How costly was this decision? A poor Martial would be our best attacker in plenty of games. He can actually play as a striker as well.

I hope ETH can convince him to stay. We need the attacking depth.

He was dead set on leaving and thought the grass would be greener which it hasn’t been.

Nah, he is just like Rashford, cant be arsed. For other reasons, but their body language is the same.

I mean he hardly is pulling up any trees at Sevilla, and you start this thread.

I needed a chuckle after that performance. Cheers mate.

many reasons that costs us CL football - greenwood/lack of winter signings/not buying a cm in the summer

and yes, I don't care one bit about martial, wank attitude of a footballer

Obviously we wouldn’t have sent him out if the Greenwood stuff came out a week or two earlier. Greenwood being a thundercnut is what has cost us.

I would say it's another player who cost us that...

A lot of things that happened this season will probably cost us the CL. I don’t think the Martial loan is one of the huge factors tbh.

Mason Greenwood’s indiscretions are a far bigger factor.

He couldn't be arsed, he was playing shit and wanted to go. So he went, and continued not being arsed and playing shit. We're missing out on so much.

Martial along with the likes of Rashford need to permanently be booted out of the club. Average footballers with crap attitude.

This is a terrible take. A player that was awful before being sent on loan where he's been poor could have had us back in top four? Have a word with yourself mate.

Being shit all year has cost us champions league football

Depending on Martial to save your season is only fractionally better than not having Martial to save your season.

In a context where a lot of our players look indifferent, I struggle to believe Anthony Martial of all people would buck the trend. If he was here he'd just be another part of the malaise rather than making that significant difference.

Bonkers thread.
Woeful season last year, and could barely get near the action this season when we've been doing poorly.

He played 8 games with Sevilla and scored 1 goal, but we would have missed him sure.

Nope. The Greenwood thing ruined us. We were just on the back of the last minute West Ham win with some decent performances... We've won 3 of the next 11 games since.

Not sure if you are joking or not but judging by the length of the comment you really mean it. The I can only comment back: "Wow".

People are really desperate..

Martial is fecking shit and would have made absolutely zero difference if he was still here.

He's already been worked out in Spain and is getting booed for his lazy half arsed displays.

Yeh he's lighting it up in Spain...

Greenwood issue and Cavanis injuries are a far bigger factor.

Weird take.

Martial can't even help Sevilla when he should be motivated. It seems farfetched to assume he wouldn't be as useless here.

Martial going has cost us the CL? What about all the other league games we dropped points in before Martial left, or do they not count?

Martial was one of the laziest players this club has seen, him leaving was the right decision, he offered nothing when he was on the pitch this season.

Rashford,Martial and Greenwood. 60+ goals between the three of them just 2 seasons ago. Now Id have no hesitation in saying thay all three are a total write off.

Relax, people! OP is definitely being sarcastic. If not then I'm out of words to say.

He wanted to leave. He is not exactly tearing la Liga. He was awful for almost a year.
How come he could have saved our season?

That's recency bias for you.

People said the same thing after Lukaku was sold, forgetting how bad he was for us every week.

If he'd stayed he'd have cost us EL football.

No. The assembly of this frankenstein rudderless squad by our previous manager and the club has cost us CL.

Yeah this team is definitely missing a player who puts in zero effort 99% of time...
