I don't think he has the ballon d'or in mind though. I think he just desperately wants to deliver Argentina a World Cup.

Would love to see him captain Argentina to a WC win and seal his place as probably the best of all time once and for all. What Maradonna done in 86 was an unbelievable achievement i think Messi will have to do the same as the Argentina team is not great and he will have to play his socks off if they have any chance of winning.

I haven't really been following the case but he's only a crook* if you believe a 17 year old Messi sat down and completed his own tax returns. His accountant had a mare with some dodgy scheme. He's far from the first Spain based player to suffer, Eto'o and Casillas are probably the two other highest profile cases recently.

* if you're talking morally. Legally he probably bears the responsibility for the accuracy of any information he submitted.
 
yet to see what the evidence is. I find it hard to believe a teenager actually cares or knows enough to coerce a money laundering scheme at the age of 17-19. The sum that is skirted is only 4m either way and didn't messi just pay back 70m straight to the government as a fine for his taxes being unaccounted for?

I've always thought he was kind of ignorant to anything going on with his taxes. People with his wealth don't typically deal with their own taxes.
 
I wonder why Iker Casillas, Xabi Alonso, Rafael Nadal tax issues never got so much popularity.

It's called politics in Spain. The prosecutor & defense both agreed that Leo had nothing to do with any of his father's or financial team's doings yet the judge overruled them and proceeded to target the player. Agenda.
