The old finished third argument. The rule was not changed on the spot to qualify Portugal, it was made clear prior to the tournament. Do you realize that teams would play differently if only the top 2 qualified? This absurd logic of "Portugal would have been eliminated if not for this rule change" is hilarious.
I do not get what you are trying to say with the rest of the results you posted. I can understand claiming penalty shots to not be a "real victory" (I agree with this), but trying to claim extra time isn't? Please explain why an extra time win is not a "real victory"?
Also, saying only Croatia and France were good teams just proves that you are a hater with an agenda. I will leave you with a summary of Portugal's euro and Argentina's Copa:
- Group Stage: It was a pretty weak group, but still more difficult than a Copa America group, which involves a "bye" to the quarter finals for 4 of the 5 teams not named Bolivia.
- Croatia: Topped a group that included Spain and were seen as one of the tournament favorites at the time. Even went on to be world cup finalists in the next competition
- Poland: 2 wins and a draw against Germany in the group stage. They were a good team in 2016, not sure why you make them out to be Bolivia. Portugal won in penalties so if you want to discredit this win feel free too.
- Wales: Solid defence, with Bale and Ramsay in fantastic form. Topped a group that included England and then went on to decisively beat a stacked Belgium team.
- France: pre tournament favorites and the most "stacked team" at the euros WITH home advantage
Argentina's Copa America:
- Group stage: Pointless matches. You automatically qualify since you have Bolivia in your group. Like I stated in my original post, you start this tournament as a quarter finalist.
- Ecuador: They went 0W-3D-1L in the group stage, unable to even defeat Venezuela. They have had good teams in the past, but this year was definitely not one of them.
- Colombia: Definitely better than Ecuador, I found them to be quite a solid team in this tournament. Luis Diaz was playing out of his mind, and they even gave Brazil a relatively close game. Argentina won this in penalty shots, so I guess you would classify this as a "fake" win?
- Brazil: Great win against a very good team in their stadium. However, like Ronaldo, Messi did nothing in his teams continental cups final.
