That is not a fact. It was a fact if there was a court judgement. As of now, this is open to interpretation and by the very definition not a fact.
No player can be held against his will. He could have easily walked had he wanted to move to another club. There is more to this than simply Messi being against the board and Barca not winning. He should know more than most no team dominates forever. Team success is cyclical.

Diego might have been the greatest for a short period of time, but Leo's done for 15 years.
And Napoli had a decent team at the time - Careca, Ferrara, De Napoli, Alemao, Crippa, Carnevale etc. It wasn't like Diego + 10 others. And the WC is a weak argument in assigning greatness.

that 1986 squad was good and not just maradonna. Club football is played at a higher level than ever before these past 15-20 years. Maradonna’s longevity wasn’t nearly as strong as Messi’s. He was obviously an all time great, but Messi has far more records than maradonna and his Argentina squad was way more flawed. Without Messi Argentina wouldn’t even qualify for the WC. Argentina didn’t even need maradonna back when they won it 78. It was a good generation.

If anyone likes football they would never dislike Messi. I have all the respect for him as a player and very few would question him being one of the greatest of his generation, possibly ever to grace a football pitch. This is a debate about his behaviour beyond football. At least that's my stand.
