Not for 2 years week in week out no, and not as skipper.
Ah playing silly beggars now, if you re-read my post I just mentioned that the man makes errors.
He clearly kept Keane in the team too long, so much so we had to build the team around him (extra midfielder to do his running) and we didnt do very well. There's a mistake with an experienced captain.
Everton is his level.
Can't see how we actually need him.
Better sign a young one cause Baines would cost a lot too.
15 mil pounds at least?
Reports are suggesting that we can get him for about half of that sum. For 15M it would have been ridiculous.
Usually I'm in favour of us bringing in good players, but I don't see the point of bringing in Leighton Baines. While we do need a left back to replace Evra in the future, the left back we should be targeting is someone young, who has time on their side and not someone who is 27. That is even if we should be looking at a left back at all, considering the few times we have seen Fabio, he's been decent and could get better with experience.
If Evra gets injured, we could always play Jonny Evans at left back.

£7.5m for Baines?
Can't see that.
If I remember correctly everything I have read until now speaks about a transfer in that region (I could be wrong but I don't think that I am). Anything above 7-8M for him wouldn't be good, but for that price seems reasonable to buy him. As I said before I see him as a transition player, not as a long time replacement for Evra. If we are looking for a long time replacement then that player is Alba who unfortunately cost 20M+.
Knowing us, we'll spend £20 million on Baines. Then not sign a midfielder, sighting no 'value' in the market as the reason.

Was Everton Lescott's level?
Baines has the ability to cut it at a Champions League club
He's not - he made Downing look like Garrincha in the cup semi.I don't think Baines is a good one-on-one defender
isn there a resident everton fan on here?
Lescott is probably the player City are going to upgrade.
You need another row for number of times skinned. That's Baines main weakness as far as I can see. He isn't very good at anticipating what a wingers goin to do and gets turned inside out very easily imo.

and we might spunk out 15m on him. anyone wanna complain?
12m...
err.. no thanks
Baines is obviously much better than some in here are giving him credit for. Let's also not forget that he can take a mean freekick too. Something we desperately need.
Want. Want. Want.
Fantastic player, him and Ashley Cole have been the two best LB's in the league for 2 years now (hell, England has to get one position with all of the best eh?), also he has luscious hair and a fantastic music blog. Where's the downside?
