Lionel Messi

to me, this is the best Messi or at least the one I like most. not as fast and explosive as he was couple of years ago and he certainly won't score 45 or 50 in league ever again, but he is more complete and mature than he ever was and literally carries the whole club on his back. it's easy to pick treble seasons as his best for obvious reasons, but he also had better platform and teammates in those days so you could easily miss the things you can see now when he's older. no more Xavi and Iniesta, no more MSN, just him. no other club is so dependable on one player as Barca is today.

So he scored a brace today. Does firing your team to the title mean nothing these days or is it only the cl that matters?

Come on Shamana, apparently goals against Espanyol or a hatrick vs Betis means nothing these days. Get with the times!

He makes a mockery of 99.9% of other humans who have attempted, or are still attempting, to play this sport.

That goalkeeper can't be serious. he would not be slower if he bet some money on Messi scoring a free kick.

Won't score 45 in the league again. Are you sure?

Its not about La Liga or CL, he has to win Serie A golden boot ahead of 52 year old Quagliarella to be the Goat.

well, there are only 9 games to play and he's likely to miss at least two, while being 14 goals short. not impossible, but no, he won't do it this season.

Having mixed feeling with regards to Messi.
On one hand I'm worried to see what he'll likely do to our team but on the other hand seeing Messi at Old Trafford (again) will be pretty special in itself.

Several too few 9s after the dot, he's definitely more than 'one player in thousand' ^^ [/smartass]

It's even more absurd in the realisation that Messi is still operating at peak Messi scoring numbers despite having the obvious disadvantage of playing deeper in the field than he did between 2008-2012. If any other forward operates deeper in this manner it's very likely that their goal-scoring stats will decrease accordingly.

Tbf Messi playing deeper doesn't mean he always stays deeper. Barca spend so much time in opponents half that he will end up playing close to the box.

Still unreal numbers though. We saw dribbler who took on opponents with ease, now we are watching prime playmaking Messi.

Granted, that much is true, although, in the event of counter-attacks he's more positioned to initiate them with numbers in front of him, rather than in previous years where he was on the receiving end of them from balls via Xavi, Iniesta and co.

Messi now has to release the ball forward to Suarez and Dembele, and then catch up with them in order to finish moves off. Back then he was always in and around the area as part of the natural flow of the counter, and that to me is what makes his goal contribution so impressive.

He really has an incredible timing when to go / push forward for the finish. I've never seen a player whose brain & skills allow him so many different attacking options.

Jones is going to own Messi. At least if he doesn't we are getting his funny faces.

I've googled Capri maximus and I still don't know what it is.

Heard rumours that he's been carrying a slight knock but he's still scoring/assisting as usual. Sometimes think our only hope of progressing is that he's either injured or has a massive off day.

I pray to Messi and ask him to score. He answers and scored. I pray to God and nothing happens. So who's really God?:D
