Looks like it's really kicking off, police cars attacked at set alight.

Anyone know what the riots are about?

I was watching a bit on a live stream earlier and they said kids were taken away from a family by social services and it all kicked off from there. 5 kids were apparently left alone in a house and a young child allegedly ended up with a head injury. Thats backed up in the BBC article you posted

In a statement police said that on arrival officers found "an ongoing disturbance which involved some agency workers and some children".
A spokesperson said: "More people started to attend the location and a decision was made to remove the agency workers and the children to a safe place.
"A crowd started to gather and more officers were requested to attend the area, where some pockets of disorder were occurring.

Surely more to do with it. Looks like thousands of rioters, buses and houses set alight

Send the army in to deal with these scumbags. They have now burned down a building and are not allowing firefighters to get to the scene.

The police are getting chased out. Not sure why we don't use water cannons for stuff like this? Quick and efficient

Can’t be a worse area in the country than Harehills. Awful.

Would also give a lot of these scruffs rioting a good shower. Most of these lot look like they have not washed themselves in months.

Must feel safety in numbers. Hopefully there’s enough CCTV footage to ensure many of them get caught and sentenced accordingly.

Come to think of it, most of them are probably daft enough to publish their own incriminating videos. Pray they’re not stupid enough to wear Just Stop Oil t-shirts while doing it.

I see Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and the GB News team are quick to suggest this is some sort of Islamist riot.

They’ve even got a screenshot of the maligned councillor Mothin Ali who is steering a young girl away from the danger, and headlined it with “Muslim councillor involved”.

It’s funny how any act with people who have a slight tint in their skin colour and a few beards immediately tarnishes a whole group of people who don’t appear to be the perpetrators!

Doubtful. Police and courts will do feck all. Country is finished

Kicking off in London too, due to police shooting someone in Bangladesh apparently.

I mean what are you implying with your “I predicted this”.

You predicted a Romanian Family would have their kids removed from social services, causing an entire community to go outside and start being dicks? Or is it something else?

Edit: I’ve had a stinker.

Emotions running high as a friend of mine in the area has told us he was attacked when he made the crazy decision to go outside of his flat and try to steer people away from the police when it was getting feisty at 6ish.

Hopefully now he’ll realise Harehills low rent really isn’t worth it.

Perhaps social services had valid concerns in taking the children away. I'm sure it's not a decision that was taken lightly

Perhaps?

If the police and social services find a 7 month old with a non-accidental head injury in a house with 5 unattended kids, I’d say they don’t have any choice.

Imagine the outrage if they left the kids there in those circumstances and later a child dies.

Sadly, you’re probably right. Would be refreshing to see the new government at least speak out and denounce such behaviour. Instead all we’re likely to get is folk fanning the flames playing the blame game.

I mean they jailed 200 people in the Bradford Riots debacle when they had 240p cctv systems only to work from.

There’s a man in a blue t shirt seen both lobbing bricks and setting a bus on fire, and it’s been clipped. He will absolutely be jailed, without a shadow of a doubt.

Send in the clowns

From my own experience with the care system it’s really hard to have kids taken away so I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t legitimate. As always could be wrong.

Social services do the right thing and idiots kick off. You have to be pretty awful parents to get your kids taken away.

Hopefully a good amount of them rioting get arrested.

In Bangladesh!? FFS

Yes, they seemed to be trying to attack a small business park in the Whitechapel area of London, blokes came out chucking plantpots at them from the stairs above. Supporters of rival groups in Bangladesh apparently.

The trouble in Bangladesh seems more widespread than I first read. A 17 year old student was shot by the police there is what I'd originally seen, but it's part of a bigger thing that's going on. Up to 19 dead over the past few days. Apparently the Bangladeshi government tried to bring in a quota, reserving 30% of jobs for the descendents of those who fought for Bangladeshi independence against Pakistan in 1971. The students of the country didn't like this, saying it benefits those who support the government so they've been protesting over there and the police have been heavy handed in response.

Kind of weird to me how it ends up popping off in London as a result!

Well that escalated quickly. I saw a video on reddit earlier where they were toppling over a police car but I didn't realise they'd started a fight with a bus.

Harehills is a proper shithole by all accounts.
