Why? Leverkusen are fed up with giving him chances and want to get rid, is that really the standard you want to go for for United?Bring back Kovar

I was just thinking about what former back-up keepers we’ve had that would have been an improvement. Kuszczak and Lindegaard weren’t this bad, and Romero was actually pretty good.I remember growing up whinging about the likes of Roy Carroll in net. Jesus christ, I'd take half a Carroll at this point.
Romero would be our number 1, but Carroll, PIG and Lindegaard weren’t better than OnanaI was just thinking about what former back-up keepers we’ve had that would have been an improvement. Kuszczak and Lindegaard weren’t this bad, and Romero was actually pretty good.
Kusczack and Lindegaard would both be big improvements. Always had a soft spot for PIG.I was just thinking about what former back-up keepers we’ve had that would have been an improvement. Kuszczak and Lindegaard weren’t this bad, and Romero was actually pretty good.

Honestly they are. He’s so bad. He would t be no 1 at another PL club.Romero would be our number 1, but Carroll, PIG and Lindegaard weren’t better than Onana
I haven’t followed Bundesliga/Leverkusen at all this or previous season; has Kovar been underwhelming/poor/onana?Why? Leverkusen are fed up with giving him chances and want to get rid, is that really the standard you want to go for for United?
Apparently he fecked up big in one of the few games he has played.I haven’t followed Bundesliga/Leverkusen at all this or previous season; has Kovar been underwhelming/poor/onana?
I have watched quite a few full games and he is very good outside of the highlight reel stuff and pretty comfortable on the ball. I am nowhere near qualified to say if he can get to the elite level that another former Roma keeper managed with the dippers but he is comfortably better than anyone we currently have. Some nice saves. However, you can’t judge a keeper on their highlights. I reckon we could even put together a highlight reel for Calamity Onana.
He looks athletic and commanding, which is what we should have in a keeper.

Completely shat the bed vs Bayern in the CL last 16 and has from whatI've seen been generally shaky.Apparently he fecked up big in one of the few games he has played.
Yes. Probably not as bad as Onana, but he made some mistakes and generally didn't inspire confidence. Lukas Hradecky still is a far more reliable keeper and he was always seen as a bit error prone. That was fine last season but the expectation was that Kovar should surpass and then completely replace Hradecky. He simply didn't develop as hoped.I haven’t followed Bundesliga/Leverkusen at all this or previous season; has Kovar been underwhelming/poor/onana?
Yeah Santos is the one. Looks destined to be a world class keeper.Yes. Probably not as bad as Onana, but he made some mistakes and generally didn't inspire confidence. If you look at young keepers in the Bundesliga to sign, Freiburg's Atubolu or Frankfurt's Santos should be far better options. Especially the latter who I believe has the potential to become Brazil's next great keeper.
I just watched the EL/ECL conference, not a single match, and watching Santos keeping Frankfurt in the match and giving the team confidence while at the same time watching Onana hurts.
Absolutely. If we need to plug gaps in defence / midfield, promote some youngsters or be smart with a free transfer / loan if needed. Whatever it takes to improve as much as possible at either end of the pitch. There was people on YouTube saying that because of PSR that goalkeeper is not an issue.
GK and ST is most important.
I can live with out attacking midfielders and wingbacks but I can't live without a good GK and a good striker
Atubolu looks promising if not obviously top class. We're in the fortunate position I suppose, in that there are literally dozens of keepers out there who'd improve us massively.Yes. Doubt it. We reward mediocrity and poor performances at this club. That’s surely the end of his career here
He only has 1 year left on his contract as well. No doubt UEFA would be sticking their oar in about fair value but he would be pretty cheap given his contract situation. No to young Trafford, despite the name synergy. Burnley's defensive record is insane this year which I think makes it very hard to judge him. What we can say is that he was dreadful in the PL last year.
Chevalier would be the best pick I think, but likely too expensive and we could face big club competition.
IF we're allowed to deal with Nice this year (I'm not sure where we stand on that, given we're likely to miss out on Europe?), I'd like to see us look at Marcin Bulka. Guys massive, strong shot stopper, aerial presence and is a brilliant penalty stopper. He's still young and I'm sure given he's at Nice we could work out a sensible deal.

Yes, I also think Atubolu needs to mature and become more reliable. But I think he can turn into a great keeper, but it's just nut guaranteed. Similar situation to Kovar a year ago in a way. Could have also mentioned Urbig, but as he now looks like the heir to Neuer he just is off the market.Damn, I was going to mention Kuai Santos but you beat me
Not on the basis of today though, I remember he played a few games last year and looked really good, though that was followed by an absolute howler performance against Mainz, after which he went out for a while before returning recently.
He does look really raw and talented right now. Surprised to see a couple of people mention him because he doesn't seem to be talked about a lot.
Agree on Kovar, doesn't look like the quality United need right now but also don't think very highly of Atubolu as well. Might not make howlers but just seems to concede goals he should be saving.
