Messi showing himself to be a bit of a dick tbh.

Knowing how fecked Barca are he still demands that weekly fee - as a one club guy that pretends to love Barca he could easily forgo his wage for 1 year. The guy is worth over €600 million - he'd still get his ludicrus endorsement deals.

How much money can one man need?
Angry Messi fans on you in 3...2...1

I think it’s quite clear for a while Messi is only out for Messi..

It's a very South American thing in some ways. Money and lot's of it is all that matters.

Remember he is Jesus next to Maradona as God.

“Feasible financially” It’s the fecking pretence this lot and City go through to pretend they’re playing by the same rules as everyone else that really pisses me off.
World's independence of fossil fuels can't come soon enough.

Innit  oh we paid 40 mil for Grealish. Get in the bin Pep.

This business with Barcelona's finances has really f-ed Messi up:
  • He has lost out on at least a month's wages since Barca are not obliged to pay him.
  • If Barca would have made this decision a month earlier, City (as confirmed by Pep today) would have been in the mix with PSG. Messi could have negotiated a better salary. Now PSG has all the cards.
  • Shifting base during a pandemic - immigration rules, housing, schooling, etc. - is a huge hassle. Especially with the league about to start in 2 weeks.
  • Lack of match practice with new team mates. Pochettino will be under pressure to start Messi and make it work almost immediately.
  • Barca have done such an ordinary job with his tribute video - bad music and an eye-pain causing video. Madrid did a better job in this regard.
If I was Messi - I would rage-join Madrid to get back at Barca. C'mon Messi - have some self respect!
Oh yeah, poor billionaire really fecked up. State of this post.

PSG just booked the Eiffel Tower on 10. January.

PSG want Messi represented infront of the Eiffel Tower

Let's hope PSG signs Pogba this summer to make best use of Messi's time there.

Just like you have the right to maximize your earnings, surely Messi has the same right too. He is paid what the market believes he is worth.

Oh he has the right to chase money everywhere he can get it, for sure. He also has the right to consider he has enough for him, his family and 23 generations and to think that it's more important to be forever seen as the player who never left Barcelona and decided he'd help the club that allowed him to be the player he was meant to be by cutting his salary to stay there when times were hard. He chose the 1st option, duly noted.

It's like when you're at an auction and you bid 5 dollars for something you know is worth 100 just to be a part of it

Such a coward, going to one team league, to the strongest club and all for money. Straight out of Cristiano playbook.

This is not a standard used to judge a great player - Maradona, Ronaldo, other Ronaldo, Cruyff, Platini, Zidane, Henry, Zlatan, etc.

This is absolute trash. As a former youth player (at a small club) who never made it to more than a youth team, I can't tell you the number of times kids aged 12-14 have come out crying when they have been told that they are no longer part of the team. Where is the club loyalty then?
Barca invested in Messi because he was talented, disciplined and performed ... it was not out of charity ... He owes them nothing!
A club "made" the player is absolutely BS. Club is not a charity and player doesn't work for free either. Messi terrorised Mourinho's Chelsea when he was only 18 yr old. He progressed to Barca 1st team after joined them for 4 years.

Not even remotely comparable, they changed club multiple times before that, none of them is a one club player. Messi was 2 years away from a near perfect legacy. On top of that, the amount of money they made wasn't as obscene as Messi.

It's not only the club as an institution, it's the fans, the legacy you leave behind, Messi cares more about money that he cares about being "Messi of Barcelona". He has the right to do so, but it speaks to his character, that's it. He's just like the rest of them.

I realize with that squad PSG will be even bigger favourite to win the one competition their club owner truly cares about but I have trouble believing these star players are looking forward to playing week in week out in a French league.

I honestly wouldn't even care if Messi came to City or United, because I'd get to see him playing in the PL and the fan in me would just enjoy watching him compete in the best club competition even if it meant he was playing against my team.

What's the challenge or vaule of winning Ligue 1 where your team costs ten times more than your closest rivals? I know money is important but if you had to leave Barca, wouldn't you want to test yourself against the best in the most competitive league? Or maybe I'm just being naive.

No chance in hell of that happening. The only side that can afford him apart from PSG is City and Pep confirmed they're not signing him. The article is just a clickbait.

You could definitely afford it.

Creative accounting from Roman.

Can also definitely see you getting him. More likely than City IMO.

PSG looks a done deal?

After Barcelona, Maradona went to Napoli and helped the underdogs beat the rich clubs of Northern Italy...

After Barcelona, Messi will join one of the richest clubs in football history...

He could do that, but what would the effect on team morale be when he's still scoring and assisting all over the place and the rest aren't, but still earning hundreds of thousands a week? What about the reaction of the fans? They'd probably turn on those players pretty quickly.

I agree with you though...I'd forgo my wages for a season if I were in his shoes.

Done deal according to a few French sources, his father reached an agreement with PSG earlier today apparently

Might as well start carving their name onto the CL trophy as we speak

Would love Juve to knock out the plastic cvnts sometime this season in the CL and Ronaldo to smash the winning goal deflected off Messi’s wallet
