So what?Only the greatest player in history
So what?Only the greatest player in history
For example, this right here:
You do realise your supporting a player that’s dragged your club through the mud whilst your at your lowest, not to mention he wants to jump ship and play for a team nobody in Spain would have known existed 10 years ago.
Strange.
I wonder, has there ever been a reliable source of him running anything or influencing a decision by the club?
For those sneering why doesnt he take them to court, how long would that actually drag on for?
And what is fake about that? He’s contractually tied to Barcelona. That’s a fact. But who needs facts when you’ve got emotional fanboyism to cling on to hey
That is not a fact. It was a fact if there was a court judgement. As of now, this is open to interpretation and by the very definition not a fact.
Only the greatest player in history
Quit being ignorant and take one persons point of view as fact? Ok.because he kept trying to make a meeting with the board for an exit and they kept ghosting him. Finally when he had No other option he sent in the fax. Quit being ignorant and watch the interview. Wake up
But he’s wrong. If he had a right to leave for free he would’ve left for free. He hasn’t. Those are the only facts here. Not what you think could happen if he went to court. You are criticising a player for activating a clause in their contract because 'they have no legal right' to.
It is a subjective view that he has no legal right. You are wrong that it is a fact and your murder analogy is hilarious.
He is not attempting to enforce a right that he believes he has, not attempting to get away with a crime he's committed.
After giving up on Argentina, he now wants to give up on Barcelona after a few drubbings?
Not the best mentality.
No he isn't. He's not even the best Argentinian player ever. I dare him to win something with a small club like Napoli (during the Serie A golden age) or the WC with a less then perfect Argentina.

That’s not how contracts work
That doesn't give him the right to dictate how a club is run. He doesn't own the club and definitely shouldn't try to control Barcelona.
So what?
no player in this generation that is a top 5 player has won something major with a small team.
And that Argentina team was damn good, not a one man show dragged by maradonna.

Diego might have been the greatest for a short period of time, but Leo's done for 15 years.
And Napoli had a decent team at the time - Careca, Ferrara, De Napoli, Alemao, Crippa, Carnevale etc. It wasn't like Diego + 10 others. And the WC is a weak argument in assigning greatness.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's in cahoots with the next president to cause this circus. Probably promised a seat on the board by the future president and who knows a future shot at being the head.
Messi has said himself that Bartomeu told him that he could decide himself if he wanted to stay or leave at the end of the season and when Messi said he wanted to leave Bartomeu backtracked and said he couldn't (or pay €700m to release himself) Why would Messi lie about this? To me it sounds like a gentlemans agreement was reached and Bartomeu screwed him over big time. But he’s wrong. If he had a right to leave for free he would’ve left for free. He hasn’t. Those are the only facts here. Not what you think could happen if he went to court.
Yes, he's trying to do all that, and worse trying to change the president voted in by the members. My bone is he should concentrate on playing and leave the politics to those voted in to run the club. If the board are incompetent members will have a chance to oust him at the next elections. I'm not sure why that is so difficult to understand. What are you talking about? Like honestly - running the club how? Is he picking the managers? The players coming in, going out? The tactics? What exactly is your bone here.
Diego had his demons and his share of injuries as well. However he was by far the superior player. Regarding Napoli just ask any of them if they had a chance in hell of winning the Serie A title without him. He was everything for Napoli. FFS there are still shrines of the guy at the city. He's a saint there.
Typical whataboutism, buddy. So anytime neymar or Ronaldo change teams it’s a poor mentality?
That is why Maradona was the best player the world have ever seen. A guy who won the lot with a smallish side despite facing some of the toughest and meanest defences in football history at a time when defenders could kick forwards arses into submission.
Regarding the 1986 world cup, Maradona was Argentina's top scorer with 5 goals and produced the most assists (5 assists). His goals included 2 against England in the quarter finals and another 2 goals in the semi finals against Belgium. So yes Maradona did drag Argentina to success.
It's so easy winning trophies with Iniesta, Xavi and co. It far more difficult to do that with a less perfect squad.
I know all about Diego - you're not saying anything I don't already know. Far superior player is not true. Diego had more charisma, he could carry a team with his force of personality but also had a destructive side that could leave the team in the shit. During his last years, he never showed up for training and he was essentially partying with Camorra and doing coke and prostitutes from Sunday night until Thursday morning and Ferlaino could do sweet f-all to him. And the impact on the squad was detrimental. He had an amazing 85-87 and then was running on fumes. By the way he asked Ferlaino several times to be sold publicly which is something you're admonishing Leo for
He may very well be telling the truth about that. But that’s not what is in his contract. If it was, he wouldn’t be there anymore.Messi has said himself that Bartomeu told him that he could decide himself if he wanted to stay or leave at the end of the season and when Messi said he wanted to leave Bartomeu backtracked and said he couldn't (or pay €700m to release himself) Why would Messi lie about this? To me it sounds like a gentlemans agreement was reached and Bartomeu screwed him over big time.
In his interview Messi also said he would never take the club to court because they have given him everything which doesn't sound too far fetched.

If anyone likes football they would never dislike Messi. I have all the respect for him as a player and very few would question him being one of the greatest of his generation, possibly ever to grace a football pitch. This is a debate about his behaviour beyond football. At least that's my stand.I never realised how much people disliked Messi until I read this thread.
He was still a far better player who could dragged teams to success. He's not a bottler either
Obviously it is in this case since there are contradicting parts in the contract caused by Corona. The season didn't end at June 10. So the next piece of misinformation you put out there.
But he’s wrong. If he had a right to leave for free he would’ve left for free. He hasn’t. Those are the only facts here. Not what you think could happen if he went to court.
Because he left it until after the clause lapsed.or the circumstances meant it was no longer to his advantage to pursue the clause.
This would never stand up in court.Messi has said himself that Bartomeu told him that he could decide himself if he wanted to stay or leave at the end of the season and when Messi said he wanted to leave Bartomeu backtracked and said he couldn't (or pay €700m to release himself) Why would Messi lie about this?
