Let’s sign Gareth Bale

I'll try Bale on a loan tbf. If it doesn't work out we part ways. It's the cheapest and best way to run down a year with a very good player at the team and gives us a year to look for good options.

I'd love for you to take Bale, even if it's a loan just to get him out of the locker room, but You should really be looking at Ceballos if you want to sign a talented well rounded CM. I like the guy, but Zidane doesn't.

If you need a DM/CM, we also have Llorente who is also good but not Zidane's cup of tea.
Agreed. Plus there's this guy lucas vazquez, he's a proper right winger, you'd love him. Let's say Bale on loan and Pogba in exchange for the other 3? Who says no?

I definitely would not sign him on loan, for the simple reason he'll be taking the spot of an actual talent ala Sancho that we need to sign. We need to be signing top talents, not ones that were good once but aren't anymore.

That, and he'd miss half the season with injury and he's not the same player he was when he was younger. He's lost pace, and it won't be long since he's similar to Sanchez.

If we do somehow end up signing Bale then frankly Ed needs to be sacked (though I'd argue he should've been replaced by now anyhow).

Very much doubt United are an alternative. Real will have to keep him.
That is most likely the probable outcome. I agree. If anyone (and it depends on how much they want to get rid) I dont see another club but United though. Or as I stated earlier: a non-transferbanned Chelsea maybe.
We should be able to do a much cheaper deal for Bale this summer than the last if its on the cards though. And then it might be worth a punt. He is still a very, very good player.

Anyone who reckons signing Bale is a good idea, should be permabanned from participating in any discussions about football.

He's not a very good player anymore and I can't see United wanting him at all. The Bale you watch now has lost what he was known for.

I'd take him on loan.
Buy Sancho for the right, play Bale on the left and Rashford as the striker. We can't sort out every position in one window. Bale on loan would be a good temprorary solution. It would also allow us to bin one or two of our crap wingers like Sanchez, Martial and Lingard

If we were to get Bale it surely wouldn’t be to play left wing. He can’t play there. Binning Martial for him there would probably end up being an even worse decision than bringing in Sanchez to displace him.

The demise of Gareth Bale is severely overstated IMO. Or at least it is not clear. It was less than 12 months ago he single-handedly decided the CL-final. And thank god for that.
The Real team this year has been totally out of sorts and I should not put to much blame for this on him. Then Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Benzema are also done for.
Its funny how much one season can do in fans eyes.
I dont want to spend too much money on Bale either, but this summer if any there might be a possibility to get a good fecking deal for Real for someone that still might be a complete gamechanger if fit and motivated.
And you can say a lot about Bale, but the guy is a complete professional and he might do well back in England where he does not have to go to dinner at 11pm with his teammates.

if Bale can be loaned in a similar deal as James Rodriguez then do it. Real Madrid will subsidize his salary too then why not? He is still a great player when healthy.

He cant? I was under the impression he has played at LW before.

This is the dream Woodward signing.

Madrid will know that they won't get much for him from anyone but us.

Cue him getting injured in the first three games of the season.
He won't come to United.

Bale is the type of player we are missing & whilst he may only play a half of the season - that's going to be more than enough.

He can take free kicks, take corners, score from headers & take long distance shots.

Sure he may not have the pace before but that's not something we lack in the squad.

He should replace Lukaku as he can do exactly what Lukaku does & cover his abilities & game time whilst adding much more that comes from his overall abilities.

I don't see him as Sanchez v2 - sanchez had a max of two season world class displays whilst Bale has been world class from his break through LM spurs season.

Not going to happen. Up to 500k for another Sanchez type scenario. Plus the injuries and his age. It would be another quick fix.

If current stuff is to be believed you'd simply have to consider bale on loan. Especially if we are aiming to sign somebody like sancho. Bale can operate on both wings, if he doesnt work out he'll be decent cover for two younger wingers eg sancho and martial. If he does work out we have nothing to think about. He's an experienced player, really talented and a loan deal with a view to buy would be worthwhile I think.

Wouldn't be against a season loan. Chances are we are going to be in the Europa so he'd not play in those games for us so would get plenty of rest.

We are also going to be rebuilding for 2 years. A player like Bale could help keep us competitive in top 6 why Ole gets rid of deadwood.

Forget title challengers. 2 years away, maybe even more.

If we were to sign Bale it would need to be on the following conditions:

- On loan
- Play as number 9
- If he’s injured for, say, four weeks we stop having to pay his wages until he’s fit to play again

It's like the imbeciles who's in charge learnt nothing from the Sanchez and Di Maria signings.

On loan where we pay his 600k or whatever he earns and he gets crocked in the 2nd game. No thanks

The only situation where I'd be 'happy' with signing Bale on a loan (with Real paying part of his wages) is if Dortmund are refusing to sell Sancho but we feel we have a strong likelihood of being able to sign him the following season. Bale on load could help bridge that gap year.

Other than that, as much as I did love to watch Bale at his peak, I wouldn't want us signing him.

He is a mile away from that player now, it was never his best position and is not one that he favours.
He doesn't have to play as an out and out winger (like a Kanchelskis), especially as he can cross a ball without running past his man (similar to how Beckham could - Nb. I'm NOT comparing them as players) but could see him as a type of inside left ... crosses, through balls, shots.

A definite improvement on what we've got ... as long as we have games played/injuries written into any loan deal.

If Bale was to play as the left-sided attacker in a front three he would struggle, regardless of how he is asked/ you see him interpreting that role. Truth be told he would probably find it hard on the right too now due to the potential workload tracking a full back defensively, but at least then he can make use of his left foot coming inside without much effort trying to create half a yard. The right-sided forward role in the front two we have been using relatively frequently is about as suitable as it gets for him now I think.

Not bad option to get him on loan until we spend on defence and midfield. And next summer we should bring him back and buy Sancho or Felix, if other wont go for him this summer.

I remember him looking a class above at the U23s(?) for Spain. Just didn’t feel like the right move at all at that stage of his career.

Think he's made it pretty clear he's not fussed about playing us before, so I'd like to think that now Real have had their fill, and he is now just taking up a space and wages there, that we won't be so stupid, but nothing would surprise me atm.

The point is that you judge every player on their merits, and don’t suddenly dismiss every player that hits 29. There are examples of great transfers of older players and some disasters.

No, really, we should dismiss every player that hits 29. Van Persie was a complete one-off: a proven talent, still good though clearly beginning a down-slope. It was a genius throw of the dice by Fergie when he knew our squad was poor and it paid off.

But that's truly the exception that proves the rule. Leave 29-year olds alone. There are plenty of other players in the world.

Zlatan?

Bale who has never looked remotely interested in coming here, coming in, probably on Sanchez level wages.

What could possibly go wrong there?
