite tracks highlighted):

Blister in the Sun – 2:25
Kiss Off – 2:56
Please Do Not Go – 4:15
Add It Up – 4:44
Confessions – 5:32
Prove My Love – 2:39
Promise – 2:49
To the Kill – 4:01
Gone Daddy Gone – 3:06
Good Feeling – 3:52

I've got to admit that I first listened to this album through "Good Feeling" being played on an episode of How I Met Your Mother. Then I noticed that I knew "Blister in the Sun" from Grosse Pointe Blank and that "Gone Daddy Gone" is the same song Gnarls Barkley did, which I hadn't realised was a cover. Good album this one, so listen.

No problem.

Easy V beat me by a minute so I'll go some other time.
