I thought Iniesta had a really good tournament. Doesn't deserve the award of course because of injuries, season before he was far better, don't know how he finished behind Kaka.

You're mistaken. He had 3 MOM performances and scored the goal that won the tournament. That's pretty good going.

didn't ronaldo have 3 mom performances including vs brazil?

yet most people say he was gash, but anyway Iniesta had a very good tournament imo, but only played 90 mins 7 times for barca, his season was too disrupted by injury to even feature in the final 3

kaka was nominated for no reason at all that year

i can't think of a single one why he finished fourth, a part of me is glad the overhyping of the brazilian is over, let him earn his reputation

Busquets and Alonso were the most impressive Spanish players in the World Cup.

Betis made a game of it for the first half - could have gone in evens at halftime - better than a lot of Liga teams manage.

Bit hard on Betis, they're in big financial trouble and were hoping for a full house for the return leg. They even asked Barca if they could play their home leg first. Now Barca can play the reserves for it.

messi is imo the greatest player of all time in one of the greatest teams ever, i cant watch enough barca games.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

and this is whats wrong with the world. feck I wish people would get some perspective. If he was doing this 8 years ago then he may lay claim to it. La Liga was a bit more competitive with teams other then Real and Barca fielding title winning sides. Instead he and Ronaldo play against 2nd rate opposition score shit loads of goals get herald as the worlds best then fail when they're given some top quality opposition to play against outside of Spain. Zidane and Ronaldinho in their primes piss all over these two in terms of impact in big games.

They may be the two best players in the world right now, but thats not much brag about in footballs current climate especially in Spain.

he tore arsenal to shreads in the cl, scored in the cl final against us.
also without scoring ripped madrid a new one in the biggest derby in the world

Out of interest can you list these big games on favour of Ronaldinho, I want to discern how he pisses all over Messi

No way he does. I think they're about even already in terms of productivity with Messi threatening to keep the level a while longer than Ronaldinho.

Ronaldo 'Madrid' v Barcelona isn't exactly a spectacle. It's like Spain v Portugal in the world except with Messi instead of Alonso. Credit to his CL final goal, but he's done feck all in the semi's of the CL over the past 3 years. I'd take a couple of players at their best from the last decade over he and Ronaldo. They're supremely good but not the best there's ever been. feck i'd take 06/07 Ronaldo and Xavi over either of them now. Far more to football then just goals. You see you can score goals but still lose games...

ya but if you dont score you cant win.

maybe im being a bit hasty saying hes the best ever after all he is only 23, but surely youd agree he is on the path to becoming the best?

You would take a 06/07 Ronaldo over this Lionel Messi? I find that bizaare but each to his own. Messi isn't just about goals, that's pretty much a bonus to his game, he's a playmaker (probably Barca's top assister over the last few seasons) and argubally one of the best dribbler ever.

he's a video of Messi just dribbling, as much as I rate Cristiano he doesn't come close imo

Scored a Roy Keane hat trick v England

Anyone that knocks England out of the world cup is fine by me

I can think of several games off the top of my head against Madrid and, Chelsea and co when things were far more competitive, but its alot harder to go back and find games where he didn't score but made a massive impact.

But hey show me where Messi is better then either Zidane, Fat Ronaldo, Xavi or Ronaldinho?

When things were compettitive as you put it, Messi was the stand out performer when Barca went to Stamford bridge in 2006 at 18, he scored a hatrick against Madrid the following year

I still don't see how he pisses all over Messi in big games, but I'll need help

Of course at 23 he can become the best, but he will never be the best if he can't deliver for Argentina and win the world cup. Exactly the same as Ronaldo for Portugal. For me, the best delivers anywhere anytime when they're called upon. They don't go in their shell and lack impact or just blast it at long range trying to score a wonder goal and bring their team back into it. And hey, its not like either are playing for Northern Ireland like Best. They have quality players around them in their national teams. I find it sad that both have almost seemingly peaked on the international stage before they'd fully developed as players. I hope they change that but i'm not holding my breath.

You kinda get the feeling that when Messi ghosted past Scholes in 2008 it was one of those moments. One of those moments like when John O'Shea nutmegged Luis Figo.:lol::lol:

really, our team was really poor imo, couldn't even get a goal when Ronaldinho had been sent off, anyway, I had bigger games in mind :/

It was in the World Cup though, you know the tournament that Messi didn't really do much in this summer sans his Barcelona teammates.

Yet he's been poor against us in 07/08 semi, v Chelsea in 08/09 semi and v Inter in 09/10 semi.

Don't get me wrong, he's a brilliant player and one of the best in the world right but I guess i'm more irked at him being touted as the best of all time and the bullshit Ballon this year....
